That’s a great looking bag. I have a Synapse 25 and used it as my one bag for a 10-day winter trip to Sweden and the Netherlands. These hold so much more than you might think, and the quality is amazing. It’s not hard to see how people (including me) become such fanatics for this company and their bags.
Were you able to pick everything you needed for that 10 days in the synapse 25? What organizers did you use for the inside? I just got one also and love it. I added the pulls to all the zippers.
@@cynicsupreme Yes, everything fit easily. I used a lot of merino wool and did some laundry in the sink at night so things would be dry by morning. I had two packing cubes and some smaller Tom Bihn organizers. I also had a Sidekick that fit inside. It all worked like a charm and I wasn’t missing anything I wanted or needed. Best of all, I took the packing cubes out at the hotel and used the bag as a day bag. It was great.
I think you missed one of the best qualities in the fact that the easy acess to the two side pockets is when you swing it round off one shoulder without having to take the pack off.
watched this video few times already. very detailed, I love it. Looking into buying one but it really is an investment. I know its worth it. I have one tom bihn bag and the quality is superb.
Weird question--do you think the Synik 22 would work as a baby bag? It seems like the bottom could fit a few diapers and the side pockets would work for wipes/cream/snacks. Tom's parental unit has super hard availability and isn't a backpack.
Hmm I’ve never carried one but I can tell you for sure that my brother and sister both have diaper bags about this size (infants and toddler each). You should be able to carry a sufficient amount of parental gear in it
I was close to buying the Synik 22 but I think the lack of breathability sounds like a dealbreaker for me. Any suggestions for a EDC backpack that could also be used as a carry on and travel bag (for hours on the back at a time) that has good breathability? The only option I've come across is the Osprey Parsec 26 (which is getting bigger than I wanted to have). Thanks.
I think of breathability is your main focus you’ll want to go with a hiking bag from Osprey, fjallraven, etc.. For tech/edc I’ve always liked the black ember shadow as well as the bags from evergoods. And to be clear, the Synik is an EPIC bag to use on the daily
Hi great review amongst all the synik reviews I have come across. One question ❓ can we fit a pair of shoes or flip-flops in that bottom compartment? Do let me know . Thanks n good luck 👍🏻🙏
Thank you!! I’d say on the 22L it would be very hard because of the available width, for a shoe. Flip flops should be fine and I’d say max size of about 10-11. Hope that helps!
That’s a great call. I love the Synik and use it all the time but something a little lighter would be nice too. I’ll check it out. Thanks for watching!
Surprised you covered this one, I feel like Tom bihn fans are a specific group 😝. Did you ever do a vid on the boundary prima behind you? Went looking for it in your vids but don’t see anything.
Haha I agree with that. I’d say I’m a rare bag enthusiast I guess. No I haven’t done a video on the Prima yet. It’s the bag that started my obsession so I’m working on something special for it.
@@DaveSam13 I’ll be on the lookout. I have a closet of 5 rotating backpacks and the prima made the cut as a ‘travel’ backpack for me. Too big for edc but I love the quality. It gets love and hate, so looking forward to hearing your opinion on it
15:02 The laptop compartment is deliberately designed in this way to prevent the laptop from slipping out accidentally if the zipper is left open

Agreed. These bags are deceptively stylish and big (in a good way). I’m a fan right there with you even though it’s not my style really.

Fantastic review, thanks!
Do you still have this bag , and are you willing to sell it ?

Thanks for calling it out!

Black Ember Shadow has one of the best back breathability of any non-hiking backpack I've ever tried. Do you have one yourself?
Great review! Did you end up keeping? I’m looking for the 30L guide’s edition in black from 2020
Thanks! Yes I love the Synik. I use it frequently around the city
How hard would it be to fit a 1L Nalgene or yeti in the water bottle pocket?

Tom Bihn seems so sick for EDC. The internal bottle carry on them is so nice. Luminary (~$140) would be a cheaper, smaller, less organized option.

Loved your video! You speak well, & nice setup.

I look forward to making it! Should be before the end of the year.
I want that bag. Please let me buy it from you.
Hahaha they sell it on the website a couple times a year. You’ll snag one!
Great video. Subscribed. 🤙🏼
Thank you!
No HDR this time?
Yeah it should be available in 4K!
@@DaveSam13 Maybe it’s still rendering but it ain’t showing up watching on my OLED.
I’ll check it out. Thank you!

Are you Jason Momoa in disguise? Because you look and _sound_ like him!
Hahaha thanks! My wife would love that
