I really appreciate this video. I just ordered a Hobonichi weeks and it hasn't come in the mail yet. It's a bit overwhelming at all the things one might need switching from an Erin Condren system which I really loved but felt it was bigger size than i needed. I been binge watching videos about them and everyone has such nice leather covers. I really would like one, but as you've mentioned they are quite pricey and waiting lists for most. I'm looking forward to getting mine and seeing how things work! Thanks again for the advice. You've got a very nice set up.
I love my weeks. It is my main planner. I use a hobo cousin a5 for my memory keeper. I love stickers and washi. Not to much though. I color code appts. For my family. I use tombows, and mildliners. Some weeks are more colorful than others. I use stickers to grab my attention to a certain appt/task/etc... example :boy sticker/ blue highlighter is is my son for a doc appt. Purple is my husband Pink/teal are my colors. I use washi to devide sections.
That fabric is so grungy on my weeks from this year! I ordered the sneaker mega and a plastic cover. But I did also still get a regular weeks with the cat tie fabric to ruin.
I have the same correction tapes…four in a pack…I love it…I am always have a weeks and ai love covering anything I don’t like…I cut down the pink Herbin blotter paper…very nice to see my 58 year old ideas and means of planning are not so far off the mark as what it feels like sometimes! Glad to have found you
Great video! One of my must haves is a stencil that doubles as a ruler for making straight lines. I also love the cover on cover with pen loop. It’s great!
Another option for the cover is to buy either one of the artist collab ones or the glossy covers and then you don't even need a cover. I decided I like the feel of the textured hardcover so I just have my Weeks "naked" and I put it in my Ane Drawer Pouch if I leave the house. Cut off the bookmarks and use some page flags and book darts I had from years ago. If you use a CoC, I also like the page keeper to put at the back of the CoC and then use the elastic to keep the book closed. When I set up a Weeks for my mom, I got her the CoC (which she will reuse next year), page keeper, green stencil, and a pencil board. I felt this was the basic set up and that anything extra is just a bonus.
Very useful reminders of the basics - all you need is a pen and a simple diary! And sometimes it's refreshing to stop all the hoo-hah and strip it all back to that for a while. Looking forward to the deluge of up-coming videos from you Sam! 😁🇬🇧
Loved the video! Love that you are back in your weeks planner❤️ Ive tried the disc planners, and the setting up my own format in the Stalogy, but for planning, the weeks has it all for me. I do journal in my b6 stalogy, a page a day and find sometimes its tedious that I find myself trying to “fill” up the page. So, this year, I ordered a new weeks, and also ordered the hobonichi a6 planner and am going to try that for my journaling. I did also order a Mega weeks, so we will see how that works out as far as having those extra pages to use. Thank you for doing this video! There ARE alot of new people trying out the whole planner thing, and I still am curious about the rings, I love watching flip throughs and the set up videos, but just dont think I could get into them for everyday use.
I am not sure if you need a special blotting paper. I use an ordinary sheet of paper from another notebook in my journal and it works great. Just something to catch the ink is enough.
For most pens, a regular piece of paper works just fine. The blotting paper is really useful for really inky or wet pens / highlighters because they tend to pool on the tomoe river paper…
I love your bookmark and the matching sticker in the front of your planner. Where are they from? Excellent idea about testing Tombows in the planner and adding the number. Just went to Michaels today and bought one I already had!
I definitely need the cover on cover because dirt is yucky 🤣, I also definitely need stickers! I know a lot of people don’t use stickers but I love how they make the page look. I don’t go overboard, just one here & there and I use them on the monthly overview to mark holidays and events. I still haven’t found a pen I like, I’m contemplating a pigma micron but idk. DEFINITELY need those Midori tabs, a pencil board & blotting paper. For me I also need my cover (waiting on a CS Hayez, yay, it’s almost in Australia) Also if any Aussies are reading this, you can get the Tombow markers from Officeworks and the Cover on Cover from Milligram
I used to use stickers but found it more economic to invest in stamps. One ink pad lasts way longer then any pack of dot stickers so it's more functional. But I do use some stickers for decorating the monthly pages.
Just started with the weeks - will start in November. Loved the video. What stencil did u try out in the back near your pen test pages? The one with the weather icons? Thanks so much. I think I would add a pencil board to the list💜
I watched last night and of course Loved It! But it wouldn't let me comment for some reason! As you know I have found my Planner piece with the Weeks and B6 Stalogy, however I came across someone who has taken her weeks out of it's hardcover, punched personal size holes into the yummy paper and put it into a ring bound Gillio! So Yup I ordered another weeks, but this time I ordered the mega no frills version since I'm taking the cover off anyway. Fingers crossed hopefully it will work for my EDC! Yes I know it's about 1/4 of an inch bigger but I always cover up the bottom anyway! Oh and the must have item for my Weeks is a stencil I got from Etsy :)
The first year I used a Hobonichi Weeks I had a pink one and did not have the clear cover. Regret! It is dirty and yucky around the corners. I’ve had a clear cover for my Weeks every year since!
What brand correction tape is that off white and where to purchase it. I started looking on jet pens and I don’t think I saw that one. It looks bigger. Thanks. Oh I see it on Amazon. Can you write over it. Someone said they couldn’t write over it.

That’s a great use for washi!

I agree with your must haves. The only thing I personally would add is some kind of straight edge, I usually use the Hobo stencil.
That will be in my next video! 😉
Loved the video! I had no idea they made cream colored correction tape and that white would have driven me bananas! Thank you for all the tips!
Absolutely! There are a few kinds I’ve found. Tokyo Pen Shop has some too now, and I love that shop!
Great video! The Hobonichi Weeks is my favorite! ❤
This was a lovely video for anyone to enjoy and get some ideas.
Thank you!

Stencils are a great accessory. They are on my next list!
This is a really good video. I have an EC planner, but I needed a reason to get a Hobonichi. I think you sold me.

Those are really all you need! I’d love to find a glossy cover, but have so far not found one I love. 😕 I always wanted to try a drawer pouch!

Yes! Sometimes we just need a planner, a pen, and mental space. I’m glad you are looking forward to the videos! 🥰
The Velcro idea is wonderful!!! Thank you for the suggestions and now I don’t have a crave for the expensive leather cover anymore!!
I hope it works well for you!

I love watching ALL sorts of planner videos! I think if you stress out from the B6 size, the A6 should work well for you!
I appreciate your comments, I like reading what other people are thinking. 🌷
Very helpful!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for watching!

Probably not, but since I liked the one from Nanami so much, I decided to bring it to my Weeks. 🤓

I ordered my first hobonichi (Juicy Grapes) from Amazon Japan. Thanks for the tip on using a different email address.
#Purple lover💜
I hope you love it!
Loved your video! Really enjoying this series!
Thank you!
I love your bookmark and the matching sticker in the front of your planner. Where are they from? Excellent idea about testing Tombows in the planner and adding the number. Just went to Michaels today and bought one I already had!
It happens to the best of us. 😅 The sticker and bookmark are from Paper Minty Studio on Etsy!

Yay for Hayez!! I have those on my list too, but they are coming in another video. 😉
@@samplans yay!!

I just love your videos!
🥰
Thank you for the video, Sam! Can you tell me where you got your weather stencil? It is so cute and such a perfect size.
Journalthisnow they have one specifically for the Weeks!
Just started with the weeks - will start in November. Loved the video. What stencil did u try out in the back near your pen test pages? The one with the weather icons? Thanks so much. I think I would add a pencil board to the list💜
I have another video with other extras on the way. 😅 The stencil is from journalthisnow.

Wow! That’s gutsy!! Let me know how the deconstruction works for you, and if you like the pairing.
@@samplans You'll be the 1st to know! :)
I'm new to Hobonichi - is that little flap intended to be used with velcro? If not and that's a hack - it's genius!
It isn’t intended to be used that way, but some other genius planner came up with the hack!
Great video. First time here. I've been using Hobonichi for five years. Really love it. Can I ask where you got your leather cover? thanks
Hi there! This is a Gillio Appunto Slim in Rust!
I still love all your videos! Keep up the good work! Too bad the affiliate links do not work for me here in the EU
Thanks so much for the support! 🥰
Great must have video. Where can I order the blotting paper used in this video?
You can find it pretty much anywhere online as far as places that sell pens, even Amazon. Mine is from Nanami, and I cut it down to size.
Could I ask the numbers for your vintage colors in the Tombow markers? Thank you!
The colors you see most in my planner are 992, 947 and 026.
I NEED that Moterm! What color is that one?
That’s a Gillio in the color Rust. 😅
@@samplans BAHAHAHA I'm an idiot.
The first year I used a Hobonichi Weeks I had a pink one and did not have the clear cover. Regret! It is dirty and yucky around the corners. I’ve had a clear cover for my Weeks every year since!
Yeah, that would be bothersome to me too!
What is the blotting paper with notebooks - something like tsunami but that wasn’t it - ?
Nanami Cafe Note - I used to use their notebooks so I ordered the blotting paper.
What brand correction tape is that off white and where to purchase it. I started looking on jet pens and I don’t think I saw that one. It looks bigger. Thanks. Oh I see it on Amazon. Can you write over it. Someone said they couldn’t write over it.
If you are careful with it, yes you can. It doesn’t work great with the felt tip pens though.
😘💗
What pen are you using in this video Sam
It’s a UBrands felt pen from Target.
I don’t like putting it in a cover as it doesn’t fit in my purse. That I can definitely do without. It’s just too bulky.
