Fifth Gear - Used to like the show but why on earth have you got that idiot from Goblins Worst Garage on there? He’s an utter twunt who knows nothing about cars as proven by his “tuning tips”. 😂
£95000 for a classic mini reboot?! In my home country (South Africa), that's roughly 2,000,000ZAR. For that amount, I can buy a 60s mini, bring it back to life and have it looking and driving like it came out the factory, and still have enough left over to buy a 2 bedroom home in a well off area.
80 grand for 78 hp and a nice interior !.....mine had slightly fettled 1310cc with 92hp in 1989 for £800, "which was a lot in 1989"....David Browne should of gone the turbo route with injection for that money.
All the time since David Brown has made these has anybody actually seen one besides at events where they are trying to sell them or on tv?? There was a flood of spam all over FB with reviews of these a while back. I don’t think they can sell them. Especially considering what they have done is nothing more than an interior retrim and external deseam.
Vicki always looks ever green just like good old days. Awesome video Madam. Just a single question how much stars does it garner in crash tests just a curiosity.
Keep the A series in the front & have an electric motor to drive the rear, you'll get a four wheel drive hybrid with oodles of power & no loss of he charm. Well that's the plan anyway.
You could just get a Limited edition Mini Cooper with factory wooden dash, leather seats, air-conditioning, fuel injection in a very capable engine and rocking paint job. All for just under < £20K. Just google Mini LE 35th edition!
wait, what year is this from?, it must be new.. lots of new car around, haven't been watching fifth gear for a while, but vicky is looking goooood? how? she aged beautifully.. !
love the mini. I can't believe the price tag when you could build one all by yourself for a lot less than that. my mum passed her mini to me for nothing and she only brought it for £400 in 2006!!
I wish i could own this one day. when my dad bought one decades ago, i couldnt drive it because didnt have the licence yet...simple without all the cluttered updated gadgets.. just cruising along with the time (machine)
Well there is an empty headed review. Where is the battery pack in the electric Mini and does it compromise the boot space, does it live where the rear seat was (some electric Mini conversions do that) ? What is the range of the electric Mini, how many kWh of electricity will the traction battery store ? Is the electric Mini capable of being DC fast charged ?
@@bjenkin2705 Hmm batteries still aren't light or energy-dense enough to replace a fuel tank/engine. I dare say a rack of quick-change batteries at a special battery station would maybe work, but everyone would have to agree on a standard then and that is not likely since there are already 2 or 3 for electrical charging plugs. I do think that hydrogen fuel cells are the way forward, as they allow electric non-polluting power with the convenience of a quick fuel fill-up.
Had a classic mini as my 1st car and loved it, but saw one yesterday and yes it made me smile, but at the same time I wouldn’t have one now! Kinda sad to say in a way but modern cars are light years ahead in every way, and while they might miss out on the character & charm of the old mini they’re still better in almost every single way. At those kinda prices though for those two cars. - I mean wtf??, only the rich and/or the stupid would ever buy one, and a 125mph range 😂- battery cars need to come a loooooooong way before they’re viable, and they need to come way down in price to - or is the high price deliberate to price most off the road, or into the smaller low range shitbox versions!??
I probably have about 40k in my sleeper 1960 Morris 850 which looks much nicer and would trash either of those. Reliable daily with 70hp from a 998 and hybrid magic wand box with rally suspension and 7” discs. Looks totally stock 1960. Really no need for anything else and still way less change than either of those. And electric mini should be no more than 25k max.
@@kyle_vr I'd go with an Alfa 147 diesel but then I love my 159. Not the most reliable car I've ever owned but it does get noticed for the right reasons.
Did she say 95k ? Anybody that pays that amount of money needs to rethink life. Don't be so selfish and donate the money to a good charity. You will feel much better and less guilty. If you must have a mini, get a old one and fix it up yourself. Then you can feel you have saved
Even if climate change is true, saying save the planet doesn’t make sense. If we do become extinct the planet will still be here, without us.So we should be saying save ourselves .
You could probably get someone to fully restore one, put a proper modern engine/gearbox in it and a custom built hatchback conversion for less than that.
Nothing to do with being Electric. Seems more like a Classis Restoration buisness. Many try charge crazy money even for Petrol Cars. These are not production cars built in large numbers. Someone selling you a turn key project car.
So let's get this straight, I can spend £80k on an electric Mini that does 80 mph or I can buy Tesla that's bigger, faster, better equipped and with a better range? I've owned loads of Minis back in the day and they where cheap fun cars, eventually they were upgraded into the Nissan Swift... (Check your history)

On the downside you'd be driving a Tesla. Instant ticket to looking like a smug douche. Awesome cars in many respects but I'd still rather ride a skateboard.
Lol i was always aware that i would die in my mini in a crash so drove accordingly..... You soon learnt to look out for hazards and how to use the limited power to get you out of trouble as the brakes ( discs on the front with no servo) were pretty much useless as by the time you got enough pressure on the pedal it would just lock up.....
@@lurchy666 Wow, no brake booster on the original Mini! I didn't know. But yes driving a low powered car, just makes you drive accordingly not to put yourself in situations you can't get out of.
Nah not a Tiny City car with a not remarkable but decent engine. I would prefer the Electric version with 2x the Torque and 1.5x the power. The cliche conversion is a Fiat 500. Even better the big torque goes to Rear Wheels on those. There is certain models where the Petrol Engine is worth keeping. But not for this category.

Tom Donnellan ..they did, great name idea.
Probably a copyright issue because the Mini and MinE sound exactly alike despite the different spellings.
@@ono3869 BMW should of used it but they did not. No copyright problem for them as they own the brand.

80000£ for a Mini ? =0 I can get real classic Mini in good condition for 7000€ so is that really worth of ten times more ?
For 80K you could get an old mini, do a total rebuild to your own spec and still have about 45K spare

Hand built cars for hand built prices. No surprises there.
They have always been hand built.

Think what you could do to a Mini with that sort of budget, some supercar slayer mini.
Exactly, like the one on Fastest car with a Honda V6 in the rear, it beat the McLaren
You mean project Binky!
VBH is just awesome. More please!
Still beautiful VBH!! :-)

Its for all the rich hipster wankers
The new mini electric is only something like 26K brand spanking new! I know what I'd have...
they missed a great opportunity to get Vics in a mini skirt there didn't they.

But are they still rot boxes of have they rust proofed them?
Vickie is my fave. X
I feel a Hybrid replacement is more favourable to me, all electric is just hard to justify if there are a few charging stations every 200 miles.
