Since I’ve been on birth control I have had less depressive episodes and thoughts of suicide, as well as zero anemia. That last part was the result of frequent heavy periods that actually lowered my white blood cell count leaving me in a very weak state. It was either take birth control or let that continue in my already anxious depressed state that was even worse than it was now.
Sometimes abortion is a necessary medical procedure, not just "hitting the reset button after a roll in the hay."

Having children actually made me much more progressive. I'm struggling just to make a decent life for myself and my family. I want my children to have a much easier path. I never want them to experience the stress and anxiety my wife and I deal with all the time. We do our best to to shield them as much as possible.
As I see more of these conservative men talk, I understand their frustration. I don’t know any women that would want to date them.🤷🏼♀️

Birth control pills are problematic for some women. So other forms of contraceptives. What worries me is that after the Supreme Court overturned abortion, CONTRACEPTIVES are NEXT for the chopping block. Do women really want to be constantly pregnant? Do women like NOT planning when their lives are ready for the responsibility of a child? I don't think so!

Birth control is not for everyone but it raised the quality of my life & lots of women. I had extremely painful periods to the point of passing out, thanks to birth control i simply can decide not to have periods & live a more functional & happy life. Right wingers dont like women being in control of their own bodies or overall lives, thats what birth control does. Women can choose. They started with abortions, now birth control the next step education & finances... Goodluck America or ig Gilead.

The reason people become more conservative as they get older is because they stop learning and start assuming they know everything. Most of politics boils down to cultural stuff, and any change in culture is always at the forefront of politics. If you look at actual issues, most people agree on basic policies like we should fund fire departments, police departments, have social security, that insurance is pretty crazy, that housing is way too expensive, that public education needs improvement, etc.
What happens is that these new cultural topics are used to scare the elderly people into going to the right because it's unfamiliar and makes them uncomfortable because it's a new thing they haven't encountered before, where they then are brainwashed to believe things like the rich people are paying too much in taxes (they pay the least of anyone), that immigrants are causing all the crime (they cause less than native born Americans on average), that regulations are what is making the economy tough (regulations hold companies accountable instead of letting them turn into abusive monopolies), and other talking points.
It's especially egregious nowadays where the older generation did not grow up with social media and the internet, and they never really learned how to navigate it and fact check things. They get themselves into a bubble because algorithms suggest similar content to what they search for, and then believe everything they read online. They are LITERALLY in an alternate reality, one fabricated by right wing propaganda groups funded by hedge fund managers and oil billionaires and lobbyists and Christian extremists. In previous times there was simply a complete lack of knowledge fueling fears that led to conservatism, it's now an active brainwashing machine.
I agree with all that but I wouldn't even say people get "more conservative" with age, it's just that they seem conservative compared to the steady progress (as in progressive-ness) of younger generations. The Hippies of the late 60's aren't more conservative now that they're called "Boomers." -In their youth it was progressive to believe stuff like sex before marriage isn't disgraceful and fighting in a war isn't the ultimate show of patriotism, or at least nobody should be forced to. They still believe those things, and they're just standard "duh!" beliefs of the generations that followed them. But _gay_ sex or marriage, and _gay_ people in the military ..... well that's a bridge too far for many Boomers.

Actually, I was deeply DEEPLY conservative when I was young...to the point where I refused to accept any government benefits, not even medical insurance, despite being very poor and needing it. I tried to pay for all medical expenses out of pocket, going so far as working to 9 1/2 months pregnant to pay 100% out of pocket for all of my prenatal care and birth expenses. That is how conservative I was.
Then I grew up and realized that all these conservative thought leaders would be happy to take something for nothing, were happy to take hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations, and that these people were hypocrites who were happy to see me suffer and my family suffer by refusing medical care for myself or going hungry for a few days...then I stopped listening and I starting taking. It is sad that it took the pandemic - and seeing how these conservatives act when THEY are the ones that might not have enough - for me to open my eyes and realize that they only hold the positions they do because they only care about themselves. I am a very moral person and I want to do what's right, and I believed these lies about social welfare - this lie about the unfair redistribution of wealth unjustly enriching poor people, this lie that welfare programs and socialized medicine is 'stealing' from the wealthy citizens who 'earned' their money. LIES! ALL LIES!
It also took me until age 40 to chill out and not worry so much about other people making personal decisions. Should I care about others? Yes. Does it hurt me or society if, for example, another woman decides abortion is right for her? No.
I am far far more left wing and more liberal now as a middle aged adult lady than when I was a naive young conservative girl.

I've never been a bitter or angry person cause of my birth control pill. I've never wanted to "kill" someone being on it. What it has helped with is make it so I'm not having massively painful cramps and heavy flows. If Charlie had to bleed for almost a week with heavy flows and painful cramps that can make a person unable to move, and then have to push a watermelon out of a small exit, perhaps he'd have a different opinion and a more empathetic person. However that is doubtful.

I am so blessed that as problematic as mine can be, I'm not a PCOS, endometriosis, or killer-cramp sufferer. Mine do trigger debilitating migranes, though, but an IUI has helped immensely with those.

Hilarious, as he would never have taken any & isn't a doctor, BTW Charlie, birth control pills also help women w/ heavy periods, irregular periods, endometriosis, etc. and I'm just a woman who has taken them i.e. not a doctor so there are probably lots of other issues, beside birth control that I don't know about. Also there are many different types of pills & if a woman is having side effects she should consult her doctor (& Not a politician). It is possible she may not have symptoms w/ a different pill.
