Cats and dogs is quite common in Turkey. Especially cats is so close to our culture . Since it is not nasty in our religion to pet in home or even sharing our meals . And also Turkey's climate also allow to live them peacefully in streets. You can find lots of cats and dogs in Turkish streets. Every city has own center to vaccine them in certain period. So that empede being sick from them.

By arabic linguistics, it must be transliterated into latin as In(if) Sha(wills) Allah(God). Inshallah in written form basically means something along the lines of "a created God", which is not at all what the expression is supposed to mean. Always write "In Sha Allah" if you want to say "God willing", which is the proper Islamic expression. Also, in some alphabets, it's natural to write "In Sya" instead of "In Sha". So the person you are commenting at is not wrong.

I live in istanbul and my high school's yard is full of animals and there's this black and white cat who always walks in into the classroom every morning while we're having lessons, it's honestly become like a routine for the cat. She always wants to sit on someone's lap. One time she slept on one of my classmate's lap for like an hour and she didn't want to leave

It's transformation to a mosque was simply because it was a new dynasty of a new "Caesar"- Keiser i Rūm.

Hagia Sophia means a lot to Orthodox and Christians and even humanity in general. Many other buildings in the old Constantinople are the same. Let’s take care of our collective history instead of fighting incessantly
Nooo this is a thing?! My goodness I had no idea. I saw her a few years ago and it was funny because I involuntarily uttered "awww" and all the tourists turned around saw her and started taking photos! She is a wonderful addition to a truly remarkable building

I was there in 2018 and I met another cute guardian cat around Hagia Sophia :) it was a bicolor tabby and it was protecting the gift shop! So cute.

I saw Gli this August 2019 in Hagia Sophia. She was downstairs, nearby main hall, very calm and she seemed like a protector of that place. I have a picture of her sitting peacfully :)

We love our stray cats and dogs.They are like one of us. They dont bother nobody actually as everyone knows about how dogs are territorial it is so true If they are getting feed from one of store they would like to show their appreciation with staying around that neighborhood and protect it even u are not there.
Also u can't bully with them they stick for each other side by side and shoulder to shoulder. I will be back home soon love you Istanbul.

This is very sad to hear, but Gli has passed away at 8th of November, 2020. She was a great cat and one of the most popular cats representing the love to animals in Turkey. Rest in Peace, Gli, you will remain alive in our hearts for centuries.

Turkey is a hot spot for cats, I'm sure that's the place every cat wants to be. Even I'd want to be in turkey if I was cat why not right. That gets to show the kindness of turkish people. I live in America, here cats are killed if you take them to an animal shelter under the guise of no one will take care of them. They have underestimated cats.
