One of the best video game movies, and WAAY better than the original! I'm glad you covered this! Also i’m waiting till Netflix finally releases a digital version so they don't keep taking down videos of recordings.
Not sure I'm right, but during the mini travel montage, the scene where peach says something about protecting the land, that area looked like Rock Candy Mines from NSMBU
I just finished watching in theaters, don't know if it's in the vid but when the dry bones were chasing luigi towards the castle, one falls and does the terminator 2 thumbs up
Just saw this with the fam the other day and man, the musical references were fantastic, especially the teeny tiny hint of Luigi's Mansion when Luigi first lands in the Darklands
I’m sure it’ll be easier to see when it’s available for home viewing but they use a lot of Mario’s animations from different games, including Smash; his first attack on DK is actually his 3-hit combo and he definitely is using his F-air during the training montage.
also that thing in the shop that the toad said to blow on it was a cartridge, referring to how people used to think you had to blow on them to fix a problem
in brooklyn after mario and luigi leave the pizzaria and run down the street like a 2d level there's some brown crates and yellow buckets and a few other objects resembling the blocks at the beginning of 1-1, as well as at the end of that section mario runs up a staircase and slides down a pole with a restaurant shaped like the end of level castle behind it
There's a reference you missed in Mario's room he has a poster that says Slugger Mate and Ultra Machine. Ultra Machine is a 1967 batting toy made by Nintendo and the Slugger Mate is the Australian version
With little time we actually see Luigi, i would love the second movie to be focus on Luigi rescuing Mario ! (and i would love to hear a Elvin Gadd ! haha)
So you know, the thing in the shop that resembles the music block is an actual item in the Mario series, a Music Box. In SMB3, it would cause all overworld enemies; Hammer Bros, Fire Bros, Piranha Plants in Pipe Land, etc., to fall asleep so Mario and Luigi don't have to deal with them.
Hey i yust whanted to say you missed one Easter Egg:when mario and luigi are running to the job in Bruklin at the end of the run Mario slides down a lamp post like a flag and in the background castle from Mario Bros 1 with a sign saying castle. I really like this video I just wanted to point out that😁😁😁😁.
When I watched the movie again I noticed that the sport paintings in Mario's room actually go a little deeper than referencing the Mario Sports spinoffs, the golf one is specifically NES Golf (Which iirc Iwata programed himself), and I just assumed the others were NES Tennis and NES Soccer.
6:24 Oh I do remember reading about that game, too bad I never had it or even got to try it! The way you showed the easter eggs in this video is absolutely hilarious, good job! By the way, the sign in the construction site looked suspiciously like a Game & Watch character to me, but it could just be a coincidence.
looking through totally legal methods i see no reason to believe that small poster on the bulletin board is a reference to the mario kart wii boxart, just looks like any random white poster with 2 figures
There are so many details in this movie, i cant remember them all... But in one scene when Mario is sitting on the bed with Lugig you can see a poster with Captain Falcons Blue Falcon an the name "Falcon" on it. Yay, nintendo don't has forgotten the F-Zero series!
I might be the first one to ever notice this, but when bowser is playing the piano, the piano is apparently made by Ludwig Von Koopa, which is a reference to, well, him.
The Mario Movie is probably the best representation for Kid Icarus, Star Fox, and F-Zero we’ve gotten in YEARS (besides Smash Bros) Honestly it’s kinda sad even if the movie is absolutely AMAZING
I'm not sure about this, but could the tree in the fire flower field be the same tree as in Hotel Mario? Idk why but that's the first thing I thought of when I first saw it
I wanna say its probably a coincidence, but the tree in the field is definitely more detailed than what you'd usually see from Mario games so... maybe its inspired by something.
I really hope yoshi is a major plot point in whatever there teasing it be amazing to hear yoshi themes redone flower garden yoshis new island main theme the level theme not the title screen and i dont know maybe the yoshi island castle theme orchestrated will make me die happy
This might or might not be an easter egg but when the luma appears the music is very similar to the luma theme from super mario galaxy i say this because when it is played side by side it dosent have the exact same melody but it is similar
could you do a video on stardew valley but you cant sell or ship anything? i am doing this challenge myself and i would like to know how far can i actually get
1:34 I love the GameCube startup sound.
I am so glad I got to see this movie with my sister, trying to hear the musical references was so fun and the movie was amazing!
When Bowser is playing the piano, you can see Ludwig von Koopa's name on it!
One of the best video game movies, and WAAY better than the original! I'm glad you covered this! Also i’m waiting till Netflix finally releases a digital version so they don't keep taking down videos of recordings.
I respect your opinion👍
Best video-game movie of all time.
Kanye: of ALL TIME!

oh i thought they were talking about a warp flute
Love these edits, perfectly represents the movies set pieces.
The music was amazing. I loved nerding out at the many references within the soundtrack.
in brooklyn after mario and luigi leave the pizzaria and run down the street like a 2d level there's some brown crates and yellow buckets and a few other objects resembling the blocks at the beginning of 1-1, as well as at the end of that section mario runs up a staircase and slides down a pole with a restaurant shaped like the end of level castle behind it
4:41 That note block item is an Item from SMB3 where you can use it on the overworld to put hammer bros to sleep so you can evade them without a fight
There's a reference you missed in Mario's room he has a poster that says Slugger Mate and Ultra Machine. Ultra Machine is a 1967 batting toy made by Nintendo and the Slugger Mate is the Australian version
I think if you look closely on toad's bag like there's a few buttons referencing some various lands from the games
With little time we actually see Luigi, i would love the second movie to be focus on Luigi rescuing Mario !
(and i would love to hear a Elvin Gadd ! haha)
I agree I hope Luigi gets some time to shine in whatever comes next.
YES that would be amazing to have Luigi in a actually movie for more than 20 minutes lol
Holy crap. Chunky is alive.
When Mario and Luigi are in the sewers and crash into the wall, the bricks that are no longer their form an 8 bit Mario head
When I saw Disk-Kun in the background at the end I lost my mind. NOBODY knows who that character is
1:42 the dolphins may be a nod to the GameCube's codename, Dolphin.
and isle delfino, which means dolphin island

Man missed the G&W easter egg on the van right before the brothers to the 2D platforming by the construction site.
I really like you went out of your way to edit this
I love DPadGamer classics like Easter Egg breakdowns! Loved the Mario move! 10/10!
I have yet to see any easter egg video mention Daisy's flower emblem! It's on a sign in the Mushroom Kingdom, right as Mario/Toad arrives.
Well, good video D-Pad, certainly missed some of these myself!
The black thing could also be a 3DS or Wii U because they have a blow on microphone feature. More likely that it’s 3DS if it’s one of them.
That seems way less likely than a cartridge or warp whistle tbh
looking through totally legal methods i see no reason to believe that small poster on the bulletin board is a reference to the mario kart wii boxart, just looks like any random white poster with 2 figures
Well, I'm sure this and a lot more details will be clear once the movie is available for streaming / DVD & Blu-Ray
We love Luigi as the rat who eats m&Ms 🥰
There are so many details in this movie, i cant remember them all... But in one scene when Mario is sitting on the bed with Lugig you can see a poster with Captain Falcons Blue Falcon an the name "Falcon" on it. Yay, nintendo don't has forgotten the F-Zero series!
In the "Does this thing work?" bit, it's a direct reference to the NES cartridges and having to blow in them when the game wouldn't load properly.
You are literally like the champion of the world. Thx for amazing years.
I like your MS paint/Photoshop recreations of the movie scenes
You pointed out a lot of things that I missed. Thanks!
You did not mention the obvious warp pipe sounds when mario enters the musroom kingdom
You are right, it was very obvious, so I didn't mention it.
You forgot that the song they use in their plumbing commercial was the theme song from the 80’s Super Mario Bros Super Show.
Kameks peach Costume is an easter egg too New Super Mario Bros. Wiis ending.
I might be the first one to ever notice this, but when bowser is playing the piano, the piano is apparently made by Ludwig Von Koopa, which is a reference to, well, him.

Lumalee is an actual character in Mario Galaxy, mouth included. Iirc, he's a hungry Luma merchant.
It’s probably the tree from 3D Land
The music block is actual from Mario 3. It actually plays 1-1 in the hub world if I’m pretty sure
I really hope yoshi is a major plot point in whatever there teasing it be amazing to hear yoshi themes redone flower garden yoshis new island main theme the level theme not the title screen and i dont know maybe the yoshi island castle theme orchestrated will make me die happy
Nice work bro.
I saw the Mario movie actually two times
This film was awesome I loved it
Also, awesome video DPad
Yeah loved this movie so much
1:38 Nice dab!
This might or might not be an easter egg but when the luma appears the music is very similar to the luma theme from super mario galaxy i say this because when it is played side by side it dosent have the exact same melody but it is similar
How have only 900 people seen this???
I think all Scott the woz fans remember the barrel based dk racing games
Awesome
when i watch the movie, i thought dk city was a nod to that donkey kong minecart game from nintendo land. thats my idea at least
In Mario's room area is a F-zero poster
You forgot when Luigi is chasing Mario you can see a truck with Mr game and watch on it
Funky kong was there when they built their karts
on the phone you can see that the unknown thing is of a silhouette of a Mii
My favorite easter eggs is donkey kong n64 characters.
could you do a video on stardew valley but you cant sell or ship anything? i am doing this challenge myself and i would like to know how far can i actually get
Hmm, interesting concept
the recreations where better than the movie XD
Tbh I dont watch the movie or really play mario but I'm a bit of a more sonic gamer and the movie looks so interesting and good as sonic movie or 2😊
Inb4 you get content claimed faster than scott falco did
I uploaded the video twice to check ahead of time, so far so good but I hope no claimo :(
I bet Nintendo will still find a way to sue😂
markin
This video is so heavily gimped by not being able to include the shots being discussed
Well, I had fun recreating the shots so oh well
I am convinced, toad driving a monster truck is inspired by smg4 stupid mario kart
I really, really, really doubt that
I have seen it twice now. Once with my husband and once with my nephew ❤
