The only exception to this would be something like the case at 1:45 where he gets cut in front of, because there wasn't any time to slow to a safe distance. All this being said the AI in these games can still be bonkers.
@@AkrionXxarr He was already keeping enough distance. The reason he got too close is because the AI braked way too hard for no reason. These crashes are not his fault.
As a daily Truck driver, this AI is painfully realistic Edit: Since we belong to different countries, I have to give the explanation that I drive a Cistern truck, not a pickup "truck", 8 ton truck with capacity for 15 tons of water, the word truck here is not used for pickups, maybe that's the confusing part.
I think it depends on where you live so. Because to me, compared to real life, ETS2 AI is great, they drive in a much safer, predictable way. If real life was like ETS2 I wouldn't mind driving. But the way things are here, I started hating to drive. I love cars, but dealing with traffic is a nightmare to me. 🤔
AI in ETS was one of the best AI in simulation games. They made AI little bit dumb so it is now more accurate to real life. People in RL drive more worse than this.
as someone who watches a lot of dashcam videos I'd like to say: this is extremely accurate. stupid drivers, cam driver honking instead of braking, brakechecking, confusion.. pretty normal.
the first tow crashes were definetly your fault you are supposed to keep a big enough distance to the car infront so that you can be safe in the event of them stopping in an emergency
My favorite is when im driving next to an entrance ramp when a braindead AI driver doesnt even see my truck and careens full speed into the side of it without braking at all
The first two and especially the first one is mainly your fault since you're following too close. It doesn't matter how hard they brake, you ALWAYS need to keep enough distance so that you have time to stop before you rear end. The AI in both are indeed driving dangerous with the sudden stopping for unneccessary reasons but still, safe distance applies.
I have countless instances where the AI drivers stopped at the motorways ramp unable to merge and whenever there is a lane closing they are also, unable to merge without stopping.
It's not dumb, it's realistic. You see a car trying to overtake you in a place where it obviously can't see any oncoming traffic, I see yet another day on the Czech roads.
i had an AI failing to merge from a petrol station to the congested mainroad, hit a car, and it reversed into me 🤣 these AI are something (though honestly hilariously realistic too given how miserable some driver irl are)
It's horribly realistic. I don't know if it's mods for me, but a once you enter the main road from your garage and keep going, you find an intersection where people exiting the freeway come from the right. They just drive straight into you and don't bother giving way or stopping. It's like you have to dodge them. I remember most of the time but every once a while I get damage or I end up driving on the wrong side of the road because I swerved so far to avoid these damn cars.
god damn does few things in life make my blood boil more than people in TMP pulling that. Imagine how many people would get autobanned if they added 'rec ban' to a word filter lol So happy I quit playing that mod. Awful playerbase and equally awful staff team, too.
Agreed the AI in this game sometimes gets on my nerves, also glad to see you were driving the MAN TGX Euro 6 at the beginning I thought I were the only one lol
They really should update it now. Give it a little bit more situational awareness. Also they should make them not stop instantly after being slightly hit
AI detects too close to the vehicle in front and then "instructs" you Roundabouts in the UK are such that the outer lane is used to take the next exit, to go around a roundabout using the inside lane
In a situation of a zipper merge you're also forced to give someone else the needed space, in which the car failed to do so. Imagine this happening everytime you try to merge with heavy traffic...
@@thongster I guess you don't understand zip merges? Many countries in real life, you merge at the very end, just how vehicle ahead of you did. You just cut off the red car on the inner lane. Talking about asshole drivers, I guess you are one in real life as well.
It was mostly your fault for either not paying attention or not keeping a safe distance from the car in front. When someone is overtaking you are supposed to not accelarate further, but it would be considered nice if you even slowed down a bit.
to everyone saying ItS rEaLiStIc. people are not blind and stupid and not capable of seeing a big ass trailer next to them and the truck ahed of it so they just merged into it. truck drivers are also not blind to see your trailer next to them and they just merge and crash into it. things like this DO happen not every 5min or so!!! cant even pass 200km without some shit crashing into you!
Let some of the AI drivers be dumb, because there are people driving like that IRL. Even though these dudes really piss me off, it adds realism to the game.
I love ETS2 and ATS, but by gosh THEY NEED TO FIX THE AI! It's a constant pain in the butt. For such a good simulator to have traffic not follow actual traffic rules is just so disturbing :P
The funny thing about ETS AI in my opinion is that you kind of learn to expect the worst as they are very unpredictable. Which in a way is like in real life. Although I will say that things like roundabout priority and random braking for no reason is worse than you would ever expect in real life. And the overtaking on single carriage ways is just good idea executed imperfectly, because quite a few overtakes actually work well and it would be like irl. But overall, in terms of lane management (cars will often stick to the slow lane unless overtaking) and overall behaviour the AI in ETS is pretty good.
At least the AI is smarter and behave more polite, than the casual TruckersMP Player! And as already mentioned by Others, most of the Incidents are your own Fault! The missing Hitbox with the Yards is a known Immersion Breaker, on the Other Hand, SCS want this Game simple! If this would be a serious Simulation, then you would need to plan your Routes ahead, with all Road and Bridge Restriction and the Permits for the Cargo! You would then need 20 Hours playtime of planning for 15 Minutes of driving! ;)
The AI in both ATS/ETS Has no respect for any semi trucks. That is what they need code in lol. Lost count been in my own lane, cruising in my 389, with 80,000,lb or more behind me and have ai vehicles just randomly turn into me or my trailer with no warning. Especially on off ramps. They turn right into you like can’t see you lol. Imo I think ATS is bit worst for ai. Not sure why hah. Still good video :)
Most of these were your own fault
I'll try to avoid getting brake checked and cut off, thanks for the tip!👍
Thats what an IA traffic would say 💀they weren't his fault 🙏

XDDD
1:51 holy moly, I thought that only happened in MP!
I didn't see that one coming lol🤣💀
It absolutely does happen in SP, just very rarely. Nothing like driving on the highway until you see a flipped truck in the right lane.
Me too 🤣🤣🤣
Looks mostly like any dashcam compilation to me, very realistic
1:53 audiobook/radio commentary was on point with what occured
In many cases it's actually quite realistic, even the unpredictability.
However it is quite annoying sometimes.

They got their driver's licenses from Peräjärvi municipality in My Summer Car.

you've got a nice music taste
1:46 minimap at the bottom right, and going 69 mph at the same time
yeah but the van had no reason to change lanes, the AI somehow recognizes merging lanes as potential danger so they make 'space'
that's kph

0:18 irl the yacht got a little shorter...
Even worse when the AI is dumb enough to crash into you but you got the penalty for it

That's why it's so realistic.
Everytime you think AI is stupid, watch some dashcam accidents, you'd be surprised
You know, there's this thing called anticipation and foresight...
When there's a break down the AI will slow down realistic to be fair
This is why I have AI traffic turned off, also because I drive 95mph everywhere
LLBD is an absolutely GOATED podcast.
Definitely didn't expect to find it in the wild.
Last time in ATS I was overtaken by AI and it ran head on into the cop car when they were parallel with me.
Those first two were entirely your fault.
I guess he also drive like that in real life.
0:03 if it was ATS then that would be pretty realistic AI lol
The funniest part is that this is literally how people drive irl too
The AI drives just like people in real life. I have lived in my truck for 25 years on the road.

If there are no traffic signs, you give way to the cars coming from your right. That's how it works in Europe.
1:52 here I thought this only happens in multi player
As someone watching almost every German Dashcam Compilation I only see the most realistic AI in this video 😂
I just have my brakes set to 150% for this reason. One touch of the brake and i am down from 150 to 0.

They're quite realistic AI
If you compare them to L.A. Drivers, I dont think they're any different
They really should update it now. Give it a little bit more situational awareness. Also they should make them not stop instantly after being slightly hit
You say the AI is bad, but between this and all the various dashcam videos I have seen I can't tell the difference between real and AI drivers.
i hate when they randomly stop in the road
Atleast it makes the traffic life real life , but that truck flying should be fixed

It's funny how a fictional drivers can piss one off. But it's okay because all drivers in real life are short-tempered, that also includes you.
