The Case of Drew Peterson

- Drew Peterson is quite the character. Rising up the rank of the Bollingbrook Police Department, he was married 4 times. Two of his wives had mysterious ends. And so, with the media focussing on him, Drew began to lap it up and promote himself.

Drew's department should be under investigation for allowing him to get away with so much abuse of power.
I'm all for giving it a shot but how do we prevent it from being intimidated and/or infiltrated/corrupted?
@Sea Dog FBI or state police
Yeah that was super messed up that they let Drew sit in on Stacy's questioning. If nothing else they should be reprimanded/punished for that. Obstruction of justice.
Cops investigate cops and find cops are great
Anytime someone presents something as evidence that is obviously not evidence it's a bad sign. Like him basically saying people should come to his defense and/or believe him... because he does nice things for people sometimes.

Princess Di: Dies in car accident. Very suspicious circumstances.
Police investigators. Just an accident. That's all.
@DR Evil In Diana's case it wasn't the brakes but something else.
And this is why LADIES, anytime your involved with a cop, in this type of situation, you go right to the prosecutor’s office. Skip right by the local police. They cover their own blue line. RIP to all the victims 💔💔💔
Kathleen went straight to the State Attorney, and nothing happened. Better to just not get involved with cops- they are either bad themselves, or enabling the bad ones.

Not to mention there have been plenty of cases where it’s pretty obvious an officer or friend/ family member of an officer has murdered someone (usually their spouse) and it’s then covered up by the police force.
While this is not to do with the institutionalised racism that is rampant in the police, it does show you that they consider themselves ‘above the law’, are quick to resort to unnecessary violence and cover up for each other to a criminal degree.
Check out the statistics for domestic violence, she’s not wrong.
The fact that Kathleen’s emergency order and the state attorney did absolutely nothing and ignored her order of protection is disgusting and they’re partially responsible for her death as well!

He was caught taking bribes and selling drugs. So he got a demotion. Why wasn't he fired or charged? Do members of law enforcement really see no problem with this?
Definitely a case of "The Old Boy's Club". It's amazing what he got away with. Thank God the State police FINALLY did that last investigation, otherwise this could have gone on forever. The second wife gets into an accident because brakes were cut. The third wife drowns in an empty bathtub. Then he marries a teenager 30 years younger. Then she disappears...Then he gets his nephew tangled in his web...Yikes!! A serial killer!!

How ironic. He says that everyone against him, when most actually believed in him or stood up for him during that time
Are we going to ignore the fact that while being an undercover cop he took bribes and sold drugs, and as a consequence they " demoted " him by giving him a squad car and making him a patrol officer. Not to mention was given the rank of "SARGEANT" .
Yeah, that one sticks out big time. We live in a small town about the same size as Bolingbrook and a local undercover detective for narcotics was caught taking numbers from drug dealers of those they dealed to, in exchange for the detectives silence who then turned around and sold the drugs for a profit. He and a business partner (also a cop) were caught and both sentenced to prison. The detective killed himself, a month, if that into his sentence. But Drew was merely "demoted"? He should have been fired and sentenced too.
He should have been both fired & prosecuted. No justice in that police dept.
That was mentioned. And it's 'sergeant'.
That's not surprising at all.
true, he was a string of red flags
In college I go friend of mine dated a sheriff. He was physically and verbally abusive and told her if she called police no one would show up and he was right. The second time she called he beat the hell out of her. The only way she was able to get away was to move while he was out of town. She had to move to her parents house and then to two different states. I really thought he was going to kill her. She cut ties with anyone from the town we lived in. I heard from her 6 years after she moved and it was because he moved to another state. It was really sad that she had absolutely no protection
Many of us victims have to see our ex friends hang with abusers everytime or sometimes even our family. Nobody believes us and everyone leaves us hanging. But the moment our abuser takes our lives everyone is crying at our funeral. It's a sad reality to be a survivor.

“Be 100% honest with me....did you kill your wife?” Wow, how did he not crack and confess to that hard as nails journalism?

How did he not fold under that intense pressure?
He didn’t give anything away because he has zero feelings. That question in his mind was probably equivalent in his to something as simple as “Did you eat lunch today?”
That kind of honesty requires 1000% truthfulness: 100% honesty is enough only for a traffic ticket.

What a repugnant human. What the hell did any of these women see in him?? I'm perplexed about that.

It's a cocktail of various things.
Psychopaths are well known to be charming;
They say whatever you want to hear, try to figure out what you need and "help you" with that, etc.
They practice Love Bombing at the beginning. Become Mr. Charming and dial it up to 11.
It can be very flattering to someone who doesn't know what is going on. All that attention.
They do a lot of reconnaissance and the scary part is that it's a natural way for them to handle their prey.
Always on the prowl. Tirelessly. Because they don't have a conscience. Empty inside.
This means they have a lot of time and energy on their hands, that they use to ruin other people's lives. For fun.
Always sussing someone out, always sticking their nose in others people's business, always scheming.
They like easy prey. Young, elderly, naive, needy, helpless, low self-esteem kind of people.
When the psychopath presents himself as their "savior", "protector" and the guy who "gets them" they jump in with both feet. Over time that "savior" turns into a tyrant. The sweet talking turns into threats. Violence.
Then they mix it up, causing cognitive dissonance: Flowers, beatings, flowers, beatings, flowers, beatings.
The prey becomes exhausted. Clinging to the memory of the long lost savior - that never existed.
The home becomes a prison. Take away their money, push away friends and family. No support. No help.
A lot of abusers are very busy having children asap with their prey. It's another lock to keep them in place.
If and when the prey tries to get away... there will be hell to pay.
This includes involving all of the people the psychopath has "recruited" over the years.
All the other people that have been "saved" and "helped" - also known as Flying Monkeys.
They are there to reinforce the brainwash and the prison walls.
That the prey is a selfish asshole for leaving such a great guy.
Even help get rid of the bodies, because flying monkeys are brainwashed and terrorized as well.
None of this happens over night.
@@MsLenepigen Yep. Pretty much sums the whole awful situation up. Also, had never heard of the "Flying Monkey" concept - makes me kinda sad, cause my abusive ex actually turned my father into one, briefly (as, I am sorry to say, my own dad did with my MOTHER"S father, also briefly, after Dad left her). My granddad came round pretty quickly - my dad only registered he'd better stop talking to my p.o.s. ex after I cut the old man off for a few months (that had never happened before). I still don't think the silly old fart knows just how damaging his behaviour was...*sighs*

I remember this story. He literally was on the news every day. It’s interesting to hear the back story on him and how crazy he really is.
"Surrounded by killers; couldn't even organize a murder"! 🤣😂
My ex did stuff like this. He was my first boyfriend and I was 18. He would pop into my work ( a retail store) and watch me work& he would get upset if ANY male coworkers spoke to or even looked at me. If he wasn’t there, he would ask me to send him pictures of the time clock to prove I was there. He tracked me from Facebook and knew how long it took me to get from work to his house. If I was even a few minutes late ( to get gas or coffee) he would accuse me of cheating on him. Eventually he wouldn’t let me wear makeup, certain underwear, even yoga pants weren’t allowed. After that and after he ruined my reputation and refused to let me talk to my friends and family is when he started beating me. I took pictures of the abuse when he went outside to smoke ( only time I was left alone with my phone) and I sent them to the only friend I had left ( she was a teenager at the time too, I was so brainwashed by him that I begged her to not tell the police) She saved them to her phone and this went on for months. She came to pick me up for class and she saw him push me down the stairs and throw a mirror at me. Once we left for “class” is when she drove me to the cops herself. Without her, I’d either still be with him, or I’d be dead. ( he always threatened to slit my throat and bury me under the basement. That no one would care) i feel very grateful to to get out alive. This is not normal behavior! I hope anyone reading this that is in a similar situation takes this as a sign to leave. Things will never get better. They will NEVER change. The violence will only get worse. Please please please leave. 💕
I'm really glad you got out of that situation. People don't understand how stuck somebody can feel in an abusive relationship. I witnessed my step father completely destroy my mother mentally and physically for years and years when I was a kid. She had no where to go so she dealt with it and fought back all she could. It seriously fucked her mind up. You have a great friend on your side, glad you are safe now.
Thank whoever-is-up-there for your friend. But I’ve also heard stories of girls that left and got heart because it made them snap. I is such a difficult and dangerous situation. Be safe and above all else very smart.
Heart= hurt😳 what was your friend’s name? Have a nice day
@Erin Tomasello, I hate that this was the case for you and so many others. I’ve heard variations of your story a dozens of times. People underestimate just how manipulative a significant other is, men or women, but when it’s paired with someone causing physical harm, it’s even harder to handle, especially if not as lucky as you having such a good friend in your corner reminding you not to take it. I’ve heard the craziest ways abusers wiggle out of trouble, only reinforcing their untouchable mindset. It’s sickening. So happy you’re safe because you very well *would* have been killed eventually. If you don’t get out, that’s exactly how the story ends unfortunately. I’ve been lucky to make it a point, after watching a friend brutalized, that NO matter how much I may love a man, the first time he lays a finger on me, it’s over. Happened in college, my boyfriend threw me into the lamp/wall, and also tried controlling my birthday by not “allowing” me to invite my friends. Nope, was not giving him further chances to do more of that, bye bye! It’s amazing to watch the reactions of these cowards if you stand up to them with back up. Threw his abusive controlling ass out with my two best friends standing behind me the very same day! Suddenly not such a tough guy. I hope you never tolerate the same again, because YOU deserve better and are worth so much more. I don’t need to know you at all to know this. XOXO

The city of Naperville and Aurora have been doing great in terms of improving the quality of their policing (I think because they are starting to increase diversity in the force), however the further you get out into the farmland, things get a little more difficult. It absolutely INFURIATES me!!!!! I hope domestic violence cases (especially ones involving military/police spouses) are taken more seriously. Maybe there should be some law put into place where those types of investigations are sent to a separate jurisdiction so it's more objective.
@Suspicious Ned who hurt you?
"Surrounded by killers, he couldn't even organize a murder!" Mike, you are so dang funny! Thank you for another great video. May all the many victims' families and friends be somehow finding peace.
I hope his relative can learn to forgive himself. My heart breaks that he tried to kill himself after that horrific realization of what he helped do. 💔
All I could think about is how hurt and damaged all his children are. Poor kids didn't have a chance in hell ...
I'm thinking the same thing... It's heartbreaking
His son is a bolingbrook cop. He publicly turned on him.
Look it up
@@tunchthumb5227 wow that would be so shitty to have to do to your own father.
@Dropsy I guess the neurally challenged, psychopathic serial killers, those with certain personality disorders - especially those with anti social element - children under the age of four who have yet to form the notion in their mind that other people as well as themselves exist and have feelings and needs too, also petulant teenagers (however it's likely that they actually do really care and are just bluffing because at that age, what with all the hormones, they get embarrassed showing positive emotion), and lastly but by no means leastly, people going by the screen name dropsy. All of these groups of people can be said to not care at all or, as the cool kids say "don't give a shit bruv" about children who experience their father brutalising their mother and talking about murdering her and his other wives.
Rebecca Schmidt not really, the guy is a POS
I swear Mike's videos are waaay better than any dumb cheesy Netflix documentary
Or on network TV
Facts
I love how these videos get straight to the facts of the story also, not making it over dramatized
Great mix of professional and humor.
captain thunderpants has spoken.
The police stations where this man worked should really be forced to reopen every case this man worked on, because no way did his sociopathic ways extend to his "work"
Anyone else have a laughing fit every time mike “fake gags”? Why is this so funny?? 😹
I legit looked for this comment 😭
“…an affair with 17 year old Stacy. Drew was 47” Mike 🤢🤢🤢🤮 🤣🤣
That April fool's joke was literally the stuff of a psychopath's playground.
Lmao, thats some of the darkest humor I've ever heard
That was jaw dropping
Born and raised in Bolingbrook myself, most of this story i remember but dont recall the radio april fools thing... I was even a daily Mancow listener at the time.
@@jimb3293 mancow? I thought he was off the air? That must have been a long time ago.
@@MrTim223 Thats where the april fools radio call was.... Clearly Mancow's voice and if that was actually Drew calling in, he does say Mancow.
After everything that Department did to shield Drew, the LEAST they could do would be to continue the search for Stacey’s remains
They’re shameless & DGAF.
Imagine if Stacey really did run away from him so she could stay alive and is now too scared to go back home in case that pos manages to get out of prison.
That's like asking the bloods to look for one of their murder victims
@@HassanZargari I highly doubt she’s alive and hiding

It's disturbing that his house was not ripped up by a forensic team after his brother made the admission. It actually pisses me off -
How did he get any woman???????...Hes so GROSS!
I swear!!!!!!
By force and power
Well, he's a middle class man with authority, power and uniform, a pilot's license and a big charming mouth. He fooled both men and women. Classic psychopath.
By preying on women who were in compromised positions. Underage, or desperately seeking to fill painful voids, and emotional holes from youth. I'm sure the other women had vulnerabilities too. This guy's version of "falling in love" is hunting women who he thought were easy prey. Absolutely disgusting.
I know right 🤮😂
That law should have been named "Stacy's Law". He should not be connected to a positive, groundbreaking decision and does not deserve anymore attention.
Totally agree. That’s what we do in the UK. This is just bizarre, it just gives him even more notoriety.
good point
You’re totally right. I was shocked when I heard that..
RIGHT! The sick f is probably relishing every time it is mentioned.
It’s guaranteed that he gets a raging hard-on every time this law is mentioned.
I'd say this man ticks every box making him up there with the most extreme narcissistic cult leaders. He's a good example of aggressive narcissism to the point that he's just a sociopath that loves attention so much so even when he's the number one suspect he just can't resist all the media appearances

Wondering if that Adventures With Purpose would be able to help Stacy's sister look for her where she thinks she is located
If we don't let judges and jury members on cases because of bias then why the hell do we let cops with biases deal with calls..
I'm from Chicago and the Stacy Peterson case happened while I was in high school. That was the first time I learned that a cop could kill you and the others would help them cover it up.
All his corrupt cop buddies should be held accountable.
Same but I moved to Texas 1 and a half year ago
As a Chicagoan and a police dispatcher, this case is just shockingly vile to me. I know many officers, and pieces of shit like this guy and others who worked with him, give all cops a bad name.

It made me wonder to what extent a coroner/M.E can sway their report to match a particular narrative 🤔. Or that coroner was just rubbish at their job.
Guess that police department didn’t really understand the notion of “conflict of interest”….
Thanks for taking time to put together great content and providing top notch commentary while not reminding us constantly to like and subscribe. We should all strive to be more like Mike.
The fact he was able to keep his job the entire time is so MADDENING! I’ve seen coworkers (I’m a cop) fired for adulterous behavior (integrity issues etc.). But he had that PLUS repeated accusations of abuse from multiple women! Ugh! They failed these women
40% of all police are domestic abusers, nearly twice the national average. If cops were actually being held accountable for their crimes that number would be much lower. The blue wall of corruption has a few cracks from the mass riots about police but it's still holding strong.
Who's they?
Own it. "We" or "my profession".
Cops failed these people.
I'm sure you're a "good apple" too bad You're in a spoiled bunch.
my regards to your family
It's all planned out. Your department and your precious higher ups don't care about the citizens as you can see. It's all about making regular people into criminals, filling up the prison system with walking dollar signs, wholesale unchecked murder and the continuation of the slave trade established 6000 or more years ago... if you really care about freedom and liberty, as most cops love to hide behind the flag, you'd open your eyes and see what your government is doing to people and do a complete 180°
@@damenwhelan3236 she was failed by every law enforcement officer who she contacted and did nothing. I do not own the actions of others. The "joking" that this P.O.S. was doing with the media was aggressive posturing. He also invaded personal space as an attempt at domination. One can sense how quickly this "joking" could turn to murderous rage.
Exactly!!!
yup, typical cop-bully mentality
He has mastered the art of body language as well. Naturally, he’s cop. That in and of itself is disturbing as shit.
I know it’s fictional but, look at The Joker as an example
@@louised6790 I did notice the positive head movement during a negative statement tho. "Did you kill ur wife" he says no, but is nodding yes. He slipped up in that interview.
If other cops were writing parking tickets to her as well (and not leaving them there for her), then they were definitely complicit. But from hearing all the things he was capable of, he probably forged other officers' names without their knowledge of it.
All of it should have been under investigation from that point on.
At the end: "Surrounded by killers and couldn't even organize a murder" ... Good one, lol.
I met Drew Peterson once, in the early 90’s. It was work related; he came to my place of business for a meeting. He was VERY arrogant and did not respect the “personal space” rule. Luckily, the meeting didn’t last long. He certainly thought he was God’s gift to women. 😡

This sorry excuse of a human is truly diabolical.
As if his sentence wasn't long enough...he hires a hitman to kill the officials. I wish they would have protected these wives of DP as they do the officials. You would think that if nothing else, he would have realized that this would have made HIM LOOK bad. Even if he didn't give a shit about his wives. (which he didn't) From what I hear about them, sociopaths have an incredible amount of nerve. Obviously they have no heart. That justs goes without saying.
Trump
He is a sociopath and those women keep getting with him. What do they see in him ,money, love ,or just plain stupid?
@@2525bestyThis is just my opinion. It's hard to say what attracted these women to him. I think especially with the last marriage, she was way way to young for him. In this case, he was able to control her and she was so naive because of her young age. I'm not saying that this would be true in every case but I would be extremely concerned if my 19 yr old daughter was marrying a man who was almost 50.
Although not good looking in the conventional sense, he could be charming in order to get what he wanted. His position as a cop may have been to his advantage coming off as secure, reliable and honest even though he was really corrupt and should have been fired years before.
He was really good at hiding his bad side. They would fall for him, get pregnant and they were trapped in a marriage that shouldn't have happened in the first place
