Sly, sorry for the rickshaw incident. It’s not the money, it’s the principle. Glad the front desk ladies (most likely Suzhou natives) helped you out. I just had almost same experience in Casablanca, taxi driver (called in by hotel front desk) over charged me 25 local currency (about 2, 3 usd). I do miss China. I did quite a bit of travelling around China for a few years. I've been to 52 cities, and countless towns and villages, all over China. Just so much to see, so interesting, and people are very nice.
Interesting travel route, Suzhou is very close to Shanghai. Now, you can take the subway from Shanghai to Suzhou. I have never heard that Suzhou represents high society. love the background song. SongShu fish is one of my favorite dishes.
Not the typical nobles, there were lot of merchants and newly developed cities down south like Suzhou in ancient China, they are of different social status, they are rich but not belong to the nobles.
I think he meant to say "represented rich/high society" in ancient times. During the Ming/Qing dynasties, I think the statement would mostly be true since a lot of the high rank officials were from either the surrounding areas in Jiangsu or from Zhejiang.
I’m glad Alipay paid you back for the extra 25 yuan. Next time when you were caught in the same situation, look for a police or a young university-student- like person nearby to help you out.
Hey, You need to know this information. At the Summer Davos Forum in 2023, Tencent stated that in July this year, Tencent will gradually open the WeChat payment merchant network to international credit or debit card organizations such as Visa, so that overseas users can use commonly used credit cards and debit cards in mainland China. The card is bound to WeChat Pay.
As someone from Suzhou, the old city district(or you can just call it the downtown area) is mostly for tourists. It is the area where Suzhou's traditional culture is celebrated. If you want to see the technological side of the city, you should visit the Industrial Park district. That is where all the new buildings and high rises are at.
I don’t know how long you’re in each city or China for that matter, but you gotta come to Hangzhou. I’m leaving soon to go home to the states for the summer but Hz is well know for water ways (canal) and West Lake. Which is one of the most popular tourist attractions for people in China. It is the “East Asian rainy season” around June and July. Whole southeastern China(Some parts in Japan too) is humid and hot during this season. I got used to it back in China but I don’t think I can deal it now
In order to ensure the safety of passengers, the car will record when you use Didi.
