    I took a demo ride in a Bushcat at the 2016 Midwest LSA Expo. Loved it so much I went up to the importer's home airport (10C) last year and went up with a CFI to got checked out in it (I've got family that live nearby). While there, I got to see several Bushcats in their hangar, each with unique panels. I normally fly a C182, but absolutely love the Bushcat. The center stick and throttle placement to me seemed great ergonomically. I'm 5'10", 175 lbs, and the plane fit me perfectly. Go see 'em at the Midwest LSA Expo being held Sept 6-8, 2018 at KMVN. Not mentioned in the video is the low empty weight of 703 per spec sheet on their web site. I'm a fan.

      John L question from a C172/182 pilot as well... Whats your opinion...on how it handle..how it flys...how it react to winds...take off and landing... How it perform while climbing?...does it shows potential?....and you mention is fun...thats important... I'm trying to get a small project to build with the kids...( teenagers )

    • @jcldano
      @jcldano 6 лет назад +3

      I only have a whopping 1.2 hours in it, and four landings. I think three were on grass, and one paved. Handled great. Easy to land. I put in one click of trim after takeoff and never touched it after that. The last landing was with some wonky variable winds. No issues. If I was to buy my own plane (I share the 182 now), this would be it, hands down. $75-80K for a new S-LSA. Daniela and Jeremy Knoll are very helpful folks. I didn't pay attention to things like climb rate. Check out their Facebook page at facebook.com/LightSport/. There are a few videos there that show the short takeoffs. I want an affordable plane, high fun factor, ability to land in turf or short fields with no apprehension. Best place to see a number of LSAs with small crowds, ability to talk at length with reps, and get demo rides, is the Midwest LSA Expo.

      And they wonder why general aviation is petering out. For most folks, 150k is a nice, large, new house, completely paid for. Kits do have better pricing, but the time invested is so much that most dont want to mess with it, they want to fly now.

    You can feel very secure also if you have to wait for rescue , in case of a forced landing or WHATEVER. Just get YOURSELF in the back of the plane , close up the tarps and go to sleep without any concerns about native animals crawling or chewing at your leg (s). 👍👍👍.

  • @richardloveday1092
    @richardloveday1092 6 лет назад +1

    wow....that was really cool, I can't get over the pricing: and the basicness of it....that is like diesel truck price...and a useful load of a 172; but you get a new airplane!
    The hardest part is you would never be out of the plane it looks so much fun to fly!!!
    That price is what a 172 used to be priced at when I started flying 38 years ago!!! ...before product liability reared it's head for once a month flyers and monopolies in GA.....Peter Griffin Voice: "Good times...Good times"
    What a time builder that would be for the dollar!
    when will you get a chance to fly it MOJO???

  • @AV8R_1
    @AV8R_1 5 лет назад

    If this is a STOL aircraft, why does it have a semi-symmetrical airfoil? This airfoil profile is usually reserved for aerobatic aircraft as the negative camber on the underside of the airfoil provides downward lift. It seems a flat or slightly concave camber on the underside would be more effective for STOL performance.

    • @srnunan4783
      @srnunan4783 3 года назад +1

      Yes a flat bottom wing would get off the ground earlier, I don't think the stitched up sail cloth will cut it, not at this price. That stuff is reserved for the ultralight ally tube frame single seaters

  • @alaskanstrat6618

    Love the video, love the plane. I've been talking with Daniela for a bit, and think I might be ordering my kit in a few days.
    A couple of minor corrections for you:
    - I think you meant to type "It is now being sold in the United States" rather than "not" ;)
    - And in the US, the useful load would be closer to 610lbs

    • @mojogrip
      @mojogrip  6 лет назад

      Hey thanks for the correction. Must be a typo. Was that in the video or the description?

    • @jefish
      @jefish 6 лет назад +2

      The first is just a typo in the description, one that I make all the time. :)
      The 530lb useful load is correct for most parts of the world, so it's not an error on your part. But with the US having a 1320lbs MTOW, the useful load is actually higher. 530lbs is stated in the description and in the overlay at the end of the video. Might be worth mentioning the difference, is all.

    So, was thinking about it, and- I wonder if this plane should be on Mike's short list? Modestly priced ($28k for air frame), 300 hours to assemble, and- choices with engines & avionics? I checked out the panel layouts, and think that a pretty nice set up is available without spending too much cash. Sure, blended steam gauges & touch screens- but, probably the way I'd want to have visibility. It DOES strike me as: light weight & a slower cross country trip, but, modest fuel use, great visibility and a comfortable platform offsets some of that. Aeromomentum 117HP Suzuki... Duc 3 blade prop and you'd have the best of all worlds, maybe.
    I just want to know if the wings are easily removeable, and, if people trailer them. I did notice aluminum & steel fittings, which can cause corrosion & oxidation, but, perhaps bushings are installed for separation? It seems to be a great STOL craft (design function) with good endurance. For $100 burgers, shorter cross country's & flights around the pattern- no problem. STOL capability helps if issues happen, and- for fun as well. Trent Palmer, Alex Di Sessa, Flying Cowboys, etc...
    For budgeting, airframe first. Engine second, avionics 3rd? Just to 'break up' buying 3 cars.... KnowwhatImean, Mike?
