- In small-town New Zealand, the gung-ho town council decides that what the town needs to put it on the map is a massage parlour. To this end they bring a masseuse, Sandra, to town. Her presence in such a conservative village stirs up emotions not normally expressed in rural New Zealand.

Thank you very much for posting this film, I've been looking for this for years, i first saw it on BBC2 here in the UK in the early 1980s when they did a New Zealand film season it's never been shown since and could not find it on VHS or DVD

Thanks for posting. My family moved to this town about 2 years after this was filmed. That was 42 years ago. I recognise a few faces too. My mate Neil was the kid in the running race getting his leg massaged.
Note that the boom operator in this film went on to direct a few Hollywood movies Lee Tamahori. Once were Warriors, Mulholland Falls, etc.
I've got the book this movie is made from. Been looking for this movie for about 25 years now! Stoked that I can at last see it!

This is my home town Raetihi grew up here never seen this movie
I've been going to Raetihi on a regular basis for years but never knew about this movie until recently, I thought the gym building might still be there, but it seems to be demolished now.
