🫶 thanks mate. I think that might be the direction for the future. Just mention what I am about to do and just do it. I think it might be a quick and easy way to edit Videos as well be able to get it more content. Cheers brother. Kezza
Thanks so much Johnny your support means the world to me mate. I’m really enjoying revamping these older videos and keeping my mind busy. Everyone should try and use the mouse with their left hand. It’ll certainly keep you busy!! Cheers mare
Thank you for the support Scott I really appreciate it mate. The full version is on my channel if you wanting more of a breakdown of the project. Hopefully it helps mate. cheers 🤝
Thanks heaps Tom I really appreciate it mate. Back to the doctors now. I should have another update by the end of the week on how everything is going. Cheers mate
I loved this bowl when I watched the original. That may have been the first video of yours I saw. I still love this piece. Still praying your recovery is going well and that you’ll be back on the lathe soon.
I really appreciate it DOG thank you for your continued support mate. Unfortunately I have an infection in my finger and now I’m back on antibiotics and more frequent visits to the hospital for dressing changes. I’ll keep you posted on the progress. Talk to you directly mate
This is a great companion piece to the longer video. Both long and short form videos have their place. I'm looking forward to viewing the longer version and seeing the explanation of what you're showing with the pencil and gouge angle when clearing the interior of the bowl. Excellent work!
Thanks so much, Keith! I’m planning to revisit a few more videos and create shorter ones that are better suited for us visual learners. Do you use traditional tools in your work? I believe it’s important for any woodturner to be proficient with traditional tools, as it allows them to have the best of both worlds. Thank you again for all your support, mate. Cheers Kezza
@@KerryCorney I've been using almost exclusively traditional HSS tools lately. I'm not fantastic at sharpening them, but I'm okay. I do prefer traditional tools, I just have to keep myself honest about keeping them sharp. I'm currently doing a lot of very small spindle turning using a parting tool, a spindle detail gouge, and a small skew chisel. I've got a long way to go when it comes to bowl gouges though.
My absolute favorite shape. All of my night stand junk bowls are almost exactly like that. The wife prefers the pedestal candy dish shapes. Heaven forbid me try to take those to a festival to sell. Keep getting better brother. Excited for us to get the all clear for you👍
Thanks so much Anthony. I’m really glad that these videos are being well received. It’s encouraging me and keeping me busy and my mind off other things as you know. Thanks brother
Thanks very much mate. Unfortunately got a small infection in the joint where they reattached the end of my finger. So I’m back on antibiotics and more frequent visits to the hospital for dressing changes, slow and steady mate. Thanks for checking in🤝
Thanks very much mate I really appreciate the support. Hope you liked or at least checked out the full version as well. Let me know what your thoughts are. Cheers🤝
shudder, sorry every time I start watching a video of yours now I remember your accident, I could not watch all that as I felt physically sick. Am so happy that you are patched up and it was not worse. Get better soon man, wishing speedy recovery. I have definitely been extra cautious using bandsaw these last few days. Take care mate.
Thanks so much for the message, JK. I’m sorry that it nearly made you sick. Unfortunately, I’ve got a minor infection in my finger, so I’m back on antibiotics and will need more frequent visits to the hospital. I’m glad that the videos have made you more cautious around the bandsaw. My intention was only to help. Cheers, mate, and thanks for the message and the well wishes. Cheers, Kezza
Oh, and heres one thing I dwelled on the other week. Might be nice to have a video explanation around it and your opinion. Say you have a log and cut it into half rounds. The grain the in the middle is beautiful, so much so you want to showcase as much of it as you can. So do you do a reverse bowl with the bottom of the bowl using the middle of the tree, but losing a lot of size, or the more traditional make the outside of the tree the bottom and use the natural curve of the tree as the sides of the bowl. But you only have that grain on the top of the bowl sides. Conundrum for sure. I spent a good few hours thinking about this and finally chose to do some of both, will see after they dry how they turn out.
Hello, I hope you are doing great. I am curious if you are going to do a video with the side tables that you made? I saw the pics you posted and want to make some now. I also told my wife I will make some small shades for some lights😅.
Unfortunately, I only made a short video on them. When my hand is better, I will make a longer version of the build process. The table is in three separate parts: the base, the top, and the leg. It’s important that the mortise and tenon joints from the leg to the top and base are a nice fit, and I use a strong quality wood glue for a really neat project. Another suggestion is to try and get quarter-sawn material for the top and base, ensuring that all the materials have a low moisture content to avoid cupping and warping. Let me know how it goes, Loren. Cheers, mate. Kezza

Thanks so much Ken, really appreciate. Back to the doctors now.
Lovely mate. Sometimes it is nice just to see wood becoming art without explanation.

The perfect catch all shape the closed form!
There’s a few bowls around the house that I have moved, the wife notices straight away. Cheers mate.
Beautiful timber, nicely done bowl. Hope you continue to get more range of motion and have feeling in your fingers! Stay safe.
Thank you for your continued support. I’m chomping at the bit to get my hand out of this cast and get back to doing what we all love.
really enjoy the mellow relaxing vibe.. great sound mix.. and I always pick up something watching a great turner like you work your craft!

I like the shape. I made a small shallow dish a few months ago from madrone that looks nearly identical.
This is my favourite shape to make closed form. Also the Scandinavian inspired catch a bowl ruclips.net/video/1k6Bf28vcdA/видео.html

It’s nice mixing things up like that just place is the heart wood in a different spot. Keep me posted on how you go mate. Cheers
