It was all in good fun, if you have an automatic, especially something heavy, I’d take it easy with the racing.

I had a close call too. I was driving my dad's truck and it's harder to brake on it and I had to go to the left lane to turn left but many cars were on the left lane so i started feeling pressured. I made it but I was already going quite fast and it was raining so it was harder to stop and luckily the car that was coming at me from the opposite side moved out the way because I nearly drifted the truck and almost came into a complete stop. I learned that mistake and I'm grateful we didn't get in a accident.

Oh, that reminds me. A few years ago, I was 19 and still living at home (and still am today, shamefully), and my mother went on vacation for a week while I was working at Fred Meyer. I got the bright idea to prank her by "ricing" her XTerra SUV while she was away, then coming to pick her up from the airport in it and acting like nothing had happened. I'd planned to use some stick-on "turbo" badges, bullet-shaped tire valve caps, "black ice" vent clip air fresheners or at least something similar, and maybe some other stickers or something (don't remember anymore), all bought from the store I was working at. Well - as far as the turbo badges, the store only had one left and I couldn't be sure I'd be able to get it off again without wrecking the paint, so I passed on that. I bought some of the air fresheners and tried them in my own car first; they just about gave me a headache and since she's much more sensitive to chemical smells than I am, I decided not to defile her car with them. The bullet valve stem caps, she actually liked, and kept right up until she hit a moose on a dark night and had to switch to a new car.
I got lucky as my first car was a 2016 civic. I took over the lease from a relative and paid monthly on it for a year. Now I got myself a G37 and Ive never been happier. If you want something you just gotta work for it 🤷🏻♀️

My country is a little different than the U.S. Most people get their cars in their 20's or 30's, depending on how much money you make. (Or 18, if your family is really rich) And by the time you're in your 20's, you generally wouldn't have the mindset of trying to modify your car, or trying to make your car and yourself look cool. Moreover, the government here is always a bit of an ass when it comes to car modifying, and that's why you don't see much modified cars on the streets. Oh and in case you're wondering why people buy cars that late here, is mainly because that nobody are allowed to drive cars until you get your licence at the age of 18; at that this country isn't really that rich.
I agree with the drive responsibly one. I am a sophomore right now, but between last summer and the end of my freshman year, 4 different kids at my school died in car accidents and like 5 or 6 others hospitalized. And my school isn’t huge, only about 1k students. At least 2 of those deaths could have been prevented with seat belts and at least one of the others from common sense and caution. People need to learn this better and understand the pain it caused everybody.

Had the same thing in my high school too. You could always hear who could drive and who couldn't just from the clanking of the keys all the way down the hall. It wasn't even a practicality thing, they all wore massive baggy jeans and sagged their pants, they definitely had room for those keys in their pockets. I know the one thing all the truck guys would do is at the end of the day when all the cars leaving the parking lot lined up at the exit, when one of the truck guys would leave they’d try as hard as possible to squeal their tires or do a burnout. I even saw a guy with probably the most dented, rusty beat to hell Ford Ranger with a 4 cylinder drop their clutch and squeal their tires. Funniest thing I did in my truck was when I got sick of waiting to back out, so I put my truck in first to keep it from shifting and drove over the curb divider sidewalk thing. The looks I got were hilarious. I was also known to drive over the curb through the grass at the high school exit to get into the right turn lane. Advice for anyone, don’t look over that old beat up pickup for a first car, they are fun vehicles, no worry about breaking anything.
I live in Europe, where you can't get a license before 18. I was also a boring teenager. I did love cars and I did want to mod my car, but I had no money for proper mods and waited and saved money before I did anything to my car. The mods I did to my car were an OEM AMG front bumper, AMG wheels, red brake calipers, OEM bi-xenon headlights, new Dynavin headunit after the original broke and an ECU remap. All done through my university years. Most of it I did myself. I also drove fast. I mean, you would wouldn't you. You are 19, you are in a sleek, luxurious Mercedes. You are VIP and need to get everywhere in VIP time. My first car is a 2005 C220 CDI Mercedes full spec, Elegance trim. It was my dad's car, before he bought an SUV. He gave me the car as a gift to being accepted into university. I've loved the car ever since he bought it in 2005 and I've been keeping her in almost showroom condition ever since. I paid for the insurance and maintenance from my own money, never asked my parents for money. I still have my first car and it's my weekend car now. Getting an easy life as a garage princess. Along with my 2nd weekend car a 2007 E420 CDI full spec with AMG package. I modded this one too, but I'm no longer a teenager so no reason to talk about it here. My daily is my company car.

I have never done any of these. I mean, there are some pretty huge stretches. I once painted pieces of my interior blue to accent. I put a body kit on, but people liked it. It won car shows. I added racing seats, but it was for aesthetics, not weight reduction. I removed the rear seat and added a rear seat delete, but the delete was heavy because it needed the structural integrity to house two heavy sub woofers and an amp. As for racing, only legal autocross. The only illegal street racing was after someone launched from a light before me. I never challenged anyone. And I never went above 5-10 mph above the speed limit when this happened. I still own that car BTW. Got it when I was 16, and 21 years later, I still love driving it.

When I got my first car (85 Pontiac fiero v6) I paid for the car, registration and insurance, ( under my moms name. Pretty cheap car to insure btw. $50 a month for full coverage.) it was definitely the kind of car you could have a lot of fun with. Yes it had aftermarket wheels I found on marketplace, and aftermarket radio. The coolest thing about that car is that it has speakers in the seats so I really didn’t needs subwoofers.
I’m currently 17 and drive a 2011 Citroen C1 (which I purchased myself). Safe to say I’m not an average teen driver. It has a three cylinder 998cc 68bhp engine and can do 98mph, not that I care. I’ve put a greyscale union flag on the roof (like a Mini) which actually looks quite nice on the silver paintwork, put beaded seat covers on the front seats and filled it with Citroen merch. I’m talking Citroen air-fresheners, Citroen floor mats, Citroen seat belt covers, Citroen sunglasses ect.

Oh, that reminds me. A few years ago, I was 19 and still living at home (and still am today, shamefully), and my mother went on vacation for a week while I was working at Fred Meyer. I got the bright idea to prank her by "ricing" her XTerra SUV while she was away, then coming to pick her up from the airport in it and acting like nothing had happened. I'd planned to use some stick-on "turbo" badges, bullet-shaped tire valve caps, "black ice" vent clip air fresheners or at least something similar, and maybe some other stickers or something (don't remember anymore), all bought from the store I was working at. Well - as far as the turbo badges, the store only had one left and I couldn't be sure I'd be able to get it off again without wrecking the paint, so I passed on that. I bought some of the air fresheners and tried them in my own car first; they just about gave me a headache and since she's much more sensitive to chemical smells than I am, I decided not to defile her car with them. The bullet valve stem caps, she actually liked, and kept right up until she hit a moose on a dark night and had to switch to a new car.
I'm 21 and I still shamelessly have black ice air freshener in my car. I just love the smell.

I’m a teenager, i as most Swedish teens I spent 2 year “learning” how to drive, basically driving like most other people but with a green “övningskörnings skylt” (learners sight) and as required by Swedish law with a instructor (one of my parents) by my side.
I past my drives tests both the theoretical and the actual driving test on my first attempt.
After passing I bought my self a manual Volvo V50 1.6D Drive E which i have and will be keeping stock.

It is rather simple i love driving and I want to drive as much as possible, owning a car in Sweden is expensive but thankfully my V50 only cost me about $100 (USD) in yearly vehicle tax, has a fuel consumption about 4.5-4.9 liters per 100km which is extremely important as there is over 60% tax on diesel bringing the cost to about $2 (USD) per liter.
For some scale on how expensive vehicle tax can get here in Sweden.

Most people get their cars in their 20's or 30's, depending on how much money you make. (Or 18, if your family is really rich)
And by the time you're in your 20's, you generally wouldn't have the mindset of trying to modify your car, or trying to make your car and yourself look cool.
Moreover, the government here is always a bit of an ass when it comes to car modifying, and that's why you don't see much modified cars on the streets.
Oh and in case you're wondering why people buy cars that late here, is mainly because that nobody are allowed to drive cars until you get your licence at the age of 18; at that this country isn't really that rich.

I agree with the drive responsibly one. I am a sophomore right now, but between last summer and the end of my freshman year, 4 different kids at my school died in car accidents and like 5 or 6 others hospitalized. And my school isn’t huge, only about 1k students. At least 2 of those deaths could have been prevented with seat belts and at least one of the others from common sense and caution. People need to learn this better and understand the pain it caused everybody.

As a teen I drove several of my family members cars, a Saturn ( awful) a 95 Mazda 626 (dangerous) a 90's Cadillac Deville and 06 Mazda 6, all the way to into college til I got my own car at 20, a 99 Camaro, died after 6 mo, then it was back to sharing until grad school when I bought a 03 Civic, I'm 26 now, still in grad school, currently drive the 14 Camaro LT2 RS, now planning for a 6th gen SS 1LE.
Plastidip can work magic on the appearance of rims. My 1999 Camry is curbrash central with rust stains and Plastidip made them presentable.

Had the same thing in my high school too. You could always hear who could drive and who couldn't just from the clanking of the keys all the way down the hall. It wasn't even a practicality thing, they all wore massive baggy jeans and sagged their pants, they definitely had room for those keys in their pockets. I wear skinny jeans so I need to have my keys on my belt or else they won't fit in my pockets. My phone barely fits in my pocket, even.

in India, you just have to be 18. go for a driver's test which consists of going down a straight road, taking a U-turn, and coming down the same road to the inspector at low speeds(alone). BOOM! now you can go and drive a ferrari lol
I know the one thing all the truck guys would do is at the end of the day when all the cars leaving the parking lot lined up at the exit, when one of the truck guys would leave they’d try as hard as possible to squeal their tires or do a burnout. I even saw a guy with probably the most dented, rusty beat to hell Ford Ranger with a 4 cylinder drop their clutch and squeal their tires. Funniest thing I did in my truck was when I got sick of waiting to back out, so I put my truck in first to keep it from shifting and drove over the curb divider sidewalk thing. The looks I got were hilarious. I was also known to drive over the curb through the grass at the high school exit to get into the right turn lane. Advice for anyone, don’t look over that old beat up pickup for a first car, they are fun vehicles, no worry about breaking anything.
I live in Europe, where you can't get a license before 18. I was also a boring teenager. I did love cars and I did want to mod my car, but I had no money for proper mods and waited and saved money before I did anything to my car. The mods I did to my car were an OEM AMG front bumper, AMG wheels, red brake calipers, OEM bi-xenon headlights, new Dynavin headunit after the original broke and an ECU remap. All done through my university years. Most of it I did myself.
I also drove fast. I mean, you would wouldn't you. You are 19, you are in a sleek, luxurious Mercedes. You are VIP and need to get everywhere in VIP time.
My first car is a 2005 C220 CDI Mercedes full spec, Elegance trim. It was my dad's car, before he bought an SUV. He gave me the car as a gift to being accepted into university. I've loved the car ever since he bought it in 2005 and I've been keeping her in almost showroom condition ever since. I paid for the insurance and maintenance from my own money, never asked my parents for money.
I still have my first car and it's my weekend car now. Getting an easy life as a garage princess. Along with my 2nd weekend car a 2007 E420 CDI full spec with AMG package. I modded this one too, but I'm no longer a teenager so no reason to talk about it here. My daily is my company car.

I have never done any of these. I mean, there are some pretty huge stretches. I once painted pieces of my interior blue to accent. I put a body kit on, but people liked it. It won car shows. I added racing seats, but it was for aesthetics, not weight reduction. I removed the rear seat and added a rear seat delete, but the delete was heavy because it needed the structural integrity to house two heavy sub woofers and an amp. As for racing, only legal autocross. The only illegal street racing was after someone launched from a light before me. I never challenged anyone. And I never went above 5-10 mph above the speed limit when this happened. I still own that car BTW. Got it when I was 16, and 21 years later, I still love driving it.

When I got my first car (85 Pontiac fiero v6) I paid for the car, registration and insurance, ( under my moms name. Pretty cheap car to insure btw. $50 a month for full coverage.) it was definitely the kind of car you could have a lot of fun with. Yes it had aftermarket wheels I found on marketplace, and aftermarket radio. The coolest thing about that car is that it has speakers in the seats so I really didn’t needs subwoofers.
I’m currently 17 and drive a 2011 Citroen C1 (which I purchased myself). Safe to say I’m not an average teen driver. It has a three cylinder 998cc 68bhp engine and can do 98mph, not that I care. I’ve put a greyscale union flag on the roof (like a Mini) which actually looks quite nice on the silver paintwork, put beaded seat covers on the front seats and filled it with Citroen merch. I’m talking Citroen air-fresheners, Citroen floor mats, Citroen seat belt covers, Citroen sunglasses ect.
