Ms. Min does know the whole 90's concept was alive and well without her, right?😒 I'm guessing Lee Hyori's 10 Minutes making a comeback is her doing too.
Which was inspired from Britney Spears baby one more time concept (10 minute) 😂🤣 like I said - everyone copies everyone … no one is stupid enough to say “you copied my style and concept” because most stylists aren’t stupid.

Most of Lee Hyori's hit songs were actually direct copies of, not inspired by other western artists songs. Remember when 80% of one of her albums was direct plagiarism because of the main songwriter? 10 Minutes isn't inspired by Britney Spears, it's a copy of a few US groups songs. One of them is Eve and Gwen Stefani's song Let Me Blow Your Mind. The melody and lyrics in the chorus of 10 Minutes is definitely a copy of another western song. I knew it the very first time I heard it and I know I have the original song in my 20K cd collection but I've yet to find it.
90s retro nostalgia was really popular on tiktok in 2020. Early 2000s music was making a comeback because of artists like Pink Pantheress. Min Heejin saw the popularity of it and used it for New Jeans, the tried to gaslight the audience into thinking no one was doing these styles before her. Y2K was trending for years before New Jeans. If Ms. Min wants to claim natural hair and 5 member groups, then she needs to thank first generation kpop/jpop groups because they did it first. Her complaints feel like a distraction to get people away from the investigation and focussing on hating the groups she’s mentioning. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, and ILLIT being compared to New Jeans just gives New Jeans more publicity so why is she mad?
She's mad because of the way the details were copied! Isn't this the same kpop seen where when aespa was remotely dressed similar to BP everyone cried foul including me? Now just cuz they're the same company it's ok? I think Ms. Min's points are valid though I don't even like her or NJ
@@l_on186 wrong, she is angry because another group of girls from the same company uses something similar to this style and they are having more success than her group of girls, believe me, if the group had not had all the success they have and they had gone unnoticed, she would not be like this .. ..oh yes and also she is greedy

It infuriates me when koreans complain that it’s their own ideas when international groups does it when that’s a lie. At least groups like XG recognize and love the Black American music, very few kpop groups do that 😤
I’m a little worried that Ms. Min has dragged these young girls into the fight and they will go down because of it. Saying BTS was a concept stolen from her was a huge mistake. Even if there are non bts fans divided on this statement, ARMY won’t let it go if she persists in dragging the boys into her fight. She needs to let this group go so they can survive… and I hope the girls don’t make any rash comments …. They are young and inexperienced. I hope they don’t look back 10 years from now saying “if only I kept my mouth shut.”
Many fans are in denial but the clear truth is that NJ is far from being original. And they’re among the most overhyped groups out there. Reality certainly bites !
No one said original. It’s y2k concept so it’s obviously going to have similarity and inspirations from the old days. And that is like a different generation entirely. But all the other group she compared with are either the generation that is after nj or in the nj generation. You guys are talking about 90s but mhj was comparing about the present generation, groups.
@@Newbird50bts was not overhyped at the outset. They climbed up the ladder. Newjeans just rode their sunbaes popularity and the marketing/AI/algorithm hacks+payola hacks for music wins of Hybe P.s. And wdym my other girl groups when ILLIT is the only one I am talking about that is straight up copying mhj formula. I remember Y2K was on the rise before the pandemic hit, particularly in fashion. Even if you're casually into fashion whatsoever it wouldn't have been that hard to predict Y2K was on the rise. I'm actually surprised no one else took advantage of it before her.
When New Jeans debuted, it was talked about as being inspired by the Japanese idol group SPEED. The music video for "ATTENTION" is similar to the music video for "BODY & SOUL" released in 1996.

What is actually tragic, is that in a corporate world that is already quite sexist - her very unthought out behavior and outburst will probably be the reason other women's ideas in the industry will be ignored or plain shut down to avoid bad publicity. In the 90s most record labels were doing the same concepts, none of were accusing one another of copying. She probably just thinks that her group will lose their uniqueness.
She thought that the very young wouldn't know about trends of America 80s, 90, and early 2000s, and would be convinced the retro Y2K(?) brand was her creation alone.

It’s truly laughable. She needs help. Maybe she can go to the psych ward. She sure loves to generalize them. This is Karma for making those girls sing that disgusting cookie song.
There's inspiration and then there's copying i.e. plaigirism. And just look at the choreography and the Lolita look and the overalls... no one else was really doing that in that way in kpop at the time even if it had been done in the past. Again, i actually don't stan NJ but I can see that HYBE is being foul here
Most of k pop has copied the 90s especially with TLC, Aaliyah, and Japanese groups who were inspired by black girl groups. I feel the issue is with how once newjeans use the style and made it popular again, every other group ran to do it because it’s popular again.
Yes, they are just following popular trends. Same thing happened when BlackPink became popular. Kpop companies started designing girl groups with girl crush concepts. Like Aespa and Itzy
As someone who's been listening to Korean indie r&b songs since 2017, I feel cringe when people call their music as fresh when they came out. I have to be honest the K-R&B industry is WAY AHEAD than NewJeans music
This exactly. Most people agreeing with these claims do not actually listen to k music or music in general. Even Pink Pantheress has 2000-type music, that sounds a lot like NJ, and she came out with it before them.
CORRECTION: The name "NEW JEANS" was copied from Brooke Shields famous calvin klein commercial from the 80s which was called NEW JEANS. Why Min HeejIn copied this? Well, she is OBSESSED with Lolita style and that commercial was very controversial since Brooke was super young and her poses on those posters (+ almost open blouse) were very sexual (not to mention Brooke got famous because of her lolita image). That's where Miss Min got her idea for NEW JEANS group name.
Honestly all of KpOp is just copy paste from the 90s. The lady is crazy and hated HYBE this whole time. She came into the house hostile from the start it felt like she thought she was ABOVE everyone else. She needs to go I thought New Jeans whole concept was nostalgia from the 90s and that's NOT NEW like you said. I still want to know how Bang copied her with BTS when BTS was literally formed AROUND KIM NAMJOON!!!! SHE'S CRAZY
To put this simply, I think Min Hee-Jin with her mega ego was jealous of Bang PD and his success with BTS when she's been around as much as he was. She probably wanted to become the next Bang PD using New Jeans.
I don't think this is the case. I think she just doesn't want her work copied to the extent it was by ILLIT just cuz they're in the same company. It dilutes the novelty of NJ. Again, i don't even like NJ's music but I agree with Ms. Min's point.
Likely, she’s been in the industry for awhile so it’s normal to want more but she just isn’t at the point where she has influences or enough knowledge to do that, as her press conference shows 💀
@l_on186 But they are not really alike though.... NJ has a 90s R&B sound and ILLIT does not. ILLIT has styling that's sort of more gothic Lolita lite or bright fairytale with a hint of darkness underneath. NJ is more 90S/Y2K with the baggy jeans and crop tops and denim on denim. So what is it? Being Korean females in Kpop? Having 5 members? She was mad about LSF existing too. Her copying claims are BS. She's just mad because, as she said, she wanted to have **the only** gg. Plus New Jeans made way more money than she did, and she has been mentioning money repeatedly. This has nothing to do with the well being of those girls nor creative and intellectual protection.
@@NanciBK if what you say is true then why did ILLIT wear baggy jeans throughout the lucky girl syndrome? even their video of revealing their fan name was in Jeans/overalls. I don't have any thoughts on that in particular cuz I don't know her. And honestly NJ music and vibe is not my style so I've not been into them since they came out. I just think MHJ is not lying about the copying stuff. If the groups have the same company stylists, vendors, choreographers, producers, song writers….it’s all going to be the same. I think Illit has small negligible similitarities to NewJeans in the style of their choreo and overall vibe of aesthetics. But otherwise i think their both specifically different. It sounds like something the anti fans had ready as an argument to start the hate train on Illit. Although i was sceptical of how nefarious her intentions were, now MHJ seems to use the argument as a way to discredit another group is so shady and it does make her look hella suspicious.
Remember when BTS released Skool Love Affair and got accused of copying EXO for wearing school uniforms in the promotions? Hmmmmmm, who was EXO’s marketing director at the time? Any guesses?
The latest press thing that she did is beyond disgusting. It’s insane to me that she would position herself on a higher up position and blatantly play down other sub labels at hybe (in this very case Source music) and the way she shaded Gfriend. Fucking disgusting
When she was hired by Bang PD nim, coming from SM Ent., I already had a weard feeling. But since SiHyuk would like to maintain the popularity oF KPop around the world, especially in the absence of BTS (he thinks ahead) he thought this girl will help him do that. But she didn't. as a millennial who grew up in 90s, the phrase 'copying 90s' is quite weird, its common for musician and artist to be inspired by music and fashion from the previous generation, for example, in 1990s there are some group band who were using the 1960s and 1970s music and style on their concept, and its a common thing
Kpop is a cycle of monotony. There is no originality in the industry. Every group looks and feels the same. This is why BTS is not taken well in Korea. They went against the grain and did something completely different

So, the misconception is that she revived it. Fashion often recycles, and people do imitate each other. But there's a difference when someone you dislike tears down your fashion, then copies it because they were clearly in the wrong. That's when it becomes a battle. The audacity to criticize and then replicate might be what's fueling Min’s frustration. I get it. I’m not judging.
Agreed about her baseless claims. That's the way the music industry operates. Something becomes popular, and others imitate it. She doesn't own anything. I think these claims are all just to distract people from what she was doing behind the scenes that precipitated the audit. She had a press conference to gain sympathy from people who don't know better, all the while avoiding the real serious allegations against her. I think she employs emotional manipulation tactics to get what she wants and most likely has used them with NJ and their parents to keep them tied to her. HYBE would not waste time on an audit and then taking her to court unless they noticed something was wrong and then found proof about it.

The 90s was the era when Min was the same age as New Jeans members. She wants to live vicariously through them. The name New 뉴 Jean's ( 진 from her name 희진) was her idea. She said she had the total control. BTW, it is not a good name; it does relate to their fandom "bunnies." Min is a good study material for people studying psychology. The last empress of Joseon dynasty (present day S. Korea) was Min (surname). She was assasinated by Ninjas and Korean accomplices (according to legend). History lesson time.

The common denominator between these two artists was MHJ. And can I remind people that she agreed to work with V (clearly for clout and using V to help promote new jeans) and at the same time she was doing this nonsense with Hybe and now accusing BTS also. I think the idea of using the 90s aesthetic was already pitched out since the plus global audition and it was not solely min heejin idea but it was a collaboration. If you see the promotional pictures of that audition, hybe based illit concept on these ideas. In this sense hybe has the right to use this concept for illit and min heejin cannot really do anything about it. I think what happened is that source music in collaboration with min heejin was meant to initially debut a similar group to newjeans concept. However seeing the success of aespa and ive, bsh thought that it was too risky to debut this group first. So they decided to debut le sserafim. However, min heejin got upset and threathened to make a scandal over it and convinced the new hybe ceo to allow her to create ador and make source music to give her those girls to debut with her. This obviously angered bsh and source music because this left them with the costs when they perhaps thought that they could still debut this group later and it was also their idea. At the end they provided the money and min heejin just brought the pen and the paper
Doesn't she remind you all of those silly sterotypes in some USA older programmes of the bully girls in American High schools in the 'in crowd' who would have a group of hanger oner's strutting their stuff flipping their hair and saying 'Don't copy me girl'.

I don't think this is the case. I think she just doesn't want her work copied to the extent it was by ILLIT just cuz they're in the same company. It dilutes the novelty of NJ. Again, i don't even like NJ's music but I agree with Ms. Min's point.
This is it, this is the real crux of her goals.
Likely, she’s been in the industry for awhile so it’s normal to want more but she just isn’t at the point where she has influences or enough knowledge to do that, as her press conference shows 💀

NJ has a 90s R&B sound and ILLIT does not. ILLIT has styling that's sort of more gothic Lolita lite or bright fairytale with a hint of darkness underneath. NJ is more 90S/Y2K with the baggy jeans and crop tops and denim on denim.

Her Shaman allegedly told MHJ that she was being possessed... LOL
She is dangerous. The law better step in. Hybe better stop throwing money at people if it isn't BTS.
So she is making copies of her younger self, I knew she was delusional but also crazy, so she made the 90' that statement along is crazy
Everything in this world has been copied things are replicated so she didn’t invent anything..meaning she is not the CEO she supposed to be and should be fired without delay she can cry as much she wants in front of camera but she has go the whole world is watching the drama it’s not good at all
Will Miss Min claim she invented the piano key necktie as well? Her ego exploded and there is no going back.
New jeans copied of Mexican girl band called jeans from 90s - 00s , they copied the name, logo, clothes, hairstyles, dance choreography all from Jeans Mexican girl band.
Nope 👎🏿
Excellent video! Glad to see your update on this case. Min HeeJin should have gone after Riize for so having the early 2000s aesthetic
She actually did do. She said riize and tws copied her concept too 😅
if you ask me illit and new jeans don’t even have the same concept. illit is more coquette and new jeans is 90s but it’ll be interesting to see their new comeback to see who’s copying who either way who cares ab copying done to a degree that changes it up a bit to their style it changes all the time due to trends
Sean don't forget NJs choreo from either Ditto or OMG was previously from a girl group. 95% previously choreoed for a different GG with a few changes. Can't recall if the original group debuted or not but the side by side video of it is floating around the web somewhere. I think I saw it early part of 2023 on YT.
11:08 that’s called Igari. It’s the Japanese drunk makeup look that has existed for decades. The idea is to look flush like a hangover because it was thought to be cute. 🥰
You are so right. And this has the making of a K-drama! I think the copying thing is a cover for a vendetta of some kind. She didn’t get something she wanted so she's stirring the pot to see what works. I think she just shot herself in the foot.
She can keep gabbing as much as she wants she's just trying to deflect from the real issue and that's not going to work in a court of law.
For her to make a very bold and serious move risking both her career and Ador....she must have a partner backing her up with this "thing" to boost her confidence to do this...its premeditated and a shes had convos with an Ador exec regarding "the plan".....just a theory....i do hope she sees this til the end....she needs an excellent lawyer to represent her as she set herself up for a very bloody battle ahead
I'm your age, 40, but I only recently got into K-Pop. But New Jeans does remind me a lot of the R&B girl groups from the 90's/early 2000's.
backstreet, spice girls, destiny child, speed should be ashamed in copying new jeans😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
The 90s was the era when Min was the same age as New Jeans members. She wants to live vicariously through them. The name New 뉴 Jean's ( 진 from her name 희진) was her idea. She said she had the total control. BTW, it is not a good name; it does relate to their fandom "bunnies." Min is a good study material for people studying psychology.
The last empress of Joseon dynasty (present day S. Korea) was Min (surname). She was assasinated by Ninjas and Korean accomplices (according to legend). History lesson time.
This is an unhinged comment. You should be put on a watchlist.
@dariang4725 Why? You have to tell me the reason. I studied psychology and biology (DNA), Narcissism can be passed down through generations. You can verify the history of Korea on Wiki or Google it. People have narcissism to some degree, but hers is a little more heightened. I feel terrible for the girls caught up in this fiasco.
To me, I think she wants to create the next K-pop " TLC".
Yes, who’s copy who. Is it a coincidence that after V released Layover where MHJ was the creative director for V’s concept and a little afterwards Taemin released his comeback and his concept was almost identical with V’s. The common denominator between these two artists was MHJ. And can I remind people that she agreed to work with V (clearly for clout and using V to help promote new jeans) and at the same time she was doing this nonsense with Hybe and now accusing BTS also. And she made sure to put her label on the top floor and big hit below hers.
Another great video.
The plagiarism charge is ridiculous.
Everyone copies everyone in music.
This hurts NJ.
I'm from the 60, 70 Era and those styles of tops I wore in my teens. Trend setters are from the ancient of days. All modern humans have no individual ideas they can call their own.
what about Ms Min saying that Bang PD copied her and made BTS?
Blackpink already wore Y2K item in How you like that so and lots of other groups not Newjeans, Newjeans make it famous not the first to make it!
Good grief! Do we (public) really need more evidence to "see" how delusional she is? Really? 🤨
Her way of thinking and branding is still at south korea scope, while HYBE is already an international company. She is not ready to take that much responsibiloty in HYBE 😂😂😂😂😂.
Korean idol culture is about bullying the junior. Thats what happens in SM. Snd thst is what brainwashed her in doing her job.
That is why she is bullying Illit and soumu. Feeling superior because BSH take her in personally and being such an angel investor CEO who appreciate talented person (i do admit MHJ does have good talent in making branding for idol girl groups) as he always is.
But again, looks like this is a huge lessons for Bang Si Hyuk too. Lookin him saying MHJ is not worth to react too just go legally and lawfully is him giving up abt her 😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
I think the idea of using the 90s aesthetic was already pitched out since the plus global audition and it was not solely min heejin idea but it was a collaboration.
The name of the group is copy of an mexican group of 90 called JEANS they just put NEW in the begin also one of the music videos is similar to a song of the group, and not just them also copy style, mv, the name logo and the mascot too of the group SPEED from japan, nothing she "created" is hers 😅
edit: some of the corography of some of the song are copy of the corographys of BTS
Illit isn’t famous rn because they copied her 😂 it was purely because of their addicting music HAHAHAHA literally every content creator is using it like bfr 😅 she just couldn’t take it that they beat her
School girl look was popularized by Clueless in 95...then by Britney spears in 99 but in America we were already wearing it in 1990....
Dont get me started on Baggy jeans....TLC/Aaliyah/Xscape etc for the 90's.......
Queen Latifah/MC lyte/ Yoyo for the 1980's....baggy jeans was apart of American hiphop since the 80's....we should sue her😂
8:01 the archival footage from the 90’s in 4:3 📺 aspect ratio 🥴
1:55 "we need to call the k-pop retirement home" lmfaooo
Lol- Being much older, I will say that fashion will always repeat itself. The changes are little tweaks here and there. I copied her style in the 70"s.
I was thinking the same about the 70’s
Even if we focus on the current trend in kpop, ssak3 did y2k in 2020, jeon soyeon, somi, yena, itzy, stayc all did y2k elements before njs debut’d and I’m only picking music show winning releases which means there was a certain level of recognized popularity.
NewJeans is meant to rebirth 90s soul of group in this era therefore it is not considered as coping; while ilite just imitate them with the same concept in the same era therefore it is considered as cheap coping!!!!
