In this thrift vlog we're heading to the trendiest thrift store in Austin, TX, Pavement Thrift on Lamar! I've heard about this thrift store on social media and through word of mouth by everyone from my barista to other thrift store cashiers. Aww I'm sorry you had a poor experience there. Honestly, that's why I love the more common local thrift stores bc they're not as overpriced and the environment is overall more conducive to a pleasant shopping experience. Love the quote of the week!!

Yepppp I felt the same way about pavement. The music was soooooooo mother effing loud and the workers weren’t that friendly.
We have a place exactly like that in my town. I call it thrifting for lazy people. They are SO rude especially when buying items from you. They overprice everything and act like no one is cool enough to shop there. Usually I find nothing I want too because all of the items are so “cool” that it just doesn’t vibe with my style. That DVF dress is perfect for you!!!
The pants from Talbots are so cool! They give almost Scooby Doo vibes.
I hear you! Went to Austin to thrift and was totally let down the place. Music too loud, people were rude, racks packed with 90 percent terrible items. Not a fun experience at all. I kept trying to find items but just left overwhelmed, exhausted, over stimulated, and with zero items! Guess it’s good that I’ve checked it off the list! Love the video!!!

when i visited austin back in march i also went to pavement, left with nothing! super disappointed. also SO OVERPRICED!! the racks were also super stuffed like you said, trying to look at shirts was so annoying.

When I saw the video I added it to my list of things to do in Austin in two weeks. At the end...I erased it lol I'm sorry it wasn't a great experience, but you found great pieces!
I paused watching on mobile to RUN here and say that when you mentioned Abercrombie and Hollister I had Vietnam flashbacks of being smacked in the face with a thick wall of their perfume? Musk? Scent of Doom??? and my bones and brain rattling from the music. I understand that completely on the worst level possible.

Omg girl tell me why I just went yesterday my first time & it was raining and I have such bad driving anxiety! I had 2 bags full of clothes & they only got ONEEEEE item (they give good $). One of the workers was really sweet & said to try and sell again and not to be discouraged for anyone that’s a reseller. My ig is @segundalove!

Such fun pieces 😍 I was really lucky a few years back to get a DVF dress. It's a black crepe/leather wrap dress from her 2013 A/W collection and still had the tags on it. It was only £12.95! I couldn't believe it when I found it as I live in a small town in Northern Ireland 😁

I’m from Houston and we have one here as well and my friends and I had the same experience! People just hover over you and if you’re on a rack by yourself be prepared for someone to push all the clothes closer to you just do they have room room look. Parking is the same as well. We aren’t going back anytime soon lol

Been yo lots of charity stores here in England but I get so tired so quickly as I prefer clothing to be in size order or colour/style, glad you found some clothes you liked in the end.
I always take a shopping trolley/bag with wheels, makes life so much easier.
I totally get the loud music thing, it makes you want to get out so quickly, don't think I'd ever go back to a store like that again.
What is it with people being do rude these days, and personal space/covid.....

I 💖 thrift shopping / ukay-ukay because some of the clothing, footwear & accessories are cheap yet less expensive... My favorite items: statement shirts, shorts, pants, sneakers and friendship/statement bracelets. Btw, I'm now enjoying watching this content! 💖
we have a pavement in houston too! it can be a little overpriced but i love the pieces i’ve gotten so i guess i can’t complain 😂

Sorry you had such a bad time at that place. I hate loud music. It can damage your hearing and the ability to hear is very important. I guess that store doesn't want costumers! And the few thrifts I go to hear, the clothes are so thick on the racks you cannot literally slide stuff over at all. Its jammed packed. But if you look you can still find a few nice things.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience in that store! But I had such experiences too, here in Germany. Seems to be an international thing. The vibe of a store is created by the ambiance, aka the music, the interior design of the racks and most of all the employees.

Hi. So unfortunately. But I understand that one. We have a store here. It's a thrift store before covid it was so bad. Now it is one of the best store here. Keep a eye out maybe it was the day ok. Keep up the great work.
The Pavement on Guadalupe is so much better. Parking is still hard, but it really is better than the south location. The music is still loud, but I liked the music. My problem is that they are so overpriced imo. I went to the dollar sale and its just like 3 racks that are a dollar so it's not worth it. I go thrifting for deals. Texas thrift is my favorite and Salvation Army on S. Congress are great. I hope I get to run into you one day!

I think it’s important to share this. A lot of people things vloggers have a red carpet rolled out for them in every place they go. When you’re trying to film good shots and having a horrible experience, it’s hard. So sorry!!
