That's not real feminism. I can't be convinced she and her team didn't know about this. It was a big news story and it took place as a direct result of her tweet defending herself. She has a long history of this type of self-serving and politically tone-deaf behavior, including when her team threatened a blogger with legal action (serving a cease-and-desist) for arguing that Taylor should denounce the white supremacist fans who called her their Aryan Goddess and insisted that she shared their beliefs. She literally could have sent that cease-and-desist to the Alt-Right groups making those claims in the first place. It’s disturbing that the person she chose to threaten w legal action was the one saying she should denounce the LITERAL HATE GROUP rather than the people OF that hate group claiming she shared their beliefs.

She tried to silence the person who said she should denounce white supremacy, rather than the white supremacists who claimed she shared their beliefs. That makes no sense to me. Or rather it makes sense only in the context of her not caring about the victims of white supremacy. This was also an infringement of first amendment rights. Silencing either wasn’t going to work, and the ACLU admonished her team. Her team of lawyers should have known better but they seem to have no qualms about being bullies. Talking about her own experience is fine, and so was standing up for herself. But defending herself in the name of “feminism” only to walk away when attacks turned racist on the people or person she brought attention to is not fine. She’s exploiting a movement designed to liberate and that is immoral. I used to love her. So much so that in 2011 at the age of 19 I went to her Speak Now tour and cried tears of happiness when she came on stage. But truthfully I cringe when I hear her speak on double standards in the industry given how she has behaved in a way that takes no issue with other double standards. Ariana took the additional step of sending law enforcement to check up on Pete Davidson after her rabid fans went after him following their split. At least she would have still done her part and I promise you that many people will listen to anything their lord and savior Taylor Swift has to say. I realize she has since denounced him, but it concerned me that it took until halfway through his term for her to do so.
