La Palma volcano: Drone video shows "lava lakes" flowing as earthquakes rattle island

  • Dozens of earthquakes were reported on the Spanish island of La Palma over the past couple of days, while red-hot lava continued to flow from the Cumbre Vieja volcano.
    Drone footage showed the increased activity of the volcano after part of the crater collapsed and unleashed a cascade of faster-moving and thicker lava.
    One official said the crater was "like a dam" because when the wall collapsed, fiery molten rock poured out from a "lava lake" inside.
    Roughly 1,000 buildings have been destroyed since the eruption began on September 19 and 6,000 people have been evacuated.

    I know that it's a horrible tragedy for the local population, but it's still so beautiful. The volcano ash is a great fertilizer for the plants, so in few years there can grow an amazing forest.

      A few years? Try 200-400 years for just plants. It takes 1000 years or more for an ecosystem to develop/return after being ravaged by a volcano…

      @CasuallyObservant 2 года назад +18

      @@Chimera_Photography - I think he is referring to the loose ash that has fallen on everything. It will be good for the soil, and the plants can use the nutrients as long as the plants were left standing, unharmed and not suffocated or burned by the falling powder. The molten lava of course, will not allow growth on it for untold numbers of years.

      Thank you for the answers. I don't think there would be a warning. Several buoys the USA has to detect a tsunami aren’t working and I don’t think there would be a warning if they were. The volcano is a mile wide. It’s all a matter of speculation and opinion how large the tsunami would be if a large chunk did fall. Some say it would be large,some say small. Pressure underneath the volcano has increased, earthquakes are about every 15 minutes,last I heard. Numerous fissures are affecting Co2 levels much more than humans ever could.

    • @zellorz
      @zellorz 2 года назад

      @@rendafranker7088 Of course there would be a warning. From buoys and satellites to people reporting it, there would be some time to get ready. Not nearly enough to save everyone, that's for sure, and the damage could be cataclysmic. Anyway, it's all speculation, we know nothing for sure.

      @@user-vm7cp2kh1e The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Kilauea, the Iceland volcanoes, La Palma, and all the other volcanoes erupting around the world. It's hard to believe this is the planet I live on. Deadly and amazing all at the same time. I guess the good thing is that Yellowstone has been pretty quiet and the casualties have been next to none as far as I know. Stay safe out there.

    All these events are the events of the last days and indeed the world is heading towards the end. People must make their lives right with Christ because all what the Bible has mentioned is indeed coming to pass. Let's get back to the Lord and its not only for people living in such an area, but this is a wake up call to the whole world at large.
