great work Erik, this was amazing to watch, thanks for sharing. In the end, what was your total weight setting out? I'd be keen to see another load out review talking about what you took with you.
Thanks Dave, glad you enjoyed it. I didn't have time to film a gear load out video this time around, but I did list some of my main gear in the video description. My starting weight was 19.1 kgs. This doesn't include 2L water or 350ml of gin. 4.5 kgs of that weight was 6 days worth of food and another 4.1kgs for camera gear.
Hey mate, you might know of it already but 3B Cream is excellent for preventing chafing. The water won’t wash it off either on your crossings. I generally put it on if I’m doing a longer hike or even going for a run. It’s an absolute game changer. People recommend other creams and even Vaso but I promise you 3B is the best you will find. Vaso is perfect for the healing process but not as nice to have on as a preventative. Enjoying the video so far!
An awesome adventure Erik n Alex. Such a wearysome trail that you did justice to. The waterways looked great but the pikes of debris show how badly the fires then the floods picking it up have changed the landscape. Alex has some dry wit that threw in for entertainment .. like his Superman look .. lol. ATVB guys want some more of these they are epic. Thanks for sharing our beautiful outdoors. Bushyboy Oz.
Another epic multi-day hike Boys! That was some amazing scenery you hiked through and can't believe just how much debris had collected along the stumps, rocks, embankments, etc. and seeing the volume of river rocks and boulders was insane!! Bugger about the chafing Erik... I'm sure deep down Alex felt bad for you! 🤣😂 Thanks for taking us along Mate.
Haha, yeah I think deep down Alex felt some sympathy. It's an impressive system alright, it's amazing how much it is constantly changing. Thanks for watching, Cheers Erik
Wow, that's what I call an adventure! Nice camping after an adventurous and challenging "trail" is the best combination ;) I really had a good time following you guys out there! Great video Erik
Absolutely enjoyed this, keep up the good work Eric, I look forward to when your video drops. Keep them coming. Definitely underrated channel, should have at least 50k subs. That'll come soon.
Ha thanks. The first few walks were really hard, but you can find a rythym after a while. After five days though, I managed to wear down the soles on my brand new shoes by over half.
Another phenomenal video Erik: well worth the wait! Outstanding camerawork: thanks for carrying that crazy pack weight so we could come along. As always: looking forward to next time!
Have to say Erik....some of your greatest camera work to date!...spectacular scenery and a big thanks to yourself and Alex for taking the huge effort in allowing us to come along. Appreciate it greatly mate. Fantastic news re: upcoming wedding. Hope Alison males an honest man out of you..😉 All the best my friend 🦘🇦🇺
Thanks very much Jeff, appreciate that, I had hoped to film more, but it was just too hard to make the distance and film. We had a great wedding a few weeks ago thank you, even had a little snow. Cheers mate.
Something-or-other-es, love that 😄. What an enjoyable trip, thank you for the realistic footage of our creeks and bush like we're all there and the ribbing between you and your mate 😁
G'day Erik, Alex, (or should I say superman, with the blue shirt and red jocks on the outside). Gorg-e-ous alright !!!!!!!!!!!!! ........the landscape, not the attire ; ) That's way more than I've ever taken on and with the extra hindrance of filming, and indeed rubbing in the wrong places, a mighty fine effort, hats off !!!!!. Congratulations and best o' luck with the wedding. Cheers Duke.
Solid effort mate. Lugging all that camera gear around can’t be easy. Another awesome video. It’s crazy to see how much sections of the gorge have changed after the fires and floods. Thanks for bringing us along on the journey
Nice one mate, always pleasant to see footage of that area. A huge effort on all that filming! There really isn't an easy way out of there is there, definitely have to work for it.
Haha, WTF is with Alex's superman outfit on the 3rd night??? 🥴 Ps. Congrats to you and Alison... the photos of the big day were amazing, looked like you had a brilliant day, and you've got a gorgeous girl there! 💙
Hey mate - yes I have run into people before on these sort of trips, but it's only ever happened this place. I typically plan my trips in fairly remote / unknown areas - so normally I don't see people at all.
Yeah a lot of boots don't grip well on wet rocks, so the rubber compound and lug pattern are really important, especially for a walk like this. I was wearing Adidas Terrex Swift R2 boots - they use a sole from the company Continental. Alex wore Scarpa Kailash Trek boots with Vibram soles. Both offer good grip in these sort of conditions. A trek like this will wear boots quickly though. Mine were brand new and I think I've taken at least half the tred off on this trip.

Movie length episode - nice. Appreciate the effort to film and especially the time to edit.
Such a pristine waterway. What a glorious place to camp.
It sure is mate!

@@ERIKOFFTRACK Yeah I wasn’t aware of 3B until I enlisted into the infantry. It could have been a very short career otherwise 😂
Glad to see a new post
Magic country indeed! What an awesome adventure. Great to see you posting a new video for us to all enjoy. Safe travels mate!
Thanks mate!

A great adventure, thank you. You both must have gotten over it all walking so far on those damn rocks !
Ha thanks. The first few walks were really hard, but you can find a rythym after a while. After five days though, I managed to wear down the soles on my brand new shoes by over half.

Did it cross your mind how much gold you walked over ?
Yeah it did actually, but from what I can figure out, the old timers never found any in this system.
Love the name Ric. Lol.
There’s gold in them thare hills.
Great hike Eric.
Nice one boys 👍

Awesome as always Eric!! It’s amazing what fire and flood can do.
What catchment are you in?
Is it the Macleay ?
great video erik :)
Next year Erik will hike in a full body lycra suit to avoid chafing.
I am borrowing yours yeah?
@@ERIKOFFTRACK i only have arseless leather chaps, but you can borrow if need be?
