That is a fantastic idea for a 5 year! I plan on getting one next year so I start on a "round" year. Like 5-10-15 20. I'm weird like that. I love the Tiny Dragons. It is told that Dragons start off as seahorses and only the very few attain dragon hood. I'm born in the year of the dragon so I think it's a great story. I bought it in the weeks size. one your haul and have a great 2024!!

I'm so stocked to find out we have similar taste in covers: I also got the white makino pouch pocket, the A5 taut leather cover (so so shiny and beautiful!!!), the cats & me HON, and tomitaro makino pencil boards! I would've gotten the makino weeks, but I went with the hiroko kubota aurora duty weeks last year and loved it, so it only felt right to stick with the another night of falling star sparklers weeks this year. I'm looking forward to following your planning journey with all these goodies in the future!

I absolutely LOVE the drawer pouches. I have several, including the lace one you got. They are so pretty but they don’t hold up well and ultimately look awful as they wear. I ended up using mine for storage only because I didn’t want them to get ruined. LMK if you have a different experience. TFS your exciting haul. ☮️
Oh no! I haven't noticed any wear on the ones I've had for about a year. But they don't really travel too much. I use them mainly in my home or in may backyard. I will say I'm not super rough with them and don't store a lot of chunky stuff in them 😅

I also ordered straight from the store this year - my first time doing so. I’m also doing a common planner so I mainly ordered only covers. But I squeezed a couple gifts in there and was above the free shipping amount. I love how diverse everyone’s orders are and how everyone had something different they were obsessed about. For me this year it was the tweed cover! Can’t wait to get it!

Nice pics !! The undyed leather if is constantly exposed to the sun can get super dark, like a camel/rich brown dark !! I know it because I see it happening every summer with my undyed leather sandals 🤣 I always forget that the initial color was so beige and not the final rich brown 😱 It changes gradually and I never notice the change because I get used to the new color bit by bit 😅😅😅

It is not easy haha 😅 but I don't have a lot of "big" purchases throughout the year so I try to save an amount I feel is reasonable. And also sometimes I don't like anything that Hobonichi offers so I get a small order. This year they had several covers in greens and Botanical which is RIGHT up my alley!
Personally, I started a sinking funds account in February/March where I put money aside from each pay. My bank had a higher interest offer and some automatic "savings rules" so I ended up meeting my saving goal in July. I figured if my hobonichi order wasn't going to be that big I could use the funds for Christmas/ other fall purchases like Black Friday. :)
I should have gotten a Hon! I really love the cats cover. Maybe in the spring edition I might buy one. I also love the pen color this year. It's one of my motivation to buy a Hobonichi this soon.

Hey 🤗 can you recommend a cover on cover for the A5 Tomitaro Makino Koshinso? I've tried the regular cover on cover from hobonichi but it's way to big since the other A5 hobonichi covers are thicker.
Glad I could help! I'd didn't have a standard Hobonichi cover (the butterfly pen loops) to try out but I've seen others use those as well and they work!

@@mydandeliondiaries I just got my first hobo. Original a6. Since I needed april start for obvious reasons, they dont have the English version with the slightly bigger grid. I don't care about the English, but that grid. Holy cow. It's like writing on a grain of rice!!! I thought my midori grid was small, it's like twice as big! Did you go through this? Is there an adjustment period or any tips you may have? I have some extremely fine tech pens, like. 05 and just ordered some uni .28mm ballpoints. I prefer fountain pens, so I may get a posting nib for my pilot 912, which is a very clever nib for a clever reason. It's a .25mm which is insane for a fountain pen.
If you had some paint pens, or acrylic paints 100% yes. But I would seal it so the paint doesn't chip off. For regular water or alcohol based markers I don't think you would be able to draw very well on them.
Nice haul. I’m always getting clear covers too as they are so affordable. I was a bit confused about the techo covers for a6. There seems to be 1 for hon, and the other for techo can they be interchanged? My hobonichi is enroute at this moment for the a6 weeks supplement and the full year techo a6 and I wanted to buy a hon cover, but ended up getting a techo cover as I couldn’t find anything online comparing both sizes
From my understanding, on the Hobonichi site, the HON clear covers fit the HON books only. I've seen other creators try to put them on the standard books and they are too big/too small. The clear "cover on covers" go over the covers, not the books themselves. For example, you put the A6 Techo into one of the Colors covers and then the plastic cover on cover on top of the colors cover. I hope that made sense 😅 For clear covers for the standard paper books, I like the Midori clear covers. (I get them from Jet Pens or Amazon)

I snagged a custom jelly cover for my a6 (1 for each size) this year, but I normally always get hobonichi clear covers as they are so cheap. They didn’t have a weekly supplements a6 and great idea for the midori clear covers for your notebooks.
Thanks for sharing 😍 I’m guessing that the Memo pads you got aren’t yet made of the Sanzen Tomoe. Hobonichi said they will change to the new paper in all their accessories when they run out of old stock. So if they have run out of the A5 memo pads and already made new ones, but I’m doubtful because the 2024 Weeks are also still made from the old Tomoe. Spring Weeks will be made of Sanzen Tomoe and I’m exited for that so I can finally test the new paper. I don’t know if they will somehow let us know when a product will change to the new paper. Or did you get information about the A5 memo pads already having the new paper? Do you like the Sanzen paper?
Someone else also commented that they are indeed the original TRP for now until they sell out. I personally have ZERO issues with the Sanzen. If anything I think it has a faster drying time. Then again, if you like to watercolor or blend inks on the TRP it will be more difficult since it will dry faster.

Yes, leather covers do come at a hefty price but they last FOREVER. And I don't buy them every year only when it is a color I am really drawn to. Plus the way I see it is I use it every single day for multiple years so I would rather have good quality stuff. I do use all the planners are the same time! I am a "multiplanner" person 😅, it helps keep my brain organized. I actually made a video recently about mind mapping for multiple planners :)
I think it depends on the person but I find journalling very therapeutic. Average I would probably spend 20 minutes to an hour a day writing. I see it as I could watch a TV show, or I could write. Both are a fun option but writing feels better to me :)
The washi tape shop and London gifties are my favorites 😍 I'm an affiliate with the washi tape shop (DANIELLE10 for 10% off) and London Gifties has a TON of pet tapes (I did a haul video a few weeks ago 😀)
I am not sure about an iPad Air as I only have the standard. But I can fit my 9x7" standard iPad in a Speck case in the pocket (it is a little snug with the case on). I would assume that the Air is thiner and would fit no problem.
Kind of! The Common Planner is actually a planner offered by Sterling Ink! It's laid out similar to a Hobonichi Cousin and uses the Sanzen Tomoe River Paper. I do use it almost like an EDC but it doesn't really leave my house.
The A6 HON is like the A6 Original just with a harder cover like the weeks. The A5 HON is like the A5 Cousin with a harder cover like the weeks. The best way I can think to describe it is they are the same planners in terms of the pages inside, but the covers are harder like the weeks covers.
I use them to help keep my mind calm I think. I have always have a "categorized" brain, and if I try to put too many categories into one place I get overwhelmed. So having them separate helps. I also don't put pressure on myself to finish if I don't feel the need for that book anymore :)
Yes! But it will loosen over time. The Taut I had last year (the blue) was very stiff in the beginning and is now nice and floppy. I think the Bordeaux will hold its shape more based on how the leather was treated but it will still relax a little.
I've watched a couple unboxings so far, and it keeps hurting me to hear "Hon" pronounced "Han" 😅 The O is a long O, like in Hobonichi, or Santa saying Hohoho.

I have used one of mine to hold stickie notes on my desk. But they are very small and there is not a lot you could put in them. I think they would work as a "pen cup" too.
I'm not sure why they named it HON but they are a hardcover version of their classic A6 Techo and A5 Cousin planners. Maybe they wanted to brand it a certain way 🤷
hon - 本 (ほん) is the japanese word for book. I take it, they just wanted to indicate that the hardcovers are more sturdy and booklike. If you write it differently - ホン - it can also be a shortform for a loved one or a cherrished thing. Japanese language is complex like that.

The memo pads are not the new TR Sanzan paper. They have a huge stock I guess to go through is my guess.

@@mydandeliondiaries I just got my first hobo. Original a6. Since I needed april start for obvious reasons, they dont have the English version with the slightly bigger grid. I don't care about the English, but that grid. Holy cow. It's like writing on a grain of rice!!!

I have some extremely fine tech pens, like. 05 and just ordered some uni .28mm ballpoints.
I prefer fountain pens, so I may get a posting nib for my pilot 912, which is a very clever nib for a clever reason. It's a .25mm which is insane for a fountain pen.
Do you think we could color on the hobonichi weeks pencil board?
If you had some paint pens, or acrylic paints 100% yes. But I would seal it so the paint doesn't chip off. For regular water or alcohol based markers I don't think you would be able to draw very well on them.
Nice haul. I’m always getting clear covers too as they are so affordable. I was a bit confused about the techo covers for a6. There seems to be 1 for hon, and the other for techo can they be interchanged? My hobonichi is enroute at this moment for the a6 weeks supplement and the full year techo a6 and I wanted to buy a hon cover, but ended up getting a techo cover as I couldn’t find anything online comparing both sizes
From my understanding, on the Hobonichi site, the HON clear covers fit the HON books only. I've seen other creators try to put them on the standard books and they are too big/too small. The clear "cover on covers" go over the covers, not the books themselves. For example, you put the A6 Techo into one of the Colors covers and then the plastic cover on cover on top of the colors cover. I hope that made sense 😅
For clear covers for the standard paper books, I like the Midori clear covers. (I get them from Jet Pens or Amazon)

I snagged a custom jelly cover for my a6 (1 for each size) this year, but I normally always get hobonichi clear covers as they are so cheap. They didn’t have a weekly supplements a6 and great idea for the midori clear covers for your notebooks.

I’m guessing that the Memo pads you got aren’t yet made of the Sanzen Tomoe.
Hobonichi said they will change to the new paper in all their accessories when they run out of old stock. So if they have run out of the A5 memo pads and already made new ones, but I’m doubtful because the 2024 Weeks are also still made from the old Tomoe. Spring Weeks will be made of Sanzen Tomoe and I’m exited for that so I can finally test the new paper.
I don’t know if they will somehow let us know when a product will change to the new paper. Or did you get information about the A5 memo pads already having the new paper?

Someone else also commented that they are indeed the original TRP for now until they sell out. I personally have ZERO issues with the Sanzen. If anything I think it has a faster drying time. Then again, if you like to watercolor or blend inks on the TRP it will be more difficult since it will dry faster.

Yes! The HON is hard bound like the weeks planners. The traditional cousin has a paper cover.
I'm in shock of how expensive those covers are but that celeste blue is really nice! Will you use all of the planners at the same time or are they more like collectibles?
Yes, leather covers do come at a hefty price but they last FOREVER. And I don't buy them every year only when it is a color I am really drawn to. Plus the way I see it is I use it every single day for multiple years so I would rather have good quality stuff.
I do use all the planners are the same time! I am a "multiplanner" person 😅, it helps keep my brain organized. I actually made a video recently about mind mapping for multiple planners :)

I love journals. But I cannot fathom how people use so many 😅 how much time you spend writing i them?
I think it depends on the person but I find journalling very therapeutic. Average I would probably spend 20 minutes to an hour a day writing. I see it as I could watch a TV show, or I could write. Both are a fun option but writing feels better to me :)

Hi. Does the iPad Air fit the large drawer pouch?
I am not sure about an iPad Air as I only have the standard. But I can fit my 9x7" standard iPad in a Speck case in the pocket (it is a little snug with the case on). I would assume that the Air is thiner and would fit no problem.

When you say “commonplanner” what do you mean like an edc?
Kind of! The Common Planner is actually a planner offered by Sterling Ink! It's laid out similar to a Hobonichi Cousin and uses the Sanzen Tomoe River Paper. I do use it almost like an EDC but it doesn't really leave my house.
So the Hon is like Cousins but no weeks?
The A6 HON is like the A6 Original just with a harder cover like the weeks. The A5 HON is like the A5 Cousin with a harder cover like the weeks. The best way I can think to describe it is they are the same planners in terms of the pages inside, but the covers are harder like the weeks covers.
How do you keep up with so many journals? I can barely use one. 😔
I use them to help keep my mind calm I think. I have always have a "categorized" brain, and if I try to put too many categories into one place I get overwhelmed. So having them separate helps. I also don't put pressure on myself to finish if I don't feel the need for that book anymore :)

Hi, is the taut cover stiff?
Yes! But it will loosen over time. The Taut I had last year (the blue) was very stiff in the beginning and is now nice and floppy. I think the Bordeaux will hold its shape more based on how the leather was treated but it will still relax a little.

I'm not sure why they named it HON but they are a hardcover version of their classic A6 Techo and A5 Cousin planners. Maybe they wanted to brand it a certain way 🤷
hon - 本 (ほん) is the japanese word for book. I take it, they just wanted to indicate that the hardcovers are more sturdy and booklike. If you write it differently - ホン - it can also be a shortform for a loved one or a cherrished thing. Japanese language is complex like that.
