Guess I got to IG too late for the story about the dent in the car. Any way I can catch up? Did it happen driving out of the hotel parking lot, or did that scooter hit you?
My bad! It is up now 😊😊
Oh dear. Glad to hear that lady was ok. I imagine how you must have fel, too. Not a good feeling to see someone laying on the road 😔
Hope today goes smoothly! Have a safe trip home.
God. I hate this. Happens all the time... for being Mediterranean and so relaxed they seem to be ALWAYS in a hurry, and can never wait... stupid scooters ALWAYS think rules don't apply to them. You're on the right lane, they overtake you on the right. You're on the left lane, they overtake you on the left. Just because they THINK they fit... doesn't give them the right to just squeeze thru. I hope you get the damages covered by HER insurance... IN FULL.
Hey Kris, you need to look after yourself. An extra day in Genoa would have given you time to explore this interesting city and we could have waited an extra 24 h before seeing the return trip. Great trip though. Well done.
5:30 you are crossing the Melide bridge, left and right Lake of Lugano in Ticino Southernpart of Switzerland :-)
5:55 on the right is called lago di Lugano or Luganersee. 😊 I was just Sailing there two weeks ago.
As I said before this is just great content, I would love to see a trip in the western Norway and yeah more trips in Europe as well. Your videos bring a lot of inspiration for my future car change. And you know what….I haven’t heard you say the word Tesla once in this series and it feels so good!! 👍😊
If you're looking for a new cat, remember: adopt, don't buy 🙂😜
@@felixsanhueza omg just saw that, changing it now 😂😂😂
Yes, we want to follow your trip to Vestlandet in Norway. 👍
It’s coming 😊😍
Thank you Kris. The Geely is still too expensive and not great value considering they don't give any subsidised charging subscriptions which come with VW ID4 and Ford Mach-e which are also more efficient. Would be great to see you get the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 these 2 are worth waiting for at least until Toyoya launches the BZ4x which has big expectations
Actually since 1st of July polestar owners charge at ionity at 35ct/kWh
Hey Kris ! Be safe on the road man 🙏🏻 we would miss such good content otherwise !
Thanks dude 😊 I’ll be safe 😊
I'm sorry you didn't have more time to enjoy Genova. It is such a beautiful place. Which makes me wonder...... What was the point of this trip? Just to show that it is possible in an EV?
I had limited time to do this test, and the point was to drive to the Mediterranean and back in an EV. To see how easy or hard it is 😊 Hopefully I will do more trips in the next few months and also make time for visiting different places 😊
Good to have a beta tester on the roads, before I drive with my xc40 ;)
Please more roadtrip videos👍🏻
Kris, if you had been driving an ICE car you would still have taken "comfort and meal breaks", so it would be useful to know how much time in excess of "Comfort & Meal breaks" was spent charging on route. This would give those of us looking to make the change to an EV a clearer picture of how long a journey will take when compared to an ICE car.
That is so true! I will make a follow up video after the trip where I talk more about stuff like this 😊
Glad to see the accident turned out relatively ok Kris. Don't blame yourself, heavy 'scooter' countries are always going to demand a bit of luck for the car driver. Yes, would love to see a trip along the Norwegian west coast (I've been to Bergen and Oslo but not much else unfortunately) and it would also be great to hear even more about how your Polestar 2 experience was from a driver's perspective (comfort, noise, etc.). Keep up the great work man, enjoying it a lot!
Thanks for the hint to press the connector into the car. 👍👍👍 I had the same issue at an EnBW with my PS2 charger in DE. This is kind of frustrating….😢
My pleasure! That is rally applies to all EVs and not just the PS2. I see so many people everyday struggling with this…
Hi Kris,
Great trip. I have been to France with my P4 on long trips a few times; and had difficulty charging at the hotel as well once. Charging started but stopped within the minute. I found out that by reducing the amperage manually to 6A the charging was maintained. As it was an overnight charge, finishing at 4 or 8 in the morning did not matter.
Awesome series Kris, but ffs take a free day a Genoa to "recharge" yourself
I find the EV roadtrip a little stressful. If you have to charge 3 out of 15 hours that is 20% of the time. For everyday use charging at night it makes sense, but for long trips, maybe not as much.
The good thing is that if you are driving 15 hours you are going to have to stop to eat a few times and go to the bathroom a few times. If you time it well, you can charge while you eat and not have to wait much for the charging to complete.
Great video Kris. Really informative. Keep up the great work 👍🏼😀
Glad you enjoy it 😊
West coast of Norway sounds great👍👍 Wanted to do that trip myself for some time
Hey Kris thank you for your time on doing such interesting videos, not the usual run but a Real Life trip which shows the problems you might encounter on a possible vacation trip with an electric car.
Keep up the good work and maybe next time plan some relaxing days on beautiful Liguria.
Thanks for watching and it’s cool to see that you guys are really enjoying the videos from the trip 😊 Tells me that I can make more of these, which will be fun both me and you guys 😊
Absolutely love these videos. We have a P2 and were not counting on being able to drive down to Italy from our home outside Malmö but after seeing your videos we definitely will. Nice work!
Hej
Riktigt bra komfort i sätena. Gedigen kvalitet i hela bygget.
So refreshing to see you take a non-Tesla down to Europe with no problems. Teslabjørn is always complaining in non-Teslas on every long trips and doesn't seems to care about riding quality/comfort - only speed and get there first - like a true Tesla-fanboi :-p
And I didn't know its almost the same length from Oslo to north of Norway / south for Europe. I might take a trip later on 👍👍👍
👍 to western norway roadtrip 😀
Warning to you Kris Hope you passed the Köpenhamn area Before the 2/8 of August other wise Köpenhamn is red Zone after 2/8 so go by Hirzhalts- Kristiansand or via Travmynde to Trelleborg
Very inspiring videos 👍 Gives a good and realistic impression on long distance driving i an EV
As many Norway videos as you can please Kris - looks a wonderful country and I plan to make my own P2 road trip (from the UK) all over Norway next year.
Probably won't be making a rival video though - so your fan base is safe!
Great videos! Will there be a part 5?
Heard that traffic back into Norway across E6 was crazy due to new quarantine laws, hope you didn’t get stuck in that mess.
It seems to me that the biggest issue with the Polestar is the GOM. My Etron, on long trips by Nav, adjusts the GOM at the start and continually during the route and it takes into account all aspects of the route. So far, in 10,000 miles of ownership, it has never got it wrong (used more electricity than estimated) and usually ends up with 5% - 10% spare range which is always a good thing.
GOM?
@@farfromsensibletv EV driver insider-joke:
Guess-O-Meter which shows remaining range.
@@abraxastulammo9940 I shall remember that, family owns a polestar so good to know
@@farfromsensibletv what Kris calls the guessometer, the calculation the car gives when referring to range remaining
My Polestar 2 also adjusts the expected range. Must be based on some average consumption calculation.
Go to ålesund
I
Yes, Kris, Lake Como is great.
Will be going down to a smal city at the lake, called Varenna, in October. Hopefully the corona is not such an issu then. My son who is also coming to Lake Come will maybe do like you, drive down to Italy (with a Tesla M3). I tipped him about your drive.
I would love to see same trip with Audi GT or Ioniq 5 and fast charging on Ionity chargers. I wonder how much time can be saved just on 800v charging.
Waiting for those amazing road trips you wanna make !! I really enjoy it Kris !! Keep it up bro, are the best :=)
Next time I want to go to Barcelona 😊😊
@@KrisRifa Do a meet up XD Greetings man !
Veldig bra videoer Kris!
Could you do a onboard rout planner comparison between different car brands?
Polestars looks better the i thought, so them and Tesla seem ahead of the market.
Great job Kris
Hi Chris, I think you were a little bit mistaken about the countries you visited. Heidiland is still in Switzerland and not in Austria. Looking at the route you followed, I’m quite sure you never put a wheel in Austria (San Bernardino pass and the Rhein valley) 😜
Well if you watch the video, I didn’t go to Heiland but Hochenems.. so yes I was in Austria and was wide awake as I crossed the boarder and read the sign that said Austria 😂🙈
Did you buy a little bit of pesto, the original, at least in Genova?
8:20. Lol, the cog wheel merging isn't a thing in Norway right? Haha
Btw Kris! Do you get anything from Polestar for doing this, other than borrowing the car? Any strings attached? Recommend you to be clear about any kinds of benefits or disclaimers as part of being an EVfluencer! Besides that - great trip ☺️
Nope! Polestar are kind enough to supply me with the car and unlimited miles, but nothing beyond that 😊
I'm watching your videos and I'm loving them. What is your battery size?
I think 75 net. As far as I know there's only one battery pack for P2
Great car the polestar but needs to charge quicker and more range.
I hope you didn't get the full Italian price on ionity, it's 0.79€ per kWh
Charging at Ionity costs 31 cents with the e tron charging card he's got. (1st year is free, after that it costs 18 euros/month)
Polestar's plugsurfing card also has a similarly low price
No video today?
How long did you get the peak speed when charging though? Given some of the other cars on the market getting 150KW for a few minutes is just not good enough. I’d expect 150KW from low percentages all the way up to at least 70%. The Polestar 2 never got close to that in any of the charging videos I’ve seen, which is disappointing.
Then you should by the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQE (E-class equivalent, to be released late 2021/early 2022) or the Audi e-tron
You should get the Audi e-tron 55 quattro, e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan or the IONIQ 5 then. I think these cars are the only ones that can live up to your expectations. 😊 However, I’m not sure it’s necessary.. I drive the e-tron. Most of the time, it charges almost too fast for me to finish my errands and get ready for the next leg. I don’t drive on the German Autobahn though..
What I do appreciate is the ability to top up fast at higher SOC, like 70-100%. 👍
Ioniq 5 and EV 6 are the new charging kings.
@@abraxastulammo9940 It depends, a three year old e-tron 55 quattro still charges faster from 50-100%, which is actually very useful in real life. At this SOC the IONIQ 5, and presumably the EV6, charges at an average rate of 6,6 km/min (62 kW) vs. the e-tron 55 quattro at 8,7 km/min (100 kW).
Back to the Polestar 2, you’re not buying it because of the charging speed or other on-paper specs. It’s the drive, the great infotainment, head lights and almost premium feel a very competitive price. And who knows. Maybe they’ll increase the charging speed OTA in the future, like other manufacturers? 🙂
👍👍
Great video series. It shows that driving through Europe with an EV is not much of a hassle, well at least there where you have IONITY chargers.
On a personal note, 23kWh/100km is too much IMHO, and not OK.
So you did not even visit Genoa? Why?!?
To make five RUclips videos and test how hard or easy driving an EV to the south of Europe is 😊
@@KrisRifa Come on man, you should also enjoy seeing these places. :) Just saying...
@@danielstoicamusic in part five I talk about having limited time to do a trip, that’s why it was just down and up. Next time though, I’ll plan it more like a small holiday 😊
