Replace the drive shaft with a screw and instead of using shaft collars use a nylock on the end. I always use a washer so the nylock doesn't grind against the c-channel and create friction. Also I'd still use bearing flats. Use the square inserts with a circle hole on your gears/wheels and there should be little to no friction on the entire assembly.
@@haydenford3794 Usually I use 2.5 inch screws (the longest legal) because I have to accommodate space for both a wheel and gears. But then again I'm working on building more compact mechanisms this season.
