    Dumb question but this doesn’t have to be plugged when sailing? It is an active drain while on the water??

    No, it doesn't need to be plugged when sailing. When unplugged a small amount of water sloshes in and out of the boat.

    Nice job. The only thing I would have done differently would be to put a thin layer of epoxy on the exposed balsa and let it cure before assembly. Just for extra insurance against water getting into the core.
