Francoise Hardy - (English) Message Personnel (En Anglais)

- Message Personnel in English! I had no idea this version even existed. On one side of the 45 there is the French version.. flip it over and there is the English version...what a brilliant idea!..I have been told that this is a rare and valuable pressing .. This is an interesting rendition. I was not sure if it would work in English. The "speaking (intro)" part does for sure. The French version of the singing is the best, but I really like the intro in English better. There are a few bumps in the 45 single, but it does not sound too bad for its age. Ms Hardy's French accent is charming as always.
----------------LYRICS-------------------
1973 (Paroles anglaises:- Françoise Hardy/Michel Berger)
-------------------------------------------
at the end of the line is the sound of your voice
and the words that I can't that I never shall say
those words that people fear when they don't make them laugh
that have been too often in books, songs and movies
words I'd like to tell you and words I'd like to live
words I never shall say : I want to, I just can't
I'm so lonesome I could die and I know where you are
I'm coming, wait for me, I know you, you know me
Will you spare me some time 'cause I'll give you all mine
I'd like to come to you, but I always stay
I never come to you : I want to, I just can't
I ought to speak to you, I ought to be with you
or at least try to sleep
I'm afraid you'll be deaf, I'm afraid you'll escape
afraid I'm too forward and I never shall say
that I've fallen for you
but if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't be afraid of memories and sorrow
we'll flee the past where we can leave tomorrow
come and rescue me
if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't be afraid if the path looks narrow
between the past and the life tomorrow
come and rescue me
if you're fed up with your life
and find no way
when every day is just another yesterday
think of me, think of me
but if you think you could love me tomorrow
don't wait a day, don't waste a time you can't know
where will your life lead from here tomorrow
come and rescue me
if you think you could love me tomorrow
run, take my hand, and where you go I'll follow
I need a sign so I can let my love show
come and rescue me
if you're fed up with your life
and find no way
when every day is just another yesterday
think of me, think of me
but if you...
RIP Francoise. Thank You Always for your delicate voice and sensitivity in your music it gives me safety. Your modern beauty and future forward style has influenced generations. We will miss you always. 🤗❤🙌
When Francoise Hardy spoke, people listened. They still do. A timeless and mesmerizing voice for all seasons.
But if you listen carefully , you will hear the crack of a broken heart within these words.
yes
Thank you for this Amanzi. Never knew this was available in English. I met Francoise in Cape Town in the late 60's during her tour of South Africa. So much depth and meaning in her words. A really special and beautiful lady, never to be forgotten. RIP
When I was a young child I remember how we all loved her accent in South Africa. It added charm to the songs
A singer who has gone to artists' paradise. ❤❤😢
GOODBYE (C)2006 ❤❤😢
She is an angel...
Listen "l'amour fou"
An angel on a mission
She is just perfect.
Heart melting voice and words
Without a doubt, MESSAGE PERSONNEL is one of the most beautiful song ever written. It is also Françoise Hardy's best song ever: It is a true masterpiece!
Geez, she has a voice that would make me fight a grizzly bear for her!
Will you also firewalk through molten lava for her, beforehand? I would.

quivering and so charming french accent. ONe if the most beautiful french lady... timeless elegant.
first time I hear Miss Hardy sing in english. I must say it is beautiful !
she contributed to something much more than a beauty.. timeless body of incredible sounds that will last forever
She's PERPECT.
+Nightynight43 Beyond perfection in my eyes and ears.
Howard Burrell That's really true.
extraordinaire Françoise ♡
Full of wistful longing, and a deep love, such a beautiful song...
English version with much less powerful lyrics than the French version, because all the ambiguity of this cruel and desperate love relationship is based on a strange and permanent switch between the "TU" and the "YOU" that Françoise uses when she speaks to her love. A thing absolutely impossible to translate in English ! And as all the strength of this song is based on this switch... (But this version is a real rarity !)
Totally agree with you, the end with "tu" and not "vous " can't be translate.
@@michaelvaniseghem6478 Oooops ! Thank you for your comment Michael, because it also allowed me to see that I should have written : "...between the "TU" and the "VOUS "..." and not between the "TU" and the "YOU" ! 🤗
Interesting
There is a lot you can express in Ftench and not exactly English
If French is said to be more difficult or sophisticated, thay's why.
You and thou? Baf!
I love this song in English and in French.
Glad, I am able now to understand fully what she is singing. Love this song, love Françoise.
Uh... Unfortunately, not really "fully" Kees ! French lyrics are more powerful and more desperate, but above all there's one thing which is totally untranslatable and which makes all the strength of the French version : it's that Françoise is constantly switching from "TU" to "YOU" by talking to her love. Thus, all the ambiguity of this cruel love relationship is there !
I love ❤️ this song I hang on to every word she says beautiful francois Hardy ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤amoura amoura amoura amoura 💙 ❤️
My god, she is the most beautiful woman ever!
my woman godness and one of her best song, even if it sounds better in french
Thank you to help english people to discover my favorite french singer.
And thanks you for english lyrics..
Olivier, from France.
Beautiful song, thanks for this rare version...
The french original probably sounds better to ears, but english isn't too bad either.
As a French native speaker I find that the english version sounds really good as well.
i love the songs of francoise hardy so soo sooo much ;)
this song takes me another world.i can`t breeze right but confotable.
Waw! Just.... WAW! Discovered this English version. I know the French song since more than twenty years, and today, 10 May 2018, first time I hear this English version! Thank you for the share! Thank you SO much!

IncroyablE. Femme magnifique, splendide, très emouvante.
magnifica anche la versione in inglese
This is fine, but words cannot express how better it is in French. Maybe I think that just because I'm a purist and a Francophile, but this isn't nearly as good as the original.
Version agréable en anglais 👍👏
My friend doesn't want to hear the songs in French, so I get the English version. Life has its compromises.
@MrAmberol English: {Opening Poem}
Translation by
Lawrence Raoux from the original French message personal!
"At the end of the other (phone) line, there is your voice,
And there are some words that I won't say.
All those words that make you scared when they don't make you laugh,
Which are in too many movies, songs and books.
I would like to say them to you
And I would like to live them.
I will not.
I want to. I can not.
I am alone in tiring myself out, and I know where you are.
I will arrive, wait for me. We'll get to know each other.
Prepare your time. For you, I have all of mine.
I would like to arrive. I stay (home). I hate myself.
I will not arrive.
I want to. I can not.
Should I talk to you,
Should I arrive,
Or should I sleep?
I'm scared of you being deaf
I'm scared of you being free.
I'm scared of being indescrete.
I can not tell you that I love you, maybe.
{Music}
But if you think one day that you love me,
Do not think that your memories bug me
And run, run till you're all out of breath
Come find me again.
If you think one day that you love me
And if on that day, you feel some sorrow,
Finding where all these paths are taking you
Come find me again.
If the distaste of life comes upon you,
If laziness in life instills within you,
Think of me.
Think of me.
But if you think one day that you love me
Do not consider it to be a problem
and run, run till you're all out of breath.
Come find me again.
If you think one day that you love me,
Don't wait a day, don't wait a week
For you don't know where life's taking you.
Come find me again.
If the distaste of life comes upon you.
If laziness in life instills within you.
Think of me.
Think of me.
But if you...

Notamment le "Come and RESCUE me" qui relève du contre-sens !
yeah, a traslate with her sweet accent...
Francoises I become grow to listen your song !!!!!Thanks to Amazin. Nice the picture at the end!!!! She is a fashion Lady. Perla.

Thank you ! understanding
The French version is more direct. This is the first part I actually understood and then spent years reflecting on. It may not fit the music, but this is how I would translate the "chorus," as it were:
"Si le dégoût de la vie vient en toi
If a disgust for life ever springs up in you
If weariness for living starts to take root in you
Pense à moi, pense à moi
Think of me, think of me."
"If you're fed up with your life" and "When every day is just another yesterday" don't quite capture the pathos the artists (singer and songwriter) intend.
thanks Françoise!
And many many more j'espere!
Thank you for reminding us George!
Great find ! Thanks for sharing it.
I love the photos too.

Good voice and Good music
WONDERFUL WOMAN
You are very welcome. I wish EMI would release some of her English versions on CD. I'd really like to be able to buy some in CD quality. Some of her English versions are very good.
sublime
Maybe, one of the most beautiful gril of the 60's
Amazing 💓💓💓
I didn't know that this english version existed. Love it!
Wonderful
Nice! I can now share this song with my US friends. It's possibly my favorite song ever, definitely top 10. And I mourn the loss of Michel Berger every day. I just loved that man. He was an extraordinary, good, generous person and artist.
Thank you for postings this beautiful song and the pictures!
And also thanks for the lyrics in english.
Wonderful, thanks for this! I knew there was an English version, though I never heard a quality recording of it.
💖💖💖Francoise Hardy🎵
impeccabile questa versione in inglese. d\altronde, francoise cantava benissimo in tutte le lingue possibili. Naturalmente anche in italiano
Parfait❣️🦋💟💕
Count yourself lucky if youtube algorithm sent this to you.
It did not, a french woman send it to me here on RUclips in 2009 😊
In my case, it was the journalist Pepe Escobar that put this song on his Telegram channel.
Escobar being a piercing analyst and writer, I thought it will be interesting to listen to his choice of music as well.
What a timeless song.
To our english-speaking fellows : the translation is fine. I don't know who wrote it, but it's quality work. There are some little meaning slips I find tasteful ( «viens me retrouver» become "come and rescue me" for example. )
What a delightful song anyways. It could be so cheesy but everything is just perfectly poised and the magic occurs.

RIP Françoise
His portrait at 3:22 is to die for and in the last photo, Françoise is as beautiful at 75 as she was at 25 ! (Michel Berger was really a fantastic artist, composer and singer. Too bad he died so young....)
Yeah she wrote it..with all her heart and soul..thats y its so touching
Yeah me too :) I'm glad I have this on vinyl.
Exquisite photo of Francoise at 3:29! Beautiful!
WOW Bev, I've just lurn that she made this song in english too.
How good she is in english. I love listenning to her in any languages.
Thank you Bev.

Take good care, Catherine ♥
Thanks! :)
There's a"maybe" missing at the end of the spoken part...
2:24 perfect ❤

interesting to find out what the meaning of the lyrics are, but definitely prefer the french version
@MrGoonerforlife Keep cool. I was not denying her singing. I like her songs and singing a lot. I have a compil' CD of her. I am even ready to agree that her accent adds extra/exotic charm to the song. But having compared E and F versions, I still prefer the French version. It's softer and more subtle.
yes, she is!
