What is the ratio cabbage to salt. I would only want to make half cabbage,couple carrots how do you work out how much salt to use. Advise. Please.

It depends on how salty you like it and what salt you use. I'd say 1-2 tea spoons will be enough for half a cabbage. 1 for a smaller head and 2 for a larger half head.
