    I never thought I'd watch a video about 90s Star Trek action figures, but here I am! Did they actually intend for kids to like... play with these figures? Re-enact their favorite scenes from the episodes? This is so adorably nerdy that I'm genuinely puzzled 😅
    Looking forward to more videos!

    You may want to buy some "museum putty" to help hold the figures in place. The putty is meant to affix things without leaving any residue and making it still easy to remove/reposition the thing. Might come in handy for those figures you want to switch out less often, but don't want to have to re-adjust each time you move something next to them.

    Just discovered the actor Paul Winfield, who plays Dathon in Darmok episode, also played Captain Terrell in The Wraith of Khan, as the mind controlled officer along with Chekov. And he also played as the police chief in Terminator.

      Yes! Louis Gosset Jr was terrific in that film. Also in An Officer and a Gentleman. And he was not too shabby in SG1 and also the voice of the Vortigaunt in Half Life 2.

    The phasers on the figures almost look like lightsabers come to think of it. Great video as always Commander!
    And I agree Geordi was a major jerk to Scotty! It honestly seemed a bit out of character for him. You'd think Geordi would kind of idolize Scotty since he was such a legendary Engineer.
    Also "Frosted Frakes" that pun was GREEEEEEAAAAT!

    • @JanelleWaz
      @JanelleWaz  5 месяцев назад

      I really need to do a shot of some of the Trek figures doing a lightsaber fight... maybe even some Trek/Wars lightsaber fights. 😆
      As much as I like Relics, the episode is a little hard to watch just because of Geordi.
      Frosted Frakes. He's more than good... He's GREAT!

    This is so bizarre to me, as a longtime toy collector and modifier. This line is in an odd middle range where the design team cared enough to look up a gong from TOS to include with Spock's dad from another series, but the production team didn't care enough to paint all the accessories, only some, and sticker placement seems almost random. And, if that weren't oddity enough, you also happen to be in what I consider an odd middle range of collectors, as most people who would go to the trouble of making videos to display their figures would also be the sort of people to paint the accessories themselves on the user end, which is what I figure the designers and producers anticipated to some degree.
    I said in the last one I think this line suffers form Lightsaber Envy, and now I think they were like Star Wars in another way, the extent of specificity in the figure selection. Star Wars has plenty of background-only aliens that got figures made of them, fair enough, but they didn't have years of episodes to pull variations from like Trek does. I don't mean these as criticisms btw, merely observations, just as I observed the ultimate oddity in that unpainted blue beam weapon, as I had assumed until I saw it that at least all of the in-use beam tools got painted. If I got these, I probably would have been obsessed with making those removable and insertable, using some sort of tiny pin.

    • @JanelleWaz
      @JanelleWaz  5 месяцев назад

      I'd be afraid to paint them before I screw them up. 😅 The accessories are kinda all over the place. Some are stamped with designs (ie: Beverly's Medical Kit), some have stickers (ie: Picard's Romulan Disguise Kit), and some are just straight up plain.

    • @tilasole3252
      @tilasole3252 5 месяцев назад

      Different departments are probably also making them. The figures look decent enough, but who is painting them? Did they just mold the equipment and said "good enough"? Or some times, for what ever reason, they purposely have it off just a bit.

    8:04 and are we really going to ignore Beverly Crusher's hair, while still in the box? 😳 I demand answers! 😅

    • @JanelleWaz
      @JanelleWaz  5 месяцев назад

      Okay, so the story behind that. I went to a comic/toy convention and one of the guys there had a 9" Seven of Nine figure going for $20. It was a more than I wanted to spend, but after some googling, I realized it was a good deal and decided to get it. The guy then says that he'll also give me the Beverly Crusher figure and Seven for $30. I thought about it for a couple of seconds and was like "Okay!" Both figures were open box, but they have all the accessories. However, why Beverly's hair is like that is still a mystery.

      @@JanelleWaz I can not really read it... But is it the Beverly special edition when she is having relations with her grandmama's ghost boyfriend? Took a look at Wixiban (great site for finding action figure information). That action figure was released in 1994, the same year as Sub Rosa (which premiered in January). It's not specifically Season 7 Beverly, but who knows?
      It also says that it comes in a tidy hair or wild hair, so I guess I got the wild hair variety. 😆

    A shame some of the accessories are all molded or painted one colour. Even a grey tricorder and a black strap, would look better than all blue or all orange.

    • @JanelleWaz
      @JanelleWaz  5 месяцев назад

      I will say that Chekov's communicator and phaser are some of the better looking accessories just for having different colors. The rest are a little odd when you realize that Data's probably walking around with a bight orange phaser. 😆

    Why was Wesly slapped in that episode?

    • @JanelleWaz
      @JanelleWaz  5 месяцев назад +1

      Basically, Sarek had the equivalent of Vulcan Alzheimer's disease which caused his strong emotions that he'd been repressing to be projected onto the crew. Beverly was annoyed with Wesley for not showing up to the concert for Sarek, he said something somewhat smart back to her, and then she slapped him.
