I'd encourage you to join b/c choir is so much more than what you sing with the group. Me and a few friends used to sing our own stuff backstage in our concerts, I'd get the low notes and my barritone friend would hit those hella high notes like a queen. I miss him, he was like my opposite, anyway, you'll find your group & y'all's ain't gotta sing according to a vocal type when ur just riffing off of eachother. Our honours choir had something called "improv circles" where one person would start with a short repeating riff and everyone would find something that fit with it, and nobody would sing their assigned type I'm an alto 2 and the best feeling is when they give us an SSAA song and we get into the lowww notes like yesss Our teacher calls us Basses when we do that and it's the best feeling I talked a lot here. Ur comment hit me hard cuz in my childhood choir, they would kick out kids who's voices got too low. Usually it was all the boys, but my voice dropped before any of my dude friends. No clue why I couldn't just stay, but I still hung backstage and riffed with em, and I was back the next year when I trained up my high end. I didn't join our choirs until Junior year cause I thought I'd be kicked out for singing too low, but man that's not even what it's about. Find ur place, find ur people ♥️
Jesus is the only way the truth and the life. He loved you enough to die on the cross and rise again on the third day so that you may be forgiven of your sins. Turn from all sin and follow Him. You will be set free and have everlasting life in Heaven. Repent while you still can!

@@Okami_oni it seems like you don't comprehend what a teacher does because that teacher encouraged her to understand what she was singing encouraged her to tap in to a place of understanding to pull out a better result the young girl did not know that on her own so the teacher showed her the way. or enlightened the way or understanding etc.
Wait wait wait... I just checked this girl out on insta and you’re telling me she is 13 years old?? I’m actually speechless. I didn’t even know how to work a dishwasher at that age.
Absolutely incredible!! So much talent in such a young person! That voice and it just gets even more awe inspiring. Mrs. Porter your teaching's are so out of this world crazy amazing and you totally blow me away with what you give these amazing singer's. I really hope to meet you someday and have you teach me. I admire you so much.
Ive lost track of how many times I've seen this girl and I can't get tired of listening to her full, soulful voice! So rare to find such a voice. Miss Cheryl, you are MAGIC 🥰
Yes altos!! I can go a lot lower, and I’m proud of it! Couple fun facts: when I was a senior in high school, we did Hairspray, and I was Motormouth Maybelle, who is the character who sings this song. So I had the huge honor of singing it. Put everything I had into it. And to this day, almost 10 years later, I feel it’s the best I’ve ever sounded. Also, my lowest note as a strong note is a Bb2. 😁 To the young lady singing...SANG mama! Gorgeous, beefy, round, rich, resonant alto voice! Never be ashamed of your lowness! I bet you many women WISH they had the gift to sing as low and full as us contraltos lol. For the ladies who are interested to learn of female artists with a nice, strong, beefy lower range, here are some of my faves. The late Karen Carpenter, Jazmine Sullivan, Madison Ryann, Tori Kelly (mainly soprano but has nice lows), Jessie J (also soprano but her lows are very weighty and gorgeous), and many others I haven’t discovered yet!
Kelli Smith yoo I’m a male, so my voice is naturally deeper (not alwasy but usually) and you seem pretty similar to me as male voices are the octave lower as a general rule, and my lowest note is about B-Bb :)))
i really apprieicate ladies with a low voice alto because i am a Baritone which is tough because it sits between the bass voice and tenor so it's right in the middle and there aren't many Baritones in choirs i think but 1st basses but i am not a true bass voice i am a Baritone love that vocal voice so much so i love ladies who can sing low
Fifteen year old female alto here, and yet my lowest note as a strong note is probably somewhere around an E3. I can only hit a C3 or POSSIBLY a Bb2 on good days. Your low range is INSANE! That ROCKS! I love low notes, haha!!
Sophia Redwood hey, that’s awesome, altos are such a under appreciated voice type, I’m bass and to what u described I’m like the octave lower, keep showing representation for low voices

The young lady has a very rich tone for her age. I'm so grateful that she's getting trained now in her youth to know her voice and instrument. She'll be a phenomenal talent to listen to in the days ahead. Wonderful talent! 🎼🎵🎶🎹🎤💖
I LOVE this!!!! As a 23 white woman with a deep voice myself it’s so heartwarming to see this I got goosebumps just watching both of these beautiful women share their talent!
After you helped her understand the text of the song at 2:27 I started weeping. Eva captured that emotion perfectly! And you gave perfect direction! 👏🏾👏🏿👏🏼👏🏽👏🏻
Of course! When you born the only thing you know is how to breath! You learned a language or two, how to count and read and speak! You can definitely learn how to sing! It just needs practice! Try singing your favourite songs and even if it doesn't sound good keep trying, I'm sure you can do it!
Knowing choir politics, I really hope she gets the due she deserves in the Altos section. Way too many people are the “stars” of choir sections without this kind of amazing vocal performance and training.

Our honours choir had something called "improv circles" where one person would start with a short repeating riff and everyone would find something that fit with it, and nobody would sing their assigned type
I'm an alto 2 and the best feeling is when they give us an SSAA song and we get into the lowww notes like yesss
Our teacher calls us Basses when we do that and it's the best feeling
I talked a lot here.
Find ur place, find ur people ♥️
Lucas Simpson oh that was my next question, If you didn’t like you choir teacher because he won’t let girls sing low parts...
You know someone's on another level when they're talking concepts and not technique
When she said:
"That's nice baby." At the end I blushed.
I'm blown away by how effortlessly she can project her voice. an amazing student and an amazing teacher ❣️
I love how that girl has the hair style of every 90's movie.
Kinda reminds me of Beverly from It
That's me when I wake up
Actually reminds me of I’m not okay with this on Netflix
Jesus is the only way the truth and the life. He loved you enough to die on the cross and rise again on the third day so that you may be forgiven of your sins. Turn from all sin and follow Him. You will be set free and have everlasting life in Heaven. Repent while you still can!

2:58 that giggle!! She’s a passionate inspiring vocal coach. Better still she’s bringing out the best in this young lady and not in a scary way either. A very rare and precious quality.
She's that cool aunt everyone wants
baby when she told her that black ppl sang like that because they went thru things....THATS a true teacher
Yessir
So if you tell people, that things happened that makes you a true teacher, got it.
@@mrproper15 it seems like you don't comprehend sarcasm my dude.
@@Okami_oni no i get sarcasm. You just don't know how to convey it in a coherent form or matter. it's the timing and delivery.
I really want her to make it big. Her voice is incredible already at 14 imagine as an adult...
As a bass, I have only encountered or even heard a few females who could double me only an octave higher... this young lady being one of them.
well than hello, because same
I can't believe she is only 14 omg what a powerful voice this is so impressive 🤯

Wait wait wait... I just checked this girl out on insta and you’re telling me she is 13 years old?? I’m actually speechless. I didn’t even know how to work a dishwasher at that age.
Well u were a bit dumb...

Itz slimetastic - lmao it’s called a hyperbole, wasn’t expecting anyone to take it so literally
2:23 That girl's face represents my reaction to hearing Cheryl sing.
Wooao ❤️
"What are we gonna do if we use all your best riffs in the first 40 seconds" I wish some popular artists would listen to this...
Like Wanya Morris of Boyziimen. I am sure people have told him, but he just refuses to take the advice.
"There's alot of pain, a lot of suffering, but there's also a lot of joy. But there's hope in that 'road', baby."
That got me right in the feels ♥️
Absolutely incredible!! So much talent in such a young person! That voice and it just gets even more awe inspiring. Mrs. Porter your teaching's are so out of this world crazy amazing and you totally blow me away with what you give these amazing singer's. I really hope to meet you someday and have you teach me. I admire you so much.
Ive lost track of how many times I've seen this girl and I can't get tired of listening to her full, soulful voice! So rare to find such a voice. Miss Cheryl, you are MAGIC 🥰
2:20 her face when she heard her sing was priceless and amazing
Who’s the girl?
She sings awesome

To the young lady singing...SANG mama!
Sade!
i really apprieicate ladies with a low voice alto because i am a Baritone which is tough because it sits between the bass voice and tenor so it's right in the middle and there aren't many Baritones in choirs i think but 1st basses but i am not a true bass voice i am a Baritone love that vocal voice so much so i love ladies who can sing low
Damn her voice is so beautiful! It’s a mixing how deep it is yet she can still hit higher notes so beautifully. How talented
Great tip from Cheryl “if you’re going to riff don’t use the same riff over and over again” 👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The girl singing looks like the rich girl from breakfast club.
Molly Ringwald?
MOLLY RINGWALD!!!! You're right 😂😘❤️
@@CherylPorterVocalCoach OMG SHE DOES!!! If I lived near you I would love to have you coach me if I was interested in joining that lol because you are so gentle and soothing with your students
Honestly she looks like every single breakfast club character
THATS WHAT I THOUGHT OMGGGG
Where can I watch her perform this song after all of this training? She takes the advice amazingly and morphs her voice to sound like honey, I want to hear her sing the song the whole way.
I second your request.

Not every woman is a soprano! Deep, rich, full tones can be exquisitely beautiful AND feminine
She has so much soul in her voice and it’s so full and rich. God I wish my low register was that good. Very talented the both of you
The “road” part GAVE ME CHILLS
Reyna Estrada me too 😍
The young lady has a very rich tone for her age. I'm so grateful that she's getting trained now in her youth to know her voice and instrument. She'll be a phenomenal talent to listen to in the days ahead. Wonderful talent! 🎼🎵🎶🎹🎤💖
I've loved singing my entire life but I'm absolutely shit at it.... this coach gives me hope (Also, this girl's voice is incredible)
She pulled out Dr"ah"ma vs Dr"ea"m so fast. She has taught that before for sure. Useful for getting rid of the Dr"a"m vs Dr"ee"m sounds.
She's really pretty and her voice is really pretty. I'm kinda having a heart attack right now 😂😂😂
I KNOW RIGHT

Same I die every time I watch it!
I had my first heart attached at age 5.yeah this little girl pinned a heart on my shirt on valentines day.
This women coaching is a genuine kind human, her smile tells you her heart
I LOVE this!!!! As a 23 white woman with a deep voice myself it’s so heartwarming to see this I got goosebumps just watching both of these beautiful women share their talent!
After you helped her understand the text of the song at 2:27 I started weeping. Eva captured that emotion perfectly! And you gave perfect direction! 👏🏾👏🏿👏🏼👏🏽👏🏻

2:08 ~ 2:44 You guys must see this part! Look how clear and easy the vocal coach explains. And how quickly this student applies it.
I don't see how you could possibly be around this woman and be anything but your best with all the support she's giving.
That second 'road' hits different. I've got /tears/ man. Beautiful!!!
Cheryl, can people who can't sing learn to sing?
Absolutely!
It needs harmonious hearing
Of course! When you born the only thing you know is how to breath! You learned a language or two, how to count and read and speak! You can definitely learn how to sing! It just needs practice! Try singing your favourite songs and even if it doesn't sound good keep trying, I'm sure you can do it!
There's hope for me!
@minito kyo that's right! ^w^
Cheryl’s patience is out of this world. 💜 teach me thy ways oh wise one.
Knowing choir politics, I really hope she gets the due she deserves in the Altos section. Way too many people are the “stars” of choir sections without this kind of amazing vocal performance and training.
Cheryl’s enthusiasm and genuine want for her students to improve is so nice
I want to have a vocal coach who just randomly screams at me NO SPRINKLES.
I really wish we could hear the whole thing beginning to end!
Her voice gives me goosebumps. Amazing singer! And the coach is stunning like always!!!
Girl has a great voice. She's going to be great.
Finally another girl who doesn’t sing in the insane high range
