- With the addition of each child I've found I pack less and less in my purse, I try to stick with just the daily necessities. Another reason I can keep my purse light is that I stock my van with additional back-up items in case of emergency. Thanks so much for being here!

Haha, When I was a young mom I was at one of those home parties where the hostess is selling whatever and the presenter said whoever had the weirdest thing in their purse would win a free gift. You should have SEEN the crazy stuff us moms had in our bags, lol. I had a corkscrew and a box cutter in mine (this was before airport security was a thing) My friend won when she pulled a little container of glycerin suppositories out of her bag 🤣lol. Now I am a grandma so I make sure there is tissue and stale candy in the bottom of my purse. Thanks for the video! hugs from PA

My grandkids call my purse the Mary Poppins bag, because I always have whatever they need or want in it.
having an opportunity to deep clean your purse is one of the best forms of self care :-) I use old eyeglass cases to keep small like things together (pencil pen) things like that.
Yes i was going to suggest putting pens and pencils in the kids busy bag in case the pen explodes

Oh my, I had forgotten about carrying so much stuff. Now I'm old and carry a mini handbag with just a small wallet a pen, a chapstick, and a few mints. My keys clips onto the strap. I do compensate by having a car bag. Best thing in the world to keep my car neat and organized with what if's. Cracker Barrel carry cute multi pocketed gardening bags every spring that are just perfect for the car. This years bag is a patriotic red white and blue star print. I may just get one for my hubby's car.

Great video Hilary. I used to carry bigger bags. Now that I’m older and my kids are grown, I have a small crossbody and that’s it 😂.

It’s amazing the things we accumulate in our purses. Lol
When I was a young mom, then a mom of teens and now a “Mimi” (though all my grandkids live a minimum of 3 hours away and even on the east coast from CO, I used ziploc bags for every.thing. Each was labeled with Clean Clothes, Snacks, Formula, Toys, etc and I kept one ziploc bag labeled Dirty Clothes, another one with plastic grocery sacs for dirty diapers. And any Medicine or my personal items (lipstick, lip balm, hand lotion, etc) in a pretty and small makeup bag. And electronic stuff (chargers, ear buds, etc) in tech bag. All those bags helped contain everything and all I had to do was pull a bag up and look at the label and if the wrong bag, then grab the next one instead of having to dump things out at the most in opportune time. Always enjoy your content!

That's a great bag for a mom with little ones. You always get things so clean and you are very organized. I have a large leather tote from Duluth that I love but I bought a purse organizer from Amazon. It makes it easier to find the smaller items. Since my daughter is a mom herself, I don't need the same items as you do. Love your content Hilary, you are always so inspiring. God bless you and your family ❤

I wash all my purses in the washing machine too, even leather in cold water on lite setting, and let them air dry. I’ve washed numerous styles. Never had a disaster yet.

I don't know how you feel about aerosols, but I have a light colored canvas bag for warm weather which I washed last year for the first time. Someone recommended Scotch Guard to protect the bag. I love it for shielding against soil and spills! Follow the directions to thoroughly saturate the fabric and leave in a well ventilated area to dry (I left mine on the deck to air out as well). Hope this is a useful tip for you.

Nice to have a fresh clean bag, it’s amazing how many things wind up in our purses! I love how prepared you are. I babysit my Granddaughters a couple of times a week and I always try to be prepared too, it makes easier. ❤️

I have one small purse for when i go shopping, a purse for when i go to work, and a family bag for when we all go out. The only thing i move from bag to bag is my wallet as my keys hang on the hook

I carry a bag that size as my purse too. I do my purse clean out on Fridays. Great idea about keeping a measuring tape in your bag. One will be going in my bag today!
I laughed when you pulled out the dirty diaper because it reminded me of the time I cleaned out my big purse- it had been several months- and I found a rotten banana in the bottom! I can't believe I didn't smell it!! Lol!!

When I started downsizing, I went to a the smallest purse that would hold essentials only. For the things that you sometimes need, I have a cosmetic bag in the center counsel; bandaids, safety pins, travel sewing kit, panty liners & other items. Mind you, I don't have little kids to entertain.
I agree with the other comments of keeping a change of clothes for each kid in zip bag, in the trunk. I would keep a bag of small toys and a few books in a bag in the back seat for them; switch it out every so often. I also carry a tape measure, a list of thrift items I'm on the hunt for and measurements of areas for placement of found items.
I really like the bag would prefer a smaller version.

the diaper! 😂 I am amazed you have time to clean and wash your purse with 4 kids at home. I have one and I can barely go to the toilet and wash myself. I need to do cleaning and organizing when he is not around as he looks for my attention and physical contact all-the-time! he is almost 4, still velcro boy, as when he was a baby.
One was napping, one was with daddy, and the others were playing. Enjoy your little Velcro baby, it won’t always be so 😌

The problem with cleaning out my purse is that I usually freak out the next time I pick it up because it is so light and empty. I get used to carrying all the junk. Thanks for the inspiration though going to clean mine out now.
At this stage of life, I have been able to par down and only carry a small shoulder bag🙂. I do, however, still have a stash of stuff on hand in my car 😉😂

I had 2 kids back to back, I always kept a basket in the back of the SUV that had 2 sets of clothes each, diapers, & wipes. Didn't keep it in my purse because I was going to go to the car to change them if needed. I also had a "express toy drawer at the back door that they could pick out of before we walked out the door, and all shoes at the door, and a basket in the SUV full of toys and the seat pocket contained books. I had a collection of kids CD's that were soothing for on the ride home to get them down for a nap. I also walked thru the toy section on my way in to the store and they could each pick a book or toy to play with while in the store, they were tired of it and it was returned before we left. (lol) Make your purse for you.
Yes I should’ve mentioned in the video but a well stocked car is also a must with little kids, we keep extra clothes and things there as well 💛

Thanks for the motivation! Some items like sunglasses I might want if in a different car, I keep in my purse. But things like the measuring tape I keep in the console of my car.
I had to laugh at the dirty diaper in your bag. I remember those days. 😂 You can buy small travel pill organizers that you can put some Tylenol in and save a lot of room in your bag. Also a case for your earbuds so they don’t get tangled or broken. I like an organized purse too. Being organized reduces a lot of stress unprepared situations. 😁💕

My mom was obsessed with Woolite carpet cleaner. She used it on everything from stuffed animals to backpacks. It’s like a foam spray. I wonder if it would work on your purse.
I have a similar bag from a company called "Meanwhile back at the farm." I thrifted it brand new for 3 dollars. It is a work horse! You need more zip locks or make up bags in ur bag to keep things contained. They make a world or difference!! You live a charming life!! ❤

Why do we mothers seem to "have to" carry all the things. I'm definitely guilty of this also. But every time I try to pear down my things in my purse I can't seem to eliminate much or be able to go to a small size purse. So I got a backpack style purse to help me carry the load.
