  • The Comanches reigned supreme in West Texas for 150 years until the Buffalo hunters arrived large numbers in 1870s. Buffalo Gap is a small town that began as a result of this chapter of Texas history.

Buffalo Gap! Went there when I was stationed at Dyess AFB and I loved it.
It was also mentioned in an episode of "The Lone Ranger."

Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap is a premier steakhouse in Texas and America. It’s been rated in Texas Monthly. They were setting up on the WH lawn for an event when 9/11 hit. So they fed the first responders instead. They have catered in Japan and for Robert Duvall at his home in Virginia. Missing that was a big omission.

I've been there twice, a great venue, and it's interesting to drive there and then after spending a lot of time there because there is much to see and enjoy, I recommend continuing on to Fort Phantom hill, an old cavalry fort, complete with its own ghost story! Worth the scenic drive to both venues. Thanks, Secrets of Texas for this great post.

How "wanderful" to see old Buffalo Gap again! Even if is by way of a video only. My beloved husband, my soulmate, and I have been there. We loved villages such as this. Anything historical, and heck, hysterical :) Great memories to behold.
Thanks so much Secrets of Texas for sharing these awesome videos

My wife and I stayed at a neat 1880’s two story house there which is now a B&B. We toured the museum grounds too. A year later I bought my sister a steak dinner at nearby Perini Ranch.

These old town are amazing and so full of history. I just made a trip to Terlingua. I was surprised of how much it has to offer. Now is the perfect time to do the river raft trip through Santa Elena Canyon. The water is high and at a perfect flow. My nephew Chris is a guide on the Rio Grande with Big Bend Boating and Hiking Company. They also do overnight trips on river and trail hike tours. Amazing trips! Hope you can get a chance to see it.

We visited here 3 years ago. Worth your time. Remember, no striking matches on the courthouse walls and don't spit on the floor. $10 dollar fine says the sign.

Just a heads up to everyone,
I can pick up packages of ground Buffalo meat at my local HEB store,
The meat is very tasty and super lean ,
It makes awesome hamburgers out on the grill, not too mention really great vegetable -beef soups, especially with cornbread ,
I really believe that they sale larger cuts of Buffalo meat too??,
But bUFFALO is definitely something good for people who are on a
    Low-fat , or a restricted fat diet,
    But bUFFALO is awesome ,
    Enjoy the show
