Battle Network always felt deeper to me in terms of relationships and character growth than any other megaman. BN3's, BN5's, and BN6's endings are the most emotional scenes in any megaman game to date, IMHO. Most of the other's were sort of robotic (perhaps because the main characters were robots?), while BN and Star Force timeline always seemed to have more depth in the end.
Ill say this. I used to play this game so much that i wore the cartridge in my white copy. Even then i bought the blue version and i played that almost daily. I had my white version repaired and it still has the data of my game. I was so glad i played these games. To this day they remain in my very soul as one of my all time favorite games.

Battle Network was such a fun series. I recommend starting with BN2 though. BN3 hands down was the best of the series. Best story (and best post-game story too). BN2 was such a leap forward in gameplay from BN1 and BN3 perfected everything good about BN2. BN6 was not bad either: It was clearly for the fans -- returns of fan favorite characters, tying the loose ends of story, finally using other navis whenever (BN5 let you use other navis but only during those annoying liberation missions -- and the less said about BN4 the better).
Raiding Nebula's fortress at the end of BN5 was the ONLY part of that game outside of the Liberation Missions that let you control the other Navis. I was glad to see the playable Navis in BN6 were far less restricted. BN3 will always be my favorite though. The combat was very well refined by that point (even if the later games did continue to improve upon it) and the story is so much better than any of the others that it's not even a contest.
Here's a bit of an oddity. Admittedly, I'm not sure how the Jap story is, but you spend BN2 in summer. But go back to 5th grade? BN3's end has you go up to 6th. Anyone mind explaining how this is meant to work? It feels likes Lan should already be in 6th grade, by that logic. As apparently two years have passed in the first three games.
Japan's School year starts on either March or April 1st, summer vacation for them is a break halfway through the year. Graduation is obviously then after Christmas and before next year spring season (they take finals on that period)
Thank you for playing trough the game, i remember finishing mmbn 2 but then didn't play 3 because i couldn't choose between which version to pick. They were both megaman so why was it different it confused me as a child. Great playtrough. Hope you'll do more.
I was seriously wondering if Lan was going to commit suicide, or at least if the series was going to end here, the first time I saw this...although considering what they did in BN4 maybe that wouldn't have been a bad thing.
