The Xbox 360 was the first thing I bought with my first paycheck ever, I have good memories with it! Two red-rings later, my Elite (now modded, heh) is still alive! Awesome video, Addie!
Amazing video, dude, and great music; I especially liked the intro track with that 360 soundscapes. What a blast of nostalgia. The 360 was so special. They gave the players such great experiences and weren't obsessed with the monetization side to the degree titles are now. What an amazing time, truly. Awesome video
The Xbox consoles definitely shook up the console industry BIG TIME, and even though Microsoft isnt focusing on hardware as much now, theyre still making waves with their software / Game Pass.
me, kid in elementary school, talking about how I saw GTA 4 in a magazine. Older kid: "The game is out on xbox". "What's an Ick's Box?" "it's like a weird black computer where games release early".
Ooh I'm only in the first five to ten minutes of watching this and I'm like this is so well produced, the voiceover guy sounds familiar like he could have worked with IGN or gamespot or something in the past and then I realised it's you Epos! Huge props to the time gathering resources and sound mixing gone into this video
@@speed_797 yeah his main has 330k and I thought I had stumbled across a gem. I kind of had but it's not someone completely new however definitely a different side than audiovisual and streaming settings stuff

This console was the last 7th generation console i got to play, it was way past its relevancy, but i always wanted to play it for how cool everyone said it was in my 2nd grade classes, and boy was it, in 2023 i got one, and it was amazing, it felt way better than modern consoles even with its metro ui, it had features that made sense, it felt like you really jad a community you could interact with, modern consoles and pc feels so alone, but xbox 360/wii u feels alive
The best video I've ever seen on this era of gaming. Thank you! The 360 was the first console I bought on my own, and you perfectly encapsulated why so many people feel nostalgia for everything from the dashboard to Xbox Arcade and Halo Forge. Your RL footage from that time elevates this video to among the best gaming retrospectives on RUclips.
While I may be a little too young to have distinct and fond memories of the 360, I do remember before we bought the Xbox One, we had a white 360 that unfortunately broke as the disc drive started to malfunction. Being a Gen Zer I have more memories of the One and Nintendo’s darkest years, the Wii U. However, there are still quite a few games I play on the 360, mainly platforming games because that’s just what I’m into. Not all games are backwards compatible and that is one of the reasons I still own a 360. I mainly just play Sonic 06 (yes I like that game, fight me lol), Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, and just recently, Crash Twinsanity. While it’s only 3 games, I do enjoy them and if playing a 360 is the only way to access them, so be it. What I will say is that even if they closed the marketplace, they should’ve done something with the dashboard. It looks so bare and devoid of life. With only 3 tabs now, it almost looked like Microsoft deleted about 65-70% of the console, and now what remains is an echo of the console’s past. A ghost desperately trying to stay relevant but being crushed at every turn by its own creators.
I got my first 360 the Christmas it released. I remember having the cable guy come out to set it up and help us set up the wifi and the adapter lol. Halo 2 and Fable the Lost Chapters were the first two games I played on it for the longest time. Backwards compatibility was a God send lol. Halo 3, Gears, Modern Warfare 1 and 2. Amazing memories were made. A buddy and I recently played through all of the Halos and Gears games. Got that same buddy hooked on Gears when it first released. With my cosole in bag I remember bringing Rock Band with the full set to another buddies place on New Years Eve. His mom would sing all night while 4 kids sounded on drums and threw guitars around before settling down for COD. A lot of memories man... There's not a cloud in sight... Yeah, I'm tearing up. Thanks for this walk down memory Lane muh dude. 🤘
Oh, and having to walk to a local gas station down the street with a buddy to buy Minecraft on a card because I was to young for a credit card just to play with him. 😅
Xbox Live arcade was my favorite. I remember when I was younger and McDonald’s didn’t have any toys for those Happy Meals. So they offered a lot of Xbox live arcade games as an alternative. Aqua, Ms Splosion Man, and Undertow are some fun games that I have fond memories of from my time on 360. Wonderful console. Xbox One has grown on me over the years, so thankfully it’s cheap. I can’t be too mad about Xbox One controllers when they’re maybe $10 and built like a truck. 360 had better triggers and bumpers, so if series x does a revamp, I’d make the triggers and bumpers smaller and higher like 360.
One of the saddest aspects of all of this is that Xbox 360 controllers can't be used with the modern Xbox consoles. Yeah, I know there's the Wingman dongle, but that's only a wired connection and seems iffy. I feel like preserving old controllers where possible is almost as important as preserving the games.
The ps3 does stuff that for whatever reason Sony didn't make the PS4 or PS5 capable of doing. Really it's on sony to fix that. Don't really see why I can't put ps3 and ps1 discs into a ps5 and play. They could have done better. That is why PS3 has to stay around.
"Backwards Compatability" thats everyones counter arguement to why you shouldnt be upset with the closure. But; BC doesnt fix the DLC lost, the possibilty of trying out a game you missed or the effort someone made to make you enjoy their content. Thank you 360.
Xbox 360 was my first real console (other than my ds). From all those memories to the present this console has to be remembered as the last & greatest “modern” console. Afterwards in the Xbox one it just wasn’t the same, im sure there’s a network of reasons for why but i think it’s better to remember this era fondly than mourn the good old days.
Its ok that you didnt do well in Halo online. I never was very good at Call of Duty. Didnt mean i was bad at video games. I just never adjusted to the gameplay style of COD.
The halo 3 stuff was so crazy, the forge, the couch coop excellence, the theater mode. I thought that gaming was ONLY going to get better and we would see more magical stuff. Gaming didn't age well at all :(
Sad it's over, grateful it happened. I've personally always preferred discs, great for collecting, but sucks to see some gems get lost that never got physical releases or ported via backwards compatibility. Of course the online servers are still up and hopefully will remain up for a long time yet, but with multiple games getting their independent servers shut down over the last few years and BF3 at the end of this year, this feels like the calm before the storm in a way.. Hope I'm wrong on that. Microsoft did shut down OG XBL in 2010 for seemingly no reason, but with a ton of 360 games still being populated it would be dumb to shut it down completely anytime soon.
