I felt the same about Vanessa Ferrari. She finally got it in Tokyo after Beijing, London and Rio. So don't give up hope.

Exactly what she said, re longevity in gymnastics - coaches who ront treat gymnasts like they're 6 yr olds, instead giving the GYMNASTS agency over their training - not coercing them to undereat, overtrain and train / compete with injuries!!!

Oh, if so, then Ellie Black is just 4 or so Olympics behind Oksana Chusovitina, Uzbekistan, who's been doing Olympics since FDR was alive, it seems. Enduring, incredible athletes.

Worst interviewer ever, clearly you have no intimate knowledge of the sport nor Ellie's career. So, it'd make sense to ask leading questions about her speaking out, injuries, her age, regrets etc. All topics to stir the pot.

He's a journalist for combat sports so it makes sense he's not an expert on this particular discipline. Blame CBC for hiring him, not his fault

Im a big WAG fan, and I thought it was a great interview. His questions were valid and concise in soliciting Ellie's POV, he was engaged, and she appeared comfortable. I think sometimes, our own perceived knowledge or expertise about someone or something can make us extra critical and prideful. Even with your very valid opinion, sometimes, it's good to just accept and appreciate some things for what they are.

@@freddycooks Thank you for saying this. Ariel is a great interviewer. His expertise may be in combat sports but I've always considered him quite intelligent and to be the utmost professional. I don't think he was trying to do anything untoward or incite any sort of drama at all.
