Thanks for the video. My UDM Pro uses the new GUI and I don't have the uplink entries you talk about, just a general the "Uplink Connectivity Monitor" in the system -> Application configuration. I have a base AC Pro and I'd like to use a spare AC Lite in the mesh setting. I reset the AC Lite to factory default I can see it's waiting to be adopted but the adoption fails. After a few attempts, it's stuck in adopting but it's doesn't really work. I cycled power a couple of times and in the end it worked. Thanks for the video.
No problem. Glad it all worked out. Keep in mind you can always switch back to the old GUI for the UDM Pro. Not sure all the setting are still there though.
I just setup a UAP-AC-M 500' away at my barn and intended it not to work until my AC nano arrives, however it auto meshed with my Unifi 6 lite and my phone works up to 200ft away from the UAP-AC-M.
Great video! I have the ac m and ac m pro. Ac m pro is connected to my isp router where dhcp also runs. Ac m is unable to connect to the pro as uplink. Do I need a ubiquiti Ap for this solution to work? Because I think I have everything done as in your video but doesn't work for my case
I have not tried to configure this AP as standalone before. For the solution in this video to work you need the Unifi network controller software and adopt your APs
Hi Awesome video.I have a UDM with a AC PRO inside and a UAP-AC-M on the outside .If I want to extend my outside coverage ,without wiring ,do you believe that some UAP-AC-M and the uplink is the solution?
So I've been daisy chaining my AC pro's. What I think your saying is I only need to bring internet to 1 ac pro, just plug the rest into the wall and they will all work??
Thanks for the video. Have you had any issues with iOS MacOS devices dropping from the Unifi Network? I’m looking to make the switch to Unifi, but I’m concerned with recent reports of iOS devices dropping from the network. I’m not sure a fix has been released yet.
Hi - I have an existing router which is NOT a Unify. I want to extend the range of my original router's SSID using UNIFY discs but I do not want the degraded performance of having a wireless mesh. I would rather use the ethernet cables run from my router to the UNIFY disks to extend my original router's SSID so I get full performance. I do NOT want multiple SSIDs. Is this possible? No video I watch answers this question directly. Assume I have POE concerns all taken care of.
Hi, I am ok to run a cable to two or three APs, but want proper handover of clients, will this support this? Also, for roaming between APs over extended space, do I have to have UDM? or can I use the app for that? I only have edge router X.
You can run cables from your switch to the APs. You can run the unified network controller software on your PC or raspberry pi or invest in a cloud key.
Hi Is it possible to mehs your network when you have few access points connected from the switch? Or you can only use mesh network when only one device is connected and the rest is wireless
@@InsideWire thanks for your response, but what I meant was, if both AP s or more are connected to a switch using cable can I still mesh them as one SSID and clients can roam between them ?
If I am currently working with another Router (Asus) as my primary device which creates a network SSID that broadcasts both a 2.4 & 5 gHz frequency, will this Unifi device be able to repeat this same network if I create the SSID to be the same credentials as the Asus Router, hopefully creating a "mesh" type network with two brands via ethernet cable? Sorry for the complicated question, but I hope it made sense.
Building 1 - has the backbone ISP, a router... a POE Switch, and a cable up to the AC Pro wifi device.... I want to MESH this to a similar AC Pro Wifi Device in building two, a VERY short distance away... which would also be powered by a POE switch. Since I'm powering the Second Wifi AP with the POE switch... can I plug other devices, cameras, laptops into the POE switch, and use the AC Pro Wifi Devices as a bridge between the buildings, without paying $400 for dedicated "bridge" level devices from Ubiquity? Could I make a poor-man's connection between the buildings with (2) of the a $130 AP's ?
Hi, I've connected one of my ac pros to my home router (wired) and used wireless uplink for the other one. Tried connecting devices for the wired ac pro but it would connect to the wireless one. Any help for this one?
Hi, I dont think there is a specific way to set what AP it connects to. It just depends which one it connects to first. Perhaps move closer to the wired one; disconnect and then re connect.
I have a U6-LR in the house meshed over to a nanoHD in the garage. Problem is the range on the U6-LR is so good that all the devices just keep jumping back over to the U6-LR even if they are within feet of the nanoHD. 80Mhz wide on channel 155 for the U6-LR and of course then the nanoHD. If I cut the power level on the U6-LR it hurts the speed of the connected mesh. Not sure how to solve this one. I have a device connected right now in the garage that's getting a -86dbm signal (12%) when it could connect to the nanoHD and get 99%. Once in a while it does, just doesn't stay. All the latest firmware of course.
That is a tough one. I don't think there is a way to force it to use a specific access point within the software and as you already tried to reduce the power. Guessing it affects your speed when connected to the U6-LR in the garage.
@@InsideWire If I walk into the garage with my watch and phone they will jump to the nanoHD, the device that lives in the garage just loves the U6-LR and won't stay connected to the nanoHD only about 15 ft away. Creating another SSID kind of defeats the purpose of the mesh IMO, so guess I'll just have to live with it. Thanks.
Do i need a USG or Switch to adopt AP AC Pro's Wireless? I tried it a couple of times, but it doesn't work. AP AC Pro on PoE, don't light white, don't apear, don't give the message wireless adopt.... what i do wrong?
I am about to configure 5nos Unify AP AC LR in next week. I need to Keep same ssid in all Unify AP. Do I need to manually add ssid in all AP through controller software. Or is there any way by just 1 settings all 5 Unify ap will have same ssid.. Please shed some light on this.
That’s a really great bit of information. Just upgrading my systems and answered a question I’ve been wondering about.
Thats pretty awesome! I'd be interested to see how your upload/download speeds change as you move further down the chain.
It would be good to see that and also how many access point and you can link together.

@@InsideWire Thx, I noticed but they warn you about possible changes when you switch back.
I believe you loose 1/2 of the bandwidth speed for each hop. With 5Ghz or a few devices likely not a big deal but something to keep in mind.

Nice! Are you noticing any drop in speed?
@@InsideWire yup I get 400 at the house and the barn gets 10-15Mbps download.
It's usable. Hoping my back order Nanostation-ac5 ships soon
Nice one brother, does it mean only Unifi AP AC PRO can do mesh wifi?
Does this work with normal third party router without using Dream machine?
hi, that's a great tutorial,
my question, Can i run the wireless mesh without any controller?

If you are not able to run any wires and you want to extend then yes you can use the uplink feature.

Thanks for the video!

By plug into the wall do you mean just to give power? Then yes but there is a bit of configuring to do in the software

Personally i have not had any issue with iOS or MacOS devices, I have a number in the house.
Thanks for this video. By chance did you check the kind of speeds you were getting when connected to the wireless linked AP?
Unfortunately i didn't, hope to do it in a later video at one point.

Quick question. If I want two access points with two separate SSIDs do I need to create a mesh or can I just use them both Independently?
You can select what SSIDs you wish to broadcast on the APs.

You need the network controller to adopt them. If you don't have a cloud key, then you might want to install it on your desktop or another machine.
What is the point of meshing these.? Is it to provide better wifi in areas which have low signal??
thanks for the info, In your experience, do you know how many users connected at the same time can be supported with 2 synchronized devices?
How many meters distance between the Access point wired and the wireless? Thanks
