    THIS STORY:
Mimi Forsythe was born on December 13, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She was an actress, known for Sensations of 1945 (1944) and Three Russian Girls (1943). She was previously married to James Parnell Turner, Warren Leslie McCanless and Benedict Bogeaus.
She died on August 17, 1952 in Hollywood, California.
    THIS CHANNEL:
    _________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
    Some are famous.
    And some infamous....
    ....and some with tragic endings.

FOTF Sub "@guinea.pig-mommy" came up with some great facts!
    1) She is interred above her father, probably unmarked because of suicide.
    2) It wasn't "her" father that she asked to take custody of her child just before she died, but actually the CHILD'S father, Ben Bogeous. Mimi asked in 1952 so that would explain that.

That's sad how they did things back then.. unmarked because she was a suicide.. She should have her name etc on her resting spot.. She came in this world ..lived life ..She matters.

@@laurasharp9488 Yes but the church has no clue who is buried in a plot once it is sold. I know of a friend who took his own life and was buried in a catholic cemetery.

30+ years in police work with last 14 in CSI. We had to investigate every death not medically attended, which adds up to a LOT of death situations with families. Every decedent has a different background and path of life that leads to their end, self-inflicted or "natural". Suicides were the toughest to deal with because of families. Most accept the unpleasant truth, some try to figure out WHY.
Some families, especially parents, absolutely refuse to accept suicide, most often because of religious beliefs of going to hell if you kill yourself. If its a drug overdose and the family is rich and well known in the area, the family want any drug reference omitted in publicly accessed records. If the kid was an incorrigible criminal he could easily get an unmarked grave or just a small marker with his/her name. Small to not draw attention.
Mimi's well to do background and societal position would be high profile suicide. I can easily see the dad leaving her crypt unmarked to avoid reminding people of Mimi. This could happen in 2023 but is less likely with more societal awareness. However there's still a stigma attached to suicide whether you agree or not. There's still millions of people in the US who have not changed their core beliefs about suicide.
That's my theory on experience and knowing the public attitude back then. Parents don't want to be known as the parents whose daughter killed herself. I don't blame them as I'd rather not be known only as fathering a kid who committed suicide. It sticks in people's minds if your name is well known.

Could her family have been ashamed of her being an 'actress', which was a looked down upon profession. Since they were upper crust,it would have been a scandal, or the manner in which she died.

What a sad story. I have mental illnesses and am always saddened by stories like hers, knowing that's probably how it went. I see someone else's comment about her being in an unmarked one. I wonder if they kept it unmarked at the time to keep the public away. People are weird about seeking out graves of famous people. That building is incredible. I love all the stained glass as well as the main room with the amazing ceiling. I will say though, the benches in that main room look like giant ice cream sandwiches, and now I cannot unsee it.

Very interesting. I love these kinds of stories. She had to have killed herself. Otherwise, that would be one heck of a coincidence to give her son up and then be found dead two days later. I've always said that depression is a silent killer. It's Weird, though, that her grave isn't marked. Especially for someone who became an actress and wanted to be well known. I've never seen an indoor mausoleum that's gated like this. Either way, may she rest in eternal peace and happiness. It's great to see you and Brittan together again. I hope there's more in the future. Good luck to Brittan on the Chicago Stories film. I definitely want to know when it will be out and where I can watch it! ❤💐

There has been a huge void in the Chicago ghost hunter/lore scene since Richard Crowe passed. He was a frequent guest on the late Chicago Eddie Schwartz’s WIND talk radio show in the 1970’s and 80’s, and conducted ghost tours in the Chicagoland area. It would be great if someone picked up the mantle and carried on. Plenty of subject matter here to keep you two guys busy, you’d make a great team.

Back in the olden days( not that long ago) suicide was considered a mortal sin and something like that or other scandalous situations were seen as impediment to burial in " hallowed ground" But the Catholic church has changed its views and adjusted cathecism and canon law in regards to suicide and burial in Catholic cemetery. With more knowledge that we have these days regarding mental illness and suicide, someone who commits suicide is essentially as seen as someone who was in alot of distress and essentially not in their right mind at the time they commit suicide. They can be accorded a full catholic funeral and burial in a Catholic cemetery and we are to pray for their souls as we would anyone else , and pray especially for the family . However the stigma of suicide , disgrace, shame etc continues and many Catholics( and non Catholics) are not aware of the change or cling to the old views . Its a family secret- in many families- been there.......

It is a beautiful place to be laid to rest. Maybe it’s because of my background and culture but I find it difficult to accept being buried in above ground vaults like these. Buildings are impermanent and most do not last forever. We bury our dead in the ground in armchair graves (old practise was 7-10 years then exhume what’s left, cremate and keep in the family niche or temple, old grave can be reused-but this is no longer the case) but cremation is the preferred method nowadays.

Very mysterious that she gave her child to her Dad and then died. Very mysterious that her grave was not marked. Did I hear right that her grave was robbed?
