- Lilliana Ketchman performs part of a solo ballet variation from La Fille Mal Gardee at Atlanta's Universal Ballet Competition. She competed in the Pre-Competitive Classical Division and the judges awarded her 3rd Place for this performance. She represented Campaneria Ballet School.

Really? I didn't see a back attitude turn in Chloe's solo. It's the same ballet sure, but I'm not sure if the variation is the same.
There is a lot of different versions of the same variation. Its the same dance from the same ballet but just another version of choreography

Yeah the problem is Chloe has bad technique, that’s why it looks different with Lily doing it.
if you cover her face she looks like an adult. Shes so underrated its crazy. Shes by far one of the best dancers to ever be at the aldc and shes only 11
@@nameless9796 I agree with that, but she’s only 11 I think that Chloe was just naturally talented with expressions. I definitely think Lilly is way more advanced then Chloe at that age, but then again she was trained at a ballet school, while Chloe was trained at a small studio in Pittsburgh. I think if Chloe had ended up going full time to the Joffrey ballet school she could’ve been a prima ballerina like you said.
I think Elliana is better.

Her control on her extensions is amazing! And her technique is flawless 😍
Hmmm not flawless, but it’s pretty good. Her facial expressions are incorrect for this variation. She is making a cheesy, jazzy smile with over the top movement with her shoulders. While she should be making a tender, passionate smile. Overall she is a very good dancer… but she is better at other dances like contemporary and jazz and lyrical over ballet.
Also did she quit ballet?

Her technique has improved dramatically, but her facials weren't really appropriate for the variation. Lilly has very "competition dancer" facial expressions, which look kind of odd and cheesy for this variation lol. But she's improved so much, and I'm so excited to see her ballet dancing in future years to come!
@Lotis Tessman I understand. My ballet teacher has always just said a nice smile but not "too" over the top, as it's more about technique. So that's just how I've been trained.

@@elianayvonne7386 her facials didn’t really fit the dance and it just looked like facials you would make in a jazz dance or something. Usually facials in ballet are like a simple, but passionate smile

Wooooow her technique has gotten so good. You can see a lot of her competition dance habits come out (she does the "wind up" when she turns, she is a little too fluid/lyrical in her movements), but imagine - If she actually studies ballet seriously she could actually do really well with future ballet competitions!
this seems very different from a traditional classical style. from her port de bras to her facial expressions. definitely could tell that shes a contemporary based dancer

I think she's gotten a lot better from earlier videos I've seen but yes, american dancers are taught a very different style often. Where they can lift their legs up high but then don't have the balance, feet and dancing inbetween the acts of jumping and flexibility. So if you are used to classical ballet training it looks like they skipped a number of steps.
I would say a normal competitions (like starpower and kar dance etc) dancer
It’s like Russians starting with rhythmic gymnastics. She probably started with jazz and contemporary dance before ballet.
It's insane watching her do this variation right after watching Chloe's 9yo performance. And people have the nerve to think Abby is good training.
do you mind explaining what is considered good technique? i've been watching dance videos since when i can remember but i still don't know what they mean by good technique.

Lilly was also older than Chloe was and was traing in ballet more often when she did this variation. But yes, I agree: Abby's training ain't all that lol

She’s probably not at this level on pointe! Your flat level and pointe level is very different!

She has very good technique and is very precise in her movement I think she should with on being more like gooey Idk how to explain when I was training I would do everything very precise and my teachers would always say be more gooey like melt into the movement
Maybe you mean more like: finishing the movement before going to the next? She tends to cut off some of the movements she makes early. Not everywhere though

I keep forgetting that Lilly went to Campaneria. I go to a studio nearby (where Miguel Campaneria once taught so there’s a bit of a rivalry).

It felt like musical theatre. Ballet is supposed to be more under stated with the faces and more graceful. She has amazing technique but needs to do less theatrical swooshing of the skirt and less over acting. please don't come for me. I love lily, this is constructive critic.

The faces are supposed to look over-the-top and playful. This was a character number and "La Fille Mal Gardee" translates to "The Poorly Guarded Girl"

she’s an incredible dancer but her mother is nuts
personally (no offense) I wouldn't judge Stacey from dance moms, you can have your own opinion but I know that dance moms is reality tv so Stacey had to cause drama to stay on the show. In Lily's vlogs that her mom is in she seems very kind and supportive of Lily's dancing career. I do agree she is an incredible dancer!
The moms act crazy on the show because they know the producers will give their daughters more screen time if they do. Imo i really hate the manufactured drama of dance moms cuz i think it does more harm than good, but i don't believe stacey is as crazy irl as in the show.

not me realizing that I could’ve gone to the same studio that lilliana ketchman went to but I didn’t because my impatient ass didn’t want to wait until december 10’th for free trial class 😭 Atleast the ballet school I go to now (infinity ballet) is good, much better than the one I went to before I moved

@ I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that Chloe was 9 and that Lilly was 11. It would make sense that Lilly has better technique because she has been able to train more, and specifically train in ballet. Chloe's performance was still adorable though.
@@karinal4328 that makes sense, I already though chloe looked younger but I wasn't sure if she was. I feel like artisticallu chloe did a better job though (facial expressions), not so overacted, but I think she'll learn that, 11 is still young enough to work on artistry :)

Her technique is amazing, but her moves are so bouncy and “defined” I just don’t like. Ballet should be more graceful. Whereas her facial expressions I think the same too, they looked so comedic which is not really fit for a ballet dance!
I agree with her facial expression. You can look a little sassy in this variation, but her way of doing it just doesn't suit it right. But I think she can learn on that. How old was she here? (bc I have literally no idea)

Some of her expressions were not fit for ballet. Her technique has definitely improved though. She shouldn’t be on pointe yet though.

@@kelseypayson5789 I mean her turns are pretty good but not gorgeous as her strength and flexibilty. I'm pretty shocked that she didn't win actually. The only reason must be her turns.

And also people don’t play when it comes to ballet competitions. There are really good studios that go to these competitions so she’s lucky to get 3rd
