they're really an oddball and really interesting. own a group of 4 in a 24-26 degree. at first they literally jostling around. after a couple of day they stopped and start being peaceful to each other.
I keep three in my 125 gal. They are definitely characters. They completely changed my tank. They don't bother with any of the other tank mates, and they dont get bothered or bullied.
These little guys are so awesome and cool to see. Never seen them before so can't wait to see updates and progress with them. Looks like they were establishing their pecking order in a similar way to Bristlenose chasing eachother around and barging bodies
I have four of these little beauties in a 1 gallon cylindrical tank with a super small filtered power head injecting a fast vertical flow of aerated water down the side of the tank. Easiest care fish ever with a 33% water change every two weeks and feeding them only on algae wafers, with no problems for over two years now.
I believe the only breeding report is that the water was really warm, close to 90F, and then water was dropped, and they dug out small pits in the gravel to lay eggs in. Keeper was unsuccessful at raising fry though. Either that or hormones... 😕 Also, keep the lights on high! They're very territorial. Females have wider abdomens. Any breeding behavior yet? And soilent green is their preferred green repashy flavor apparently 😜
The report can be found on the Loaches Online forum aswell as in SeriouslyFish. Fry rearing was successful on the second attempt. Similar to the reticulated hillstream loaches Sewellia lineolata, the fry simply appeared overtime and the parents seemingly did not predate on them
I have 5 of these and only ever seen all 5 of them once in January of this year. Nowadays I only ever see 2 or 3 at max every few weeks they are extremely good at hiding
I just picked up some Borneo Suckers. I've been looking for breeding videos, with no luck. Can you give use and update? were you able to breed them? If so, how did you do it? Thanks.
I bought some hillstream loaches cuz they looked cool and weird... the experts said they would never breed, not enough flow, not enough boulders.... well I guess they didn't get the memo. Good job. Oh, you will want to be putting a pop sock over that matten filter pipe outlet though, they will go investigate that at some point. when you watch them, set an alarm... hours can accidentally fly by :)
I have 5 of these guys with my 2 fantails in a 70 gallon. At first they were completely shy and would avoid any interaction but overtime they are now out and about and generally don't care about the fantails lol.
omg you're actually local to me! I reconize that Aquarium, my favorite one to visit! Right now they have beautiful Alien Bettas for $20ea! You should have a go at breeding them ^^
Technically they don’t climb out. They rush up the tank sides and if it’s rimless, there’s nothing to stop them popping out of the tank. Was that a blood worm or black worm in the bucket? Always a pleasure
nice nice, keep up the great work dude! , i got a group of chinese hillstream loach (pseudogastromyzon cheni) very stunning patterns tiger stripes mixed with dots on them with a red strip on the dorsal fin, can watch them for hours
Keen to see how your breeding project goes mate :) Just a heads up from my experience of keeping them, 24degrees is around max temp you want. I lost all of mine in a tank at 27degrees before I did more research :( Ideally 23.8 is their best temp :) Hope it helps, keen to see more vids man :) keep it up
Have ones with blue on the tail. They are so pretty and fun to watch. Trying to figure out different types. Like are they all super small? Are stripes vs spots the only difference or are there differences in their temperaments? Overall really fun and different. When people visit they always ask me what they are❤
Hey. I am getting a butterfly telescope goldfish in about a week. My tank has been cycling for about 4 weeks now. It still has cloudy water and I don’t know what to do. It is a 20 gallon long with a filter and an air stone that is a good flow for the goldfish. Thanks
Yo mate. Glad you got these cool fishes. I got fish like this last month and I absolutely love them, but sadly they didnt last long. I will wait for the updates in them so I can buy again and maybe get some new pointers. Cheers!
Ok ik this is not related but if anyone can help me I have one Cory Dora out of five and he keeps blowing bubbles and I read online bubbles could lack oxygen but I have an air pump and it some people say it could be ammonia. Also they sed it was normal but he is the only one doing. I’m very worried about him.
Watch out for outdated info on these. I have mine in a 55g denison barb tank with angelfish. They don't need fast moving water and mine are thriving at 80 degrees Fahrenheit. These are one of those fishes that don't really need their natural environment to be happy. Smooth stones to graze on is a must though
@@KeepingFishSimple my mind is all over the place with ideas. What do you think about 5 discus, 2-4 German blue rams, a school of rummynose, cardinal tetras, and 6 corydoras? Is it a good idea for my new 75 gallon? What would you get rid of?
@@KeepingFishSimple omgggg one thing you need to get! Are dojo loaches and I just got a bunch more I love how they will always come to the surface and you can stick your fingy in and they'll sucker on your finger if you get the timing right they're so goofy I had chance to get super HUGGEEEE non albino one at a far pet store for a dollar but I already was paying 200$ for 2 ranchus:(
Gosh dang I learned that half way threw video m thanks I want some but my set up is all river gravel and drift wood idk if they would like it o feel they need alot of big rocks. Place by me had panda gobys and I didn't get them for same reason
i thought they were the same thing basically... just different names e.g Yoyo Loach = Pakistani Loach.... doesnt really matter i dont think ill keep em cool as they are

Really enjoyed this video! Really liked the closeups of the loaches - the blue on the tail is AMAZING!!!
Wow. You are really expanding your selection.
Can't wait to see them

Watch at night time, Iridescent blue flag tail fights awesome. Once adjusted mine stay down the bottom.

Love the vlogs man! Just Bought a book from your site cant wait!!
I just got mine this week... they have such personality! I was told by my local fish shop that true hill stream loaches aren’t available for import...
I thinks so as I bought "hill stream loaches" but they look exactly like these little guys so not sure
Have been watching your channel for a few weeks now, love your content, and your approach to breeding. Keep it up mate. Love from Wales

Good luck with these guys. I had 6 and all but one found the tiniest gaps in my lids, so watch out.
damn
Borneo loaches are so cute.
It took a few minutes, but I seen the blue in the tail. They look awesome!

Matey you rock with your video topics and thourough details
First, was hoping you would put up a new video, these fish look so cool, they look like fatter hillstream loaches
Glad you like them!
Thanks for the great video. They remind me a little of dodgem cars on the rocks
Loving the zoo York tee shirt 👌🏻❤️
Hi Nick!
Did you ever have success breeding the Borneos?
Thanks!
I ordered a spotted one but it came doa, so I picked up a reticulated one at lfs. I like the tiger one a lot too

Once I had one but the gap at the top of the tank was too big and it climbed up and dried out
sad
Love these fish. At least you know what they are. MD didn't, and decided to just call them Hillstreams, even after told otherwise, hahaha!
Finally I find out which type I have. Mine is the same 😎

Hi, love your channel, at 2:56 in the shop there is a fish with a blue body and gold head and fins, what type of fish is this please?
anyone can help identify the fish please?
Blue ram cichlids I believe
very nice video--interesting and informative!
Update on breeding please!
Do you have any update? Have you bred them now?
One of mine climbed out and I found his little body dried to a crisp
Have you seen the Saddle back loach. Their pattern is beautiful. Thanks
love your videos , all off good inform
Loving the content! Keep it up ❤️
I have an interisting mix of colours including golden
Another great video.
Amazing video
Nice! Those are awesome!
Glad you like them!
Make some more repashy and put it on the rocks in the tank. That’s how I’ve done it
Couldn't find mine after a week turns out they were chilling in the matten filter jetlifter tube 😳
If you can breed these your a champion
A Borneo Sucker is a HIlstream Loach but not all Hillstream Loaches are Borneo Suckers....
They are different spesies and genus tho
Yo mate. Glad you got these cool fishes. I got fish like this last month and I absolutely love them, but sadly they didnt last long. I will wait for the updates in them so I can buy again and maybe get some new pointers. Cheers!
Sorry to hear that

Hi, just sharing my video one year later after I got them. ruclips.net/video/EMdQcLikXlg/видео.html
At my hometown, you just need the net and catch them at the river... i'm indonesian
True, i hope i can go to south borneo to catch these cute fish, it is so expensive in my region😢

Can you breed boerno loach with hilstream loach?
Try to get a wave maker they love the high flow of the water
Not necessarily. They just live in those environments. Typically they try to stay in the lower flow if possible.
@@NateK-MN ok 👍
Aye really nice looking fish!
I think so too!
Interesting behavior is them gaining territory
So cool
Can you please do a video on balloon mollies and good tank mates for them we can access in Australia? Love your videos by the way!
Anything smaller they will go just fine with, I have them in a community tank
@@tommiddup398 Thank you 😊
They look really active lol
Keen to know when you will be selling your Altums
Interesting fish.
How are they doing now
Do you think I can keep 5-6 discus, 2-4 German blue rams, and maybe a few kuhli loaches or dwarf gouramis in a 75 gallon tank?
yes
