Try their live version of Green Grass and High Tides. These guys played my little state of Connecticut a lot in the late 70’s - early 80’s. They played with Foghat a few times. Most memorable (that I can remember of it anyway) was a Halloween show. Both bands were at their peak and so good.
I’ve always loved The Outlaws version of this best. Great reaction. That lead singer, Henry Paul, actually formed a successful Country band in the 90s called, Blackhawk.
An old cowboy went riding out One dark and windy day Upon a ridge he rested As he went along his way When all at once a mighty herd Of red eyed cows he saw Plowin' through the ragged skies And up the cloudy draw Their brands were still on fire And their hooves were made of steel Their horns were black and shiny And their hot breath he could feel A bolt of fear went through him As they thundered through the sky He saw the riders coming hard And heard their mournful cry Yippie-yi-yay Yippie-yi-o Ghost riders in....Ghost riders the sky Their faces gaunt Their eyes were blurred Their shirts all soaked with sweat They're riding hard to catch that herd But they ain't caught it yet 'Cause they've got to ride forever On that range up in the sky On horses snorting fire As they ride on, hear their cry Yippie-yi-yay Yippie-yi-o Ghost riders in....Ghost riders the sky Extra lyrics from Johnny Cash's version As the riders loped on by him He heard one call his name 'If you wanna save your soul From hell a-riding on our range Then, cowboy, change your ways today Or with us you will ride Trying to catch the devil's herd Across these endless skies Yippie-yi-o Yippie-yi-yay Ghost riders in the sky Ghost riders in the sky Ghost riders in the sky
RIP Hughie Thomasson (Lead Vocals / Strat Lead Guitar), RIP Billy Jones (Les Paul Lead Guitar / Vocals, RIP Frank O'Keefe (Bass / Vocals)...On this track it's Hughie, Billy, Freddie Salem (guitar, vocals), Rick Cua (Bass, Vocals), David Dix (Drums), Mike Duke (Keyboards, Vocals). Thank you Henry Paul for keeping The Outlaws Live and Alive!
New subscriber, signed up after watching you react to Neil Young's Down By The River. Cool to see you reacting to The Outlaws. Florida's Guitar Army. Loved this band.
Outlaws version of this dusty and beloved classic stands with any one’s. And there have been some great ones….I always wished Roy Clark had hooked up with these boys onstage…They would have blown some minds…
Still one of my favorite bands. Their guitar playing is always excellent. Here's three deep cuts, one each from their first three albums that you would enjoy, Knoxville Girl, Freeborn Man, and Man of the Hour. You probably won't get any reaction requests for these, but they're tunes that would be worth a listen if you're interested in hearing more of their music.
Oddly enough I hit 90 on the interstate yesterday to this song coming home from seeing Mastodon and Gojira the night before....The Outlaws were/are pretty damn good.
Seems like almost every Southern Rock and Country band has covered "Ghost Rider In The Sky" at one time or another. This version is pretty good, the guitar work is excellent, as you would expect from the Florida Guitar Army, as Outlaws were known. GRITS, is a classic tune, don't even know wrote it, but it has been around for years, many, many covers out there.

you can never have to many guitars, ha. This old tune has been done by alot of folks over the years, I like this version, but Johnny Cash's is a little better

The Florida Guitar Army was on fire on this one. 😎

There's a bunch of versions of this song spanning over 70 years. Everyone from Johnny Cash to Willie Nelson and many others.
My favorite version is from Burl Ives in the late 40's I think!
@@davidmckenzie420 I need to check his out I've always liked Burl Ives so I bet I'd like it too
Seen them Live outdoors, around 1980 at Tanglewood, still a fan, FREEBORN MAN.
That's some damn good pickin right there.
Great reaction!
I remember Gene Autry singing this back in the early 50’s.
Always enjoy the Outlaws nice southern rock.
🤠🏞️🐂
Other versions of this... Johnny Cash....Marty Robbins...Spiderbait.
I saw them live in 1982 in Dallas Texas , they opened for Black Sabbath and I loved then live they rocked hard
An old cowboy went riding out
One dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested
As he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd
Of red eyed cows he saw
Plowin' through the ragged skies
And up the cloudy draw
Their brands were still on fire
And their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny
And their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him
As they thundered through the sky
He saw the riders coming hard
And heard their mournful cry
Yippie-yi-yay
Yippie-yi-o
Ghost riders in....Ghost riders the sky
Their faces gaunt
Their eyes were blurred
Their shirts all soaked with sweat
They're riding hard to catch that herd
But they ain't caught it yet
'Cause they've got to ride forever
On that range up in the sky
On horses snorting fire
As they ride on, hear their cry
Yippie-yi-yay
Yippie-yi-o
Ghost riders in....Ghost riders the sky
Extra lyrics from Johnny Cash's version
As the riders loped on by him
He heard one call his name
'If you wanna save your soul
From hell a-riding on our range
Then, cowboy, change your ways today
Or with us you will ride
Trying to catch the devil's herd
Across these endless skies
Yippie-yi-o
Yippie-yi-yay
Ghost riders in the sky
Ghost riders in the sky
Ghost riders in the sky

I'll second all three of these.
I saw them perform this in the mid 80s! They were touring with Foghat and Blue Oyster Cult!
Another great cover!
Great reaction. I love this version. Outlaws, Doc Holliday, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet, my favorite southern rock bands of all times.
Southern rock forever
Oddly enough I hit 90 on the interstate yesterday to this song coming home from seeing Mastodon and Gojira the night before....The Outlaws were/are pretty damn good.
Other Outlaws to consider- Hurry Sundown, Cold and Lonesome, Cry some More, You are the Show, Long Gone, Song for You. #Biziswhereitsat

Their guitar sounds so good live
Love The Outlaws It's About Pride and Trail of Tears are a couple good newer ones!
great old tune
Badass: See Outlaws' "Ghost Riders in the Sky"
Southern rock , 3 guitar attack
Love your channel
They only sang about 50% of the song and did the instrumental for the second half. Decent version.
Good cover, but the old version that I'm acquainted with is haunting, and I enjoy it more. Good band though😊

Their live version of this song by this band is way better than the recorded version!
