They have such a variety. They did a whole series on "Evolution of...". Their collaboration with Dolly Parton- Jolene- won them a Grammy as did their version of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Other fans include their cover of "No" and their original "Love Again"
Their cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" is another wonderful show of their talent, and you get to here the beatboxer (Kevin) sing. Just note, anything you react to prior to 2018 will be with this bass, Avi Kaplan. After 2018, the bass will be Matt Sallee. Both are wonderful. Avi is more classic, Matt more pop. If do plan to react to a song you've never heard before (especially their cover of Kiiara's "Gold") please listen to the original first so you can revel in their upgrade.
@@zipadoodlebug7124 I've probably watched Imagine (either the original or a reaction to it) about 50 times, I still cry every time. And I've heard the song probably about a hundred times more (just the song, no video), and it still makes me cry. It's just such a great version of the song. But I love Beatles and John Lennon songs sung by other people. I'm not a fan of The Beatles, and I think John Lennon was a great writer, but a terrible vocalist.
Never apologize for pausing. It's a reaction after all. We're here to hear your opinions on the music/videos. 🙌 If anyone complains about you pausing. I would probably tell them to f@#* off and just go watch the original video. 😁
The sound is recorded in the studio - in one take (I believe they record 4 x 1 take recordings - then choose the best). The video is done in scenes all in one night outdoors and they were rushing at the end to get it done before sunrise!! There is a behind the scenes video which is worth a watch.
That's not true. The 4x1 take is just for their evolution videos. A video like this is recorded separately and in segments again and again. And layered a bit. But they do perform this very very well live on tour so they can for sure perform it as intended.
You can see when Kirstin jumps on the couch for the Mamma Mia section, the sun is coming up behind her, so that was obviously one of the last takes of the filming night.
Another beautiful cover that they do is “Say Something” by Christina Aguilera and A great big World. Another commentor mentioned to put a transparent filter over the video to beat the copyright gremlins. That has worked very well for other Pentatonix reviewers. Other reviewers have mentioned that they have disputed the copyright and RUclips eventually releases the video.
I vote yes for the filter. It would mean less pauses and be a whole lot less distracting. I can't imagine that it's easy to react to a music video if you constantly have to interrupt it.
I've seen them do this LIVE, and it's all one take, and no backing tracks at all. Only difference live is that there are about 20,000 fans singing along!! I am SO enjoying your reactions!!
the BEST thing abotut Pentatonix, is what you hear in the videos and what you hear on the albums - is EXACTLY what they sound like when they sing live. They don't record anything they can't replicate live and make it sound the same. They are INCREDIBLE to watch live.
I recommend to hear their newest member of the group, who replaced the bearded guy after he left the group amicably. The sound of silence or amazing Grace are good ones to hear him for the first time.
The couch is very symbolic. They started their Career sitting in that set up on a couch singing songs on their youtube channel after their record label dumped them and this was the last song they were doing with Avi so they start on the couch and end on the couch.
Definitely react to their cover of Imagine when you get the chance! Really inspiring message, they also have many "evolution of" medleys that they have done since the start of their time that are incredible. Also there's a behind the scenes to answer some of your questions about the video if you ever want to watch that, either as a reaction or in your free time!
12:15 the headache is the joy joy joy rushing to your head. I've been to several of the concerts and YES they really do sound like this and YES I get the joy joy joy rush too
FYI PTX has a ton of Christmas songs, for me i can hear them all the time it doesn't matter a time in a year, could be any time.. try with " "Carols of Bells" dec 2021 performance Under the stars, just flawless 😌.
I’m afraid they are turning into a Christmas time group, like Trans Siberian Orchestra. I think they have enough holiday songs and need to keep branching to more covers or really get original pieces written for them.
"Mary Did You Know" will blow your mind, both for the exquisite harmonies and the heavenly solos that showcase the voices of each member of the group, including beatboxer Kevin. "Imagine" is another one that showcases each member's voice, while also communicating a powerful message. If that one doesn't bring you to tears, nothing will. 😂 "The Sound of Silence" is also a must-hear.
Your enthusiasm is so infections and I agree with everything you said. Phenomenal! Their cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” would be a good one to do next. Thanks for posting.
Imagine is wonderful, moving, emotional. Another fave is from their original Sing Off competition Dog Days Are Over. It’s mind-blowing for so many reasons. The way they set Mitch up for a solo moment makes you want to cry, it’s so beautiful. And the energy that Scott brings to it (despite being sick that day) is truly impressive. But the extra treat you will rarely see in any of their performances is Bass Avi doing his throat singing right in the beginning of the song. That’s a whole other category of amazingness. Dog Days. Look for it. 😍
There’s still tons of songs to pick from. Not exactly the season, but Little Drummer Boy is amazing. Say Something will pull your heart out and, most likely, Sound of Silence will, as well. Truly enjoying your joy to this incredible group of talent. Best of luck on the continued success of your channel, good sir. 😊
Sugar Plum Fairy for a great Mitch high note. Or youtube video "aha pentatonix singapore the star vista".. that specific video where Mitch really gets into it.
You should really check out 'Mary did you know', 'La la latch' , and ' Aha! live at the star vista singapore' by them. These are my personal favourites but i think you'll enjoy them as much as i did too. Much love to you and your channel, you are amazing !
I love all their songs, and you have to check them all out because they're all so different. "Mary did you know" and all of their Christmas songs are amazing also....
They have a behind-the-scenes video of the making of their 2021 Christmas album, Evergreen. It shows us how they work on each song, how they work together, how they choose what the sound is going to be. It's fascinating and also can help your brain believe that it's really just them :D
2:22 in video when Avi hits that first low note. He has like a four/five octave range. Listen to' "any way the wind blows" 5:35 > He starts low "any" and several octaves later "blows".
Yay! I love this version so much. If you love Mitch's voice, he and Scott do music as a Duo called SuperFruit and they did a cover of "Rise" by Katy Perry with three other amazing singers in support of LGBTQ in the wake of hate crimes. One of the most moving songs and the VOICES, omg... You should check that out for sure.
Watch the behind the scenes video of this. It literally took all night to finish. They were racing against sunrise to get it finished. They had several technical issues, but the end result was amazing as usual.
Infrequently noted by reactors, but very impressive, is their vocalization of the arpegiated chords played by Freddie on the piano. Pentatonix sings these precisely on pitch and precisely rhythmically. So perfect that very few remark on how hard that is. And it is supremely hard.
Another great reaction. You keep talking about Imagine Dragons and how they remind you of them. You need to check out their cover of Radioactive featuring Lindsay Sterling. Kevin the beatboxer is Cello boxing while playing his cello named Beyonce. Simply amazing and talented bunch of people. Here's the link for the video. Enjoy and keep the reactions coming ruclips.net/video/aE2GCa-_nyU/видео.html
You are spot on about your brain not being able to comprehend what your ears hear and eyes see. I come back to your reaction on Pentatonix because I crave your excitement to. I go back to others who react to them as well. Thank you for helping to lift my spirit with joy, awe and excitement. Hugs
Love Pentatonix! So glad you enjoy listening to them as well! I know it's easy to just focus on the lead at the time - goodness knows it's always incredible, no matter who is taking the lead at the time - I've found I have to listen to their songs several times, just to appreciate what's happening in the 'background' - that's what (in my humble opinion) makes them great, the intricate back up to the lead, not just the bass and percussion, but the vocals filling the space and enhancing the song. So Good! Every time I listen to a song, or watch a reaction, I always hear just a little bit more of what is going on. They are amazing. Great comment about how they always look like they are enjoying what they are doing and having a blast - it really does come through in the music!
Don't worry, us Pentaholics are well used to the pausing in these kinds of videos - there's a reason they're sometimes known as 'Pause-a-tonix Reaction videos!' And when the reactions are as good as yours, it just makes it even better.
❣ **THERE ARE LITERALLY NO WORDS IN MY ENGLISH VOCABULARY, THAT CAN DESCRIBE THIS GROUP!!!** ❣ I have also come to the conclusion, that Mitch is an Alien, from the planet of WTF 🙃 😊🙃 I truly love how Pentatonix will put their own spin on a song, yet still manage to keep the integrity & respect the original artist. ❣❣❣
This is a studio recording and I feel sure each segment must have been recorded separately. I have read in the past that they will record songs (or segments) a couple of times and then choose the best ones for the official videos. That said, they have done this song live in concert and I don’t believe Queen ever did.
As someone who has been singing Barbershop Baritone, my ears and eyes never had any conflict or confusion. The talent of each member is beyond compare. I still say the last two chords are the most incredible progression. You hear the chord resolves at the end, but it does so in three steps. Mitch comes in after the penultimate chord begins. The others rotate into the resolve, and then Mitch raises his voice by a very precise 1/64th of a tone. Unreal
we true pentaholics click you on to HEAR you pause. we hAVE ALLSEEN THE VIDEO HUNDREDS OF TIMES. SO NEVER (oops caps on, not screaming) apologize for pausing. I fell down this rabbit hole at the beginning of the pandemic and it has been a life savior. the great joy of the day is finding a new reactor to this fabulous group, and there are a lot of them, and out of respect for anyone that takes the time to react to them, I subscribe and like. Over the more than 2 years there have been hundreds of reactors, and since i have time on my hands I rank them in my mind. there are about 20 that i consider stellar, but you my friend have risen to the top like a meteor in the sky. . i can tell you are sincere and genuine, truly flabbergasted at their talent, when you add charasmatic, charming, animated, literate, smart , witty , musically knowledgeable, good-looking (yes I am sorry to say that does help) humorous, and infectious. I can't wait to watch the next one which I think should be IMAGINE. Please keep up the great work.
Their work ethic and need for every detail to be perfect after so many years is what amazes me. I mean, think how many individual artists and groups fell apart into a life of too many substances and fighting out their problems in the press. And here are these guys, a decade of videos and live performances around the world, still surprising us with their immense talent and flawless delivery.
Now that you’re listening to acapella groups, another group that’s a lot of fun is Home Free. For lots of fun watch their “Butts Medley”. I would probably say start with “Man of Constant Sorrow” first to their “Ring of Fire” that features Avi from Pentatonix. Some more Mitch favorites….don’t miss “The Prayer”. I am both a Pentaholic and a Home Fry! Glad you’re enjoying the ride! We are loving to watch you take it!
Oooh, if you're on a "getting too impressed by ptx" binge, you should listen to Scott covering "I should tell your mama on you" and immediately after listen to his song Lose Us with Rozzi!
Great reaction - there are so many incredible Pentatonix songs to choose from - but if you love Mitch's voice - AHA live in Singapore is incredible. Come Along is really great too (honestly tho - you could pick any one of their songs and it will blow your mind lol)
Pentatonix has done "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. They collaborated with a dancing violinist, Lindsey Sterling. When they collaborate with her, then Kevin, the beatboxer will play his Cello. So not A Capella, but awesome anyways.
My recommendations: Sugar plum fairy: never except classical music to sound so interesting. Can you feel the love tonight: just incredible. Defying gravity - superfruit (mitch and scott): they did it for fun and it's the best to show their talent.
Actually, I prefer the Frozen performance by Super Fruit feat. Kirstin Maldonado.... and always watch Super Fruit through the credits because they sometimes put bloopers on the end that are incredible.
12:38 Absolutely. Each hit is moving and powerful, and since I grew up in and around the 90s, one of their best hit me so hard from the thumbnail and title alone. I got Mitch slapped in the best way so hard, just in my imagination, that it took me a few months to prepare myself to indulge in that one. That was before I knew that if they’re attempting a song, they do it justice, no matter how iconic. The name of that song was “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” Their 90s Dance Medley also brought on waves on nostalgia, and like every song I’ve heard from them so far, kicks ass.
My fave part about this dude is that he's such a Mitch fan. Because that's the appropriate reaction to Mitch's voice. Also the appropriate reaction to Avi's, though. And Kevin's beat. Oh, and Kirstin's strength and accuracy. And Scott's, actually. And Matt's versatility (oh, wait! Avi was versatile too!). Never mind. They're all amaze-balls.
Listen Pentatonix 8s almost a spiritual experience. Carol of Bells is the first one I started listening uninterruptedly! After that Sound of Silence and Amazing Grace. You keep reacting to them I keep following you!
Kevin, the black guy, is a very talented beat boxer, vocalist, and chello player. Avi is from California, USA. He left the group in 2017. He's now done a few albums on his own❤❤❤
I am loving your discovery of this group. Many are suggesting "Sound of Silence" next, which is great. You really can't make a wrong choice. For something fun, that has less chance of copyright issues, there is a PTX tiktok compilation video that is just them singing on the fly. And the behind the scenes video of recording their album "Evergreen" is also very interesting. As always, have fun!
Mitch's voice is indeed one of the amazing things about Pentatonix. He's a phenom. Scott, Mitch and KIrsta have been singing together since grade-school. They dug up Avi Kaplan (original bass) and Kevin Olosula (the insane beat-boxer) when they wanted to compete on the Sing-off.
Yes, you are spot-on! PTX songs and videos are so amazing, so original, so harmonically layered, so unbelievably great that your brain has a hard time accepting what you have just seen and heard. They are perfectionists as performers, and those performances command that we have an unflinching appreciation, and complete absorption, of every note they present to us (the audience). I know I am biased, but in my humble opinion, there is no other band or group in music today that can elicit such emotions when listening to their music!

Sound of silence indeed pretty nice
They have such a variety. They did a whole series on "Evolution of...". Their collaboration with Dolly Parton- Jolene- won them a Grammy as did their version of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Other fans include their cover of "No" and their original "Love Again"
Yes they actually won a singing award for a song that has now words, AT ALL!
Their cover of Imagine actually brought tears to my eyes. It was so beautifully done!
If anyone complains about you pausing. I would probably tell them to f@#* off and just go watch the original video. 😁
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Exactly
1st time I was Mitch-slapped my mind immediately went to Freddie Mercury, and it wasn't even this song. Absolutely amazing.
All of them are mind-blowing, and Mitch is a sweetheart 😘
💯
Gotta watch Pentatonix "Wizard of ahhhs" 🤯🤯 It will blow your mind. They take modern songs to tell the story of wizard of oz!!
They are not just a group. they are family.
Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy was their second Grammy Award winner. An all instrument song done with just voices.
The sound of silence song cover they did is terrific as well
I love watching people’s reaction to Mitch. They usually end up in his range anyway just out of excitement 😋
You can't go wrong with these guys. My favorite acapella group of all time!
Freddy Mercury SCREAMING from his grave "YEEEESSSSS SING IIITTTT!!!!"
I've been to several of the concerts and YES they really do sound like this and YES I get the joy joy joy rush too
Your expression at the 'guitar' solo by Mitch was priceless! Glad you enjoyed it!
Their vocalisation moves me to tears with almost all the music they do. It's what I imagine a choir of angels would possibly sound like.
The first song we heard them sing was "Mary did you know". We were enthralled. Awesome group of singers!
Yes. One of my favs
Also, don't miss "Imagine" .
Your enthusiasm is so infections and I agree with everything you said. Phenomenal! Their cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine” would be a good one to do next. Thanks for posting.
I fully agree
Agree with “Imagine” next. Think whimpering puddle in the best possible way.
I agree!! Imagine is one he should do next!! He may need some tissues though!!
I love how you get so excited but then total fall into the video but then freak out again!
You definitely have to check out their “90’s Dance Medley” next.
Yes! I have been obsessively listening to that one for days now, and I am still not over how amazing it is.
Sound of Silence or Come Along - said it before, will say it again: they show two very different sides of the group, but are both amazing
Will make sure to check both out! ❤️
yes! come along! never see it requested enough for what it's worth!
Also carol of the bells
"Mary Did You Know" is amazing too.
Sugar Plum Fairy for a great Mitch high note. Or youtube video "aha pentatonix singapore the star vista".. that specific video where Mitch really gets into it.
Little Drummer Boy is my favorite ❤
The clarity of the vocals, the precision of the bell tones…they are amazing. And there is so much more to hear from them. Don’t stop now!
And another Pentaholic is born.
I love seeing your face everytime Mitch opens his mouth 😂😂😂 his voice is absolutely insane
You should really check out 'Mary did you know', 'La la latch' , and ' Aha! live at the star vista singapore' by them. These are my personal favourites but i think you'll enjoy them as much as i did too. Much love to you and your channel, you are amazing !
I'm not sure he'd survive Aha yet! 😂
I second Mary, Did You Know?
I second la la latch too-dont see it requested enough for what it's worth, imo
I love all their songs, and you have to check them all out because they're all so different. "Mary did you know" and all of their Christmas songs are amazing also....
They have a behind-the-scenes video of the making of their 2021 Christmas album, Evergreen. It shows us how they work on each song, how they work together, how they choose what the sound is going to be. It's fascinating and also can help your brain believe that it's really just them :D
His reactions are such a blast to watch!
I can’t wait to see u react to Aha Singapore, but I don’t think ur mentally ready for that yet 😂 I love your reactions there just so fun to watch
Yes! Please, please read the dedication in the description box before watching, as well.
It’s INCREDIBLE. Always touches me when I hear it. SO GOOD!!! 💛xo
YES ! It's amazing !!!
Sound of silence! Sound of Silence! sound of silence!!!!
Please react to their Sound of Silence next, it's mindblowingly beautiful!
If you truly love Mitch's voice, you have to hear their cover of "The Prayer". Mitch is outstanding!
Lindsey Stirling
Yes! This is one of their best w Avi
Scott, Kirstie, and Mitch have been singing together since their school days in Texas.
Pentatonix- Must React To:
Can't Hold Us
The Prayer
90s Medley
Kevin Olusola-(Pentatonix beatboxer) Down
You are spot on about your brain not being able to comprehend what your ears hear and eyes see.
Mitch shines in GOLD and his solo of YOUR POWER is just killer.
So many great songs to hear! 🤣
Recommendation: Can't Hold Us.
I love seeing the pure joy on your face and hearing the excitement in your voice! Your reactions always have me smiling or grinning. 🎶💕🦋
Unreal
To see what Mitch and Scott can do, check out "The Prayer", also other good ones Sound of Silence, Favorite Things, and Mary Did you know
we true pentaholics click you on to HEAR you pause. we hAVE ALLSEEN THE VIDEO HUNDREDS OF TIMES.
I absolutely love your reactions and how honest your reactions are.
You comment on their smiles, I think part of that is they know exactly how talented they are. That smile is the product of a master of the craft.
"They look like they're having so much fun doing the videos!"
Oh, boy. Who's going to tell him about Superfruit? 🙂
Great reaction. PTX has a huge catalog...pick a song you know & like and you can't go wrong! They're ALL so good. Subscribed for more PTX!
I was like that about Mitch, but this morning I watched a video of Avi doing overtones, and damn son 👀👀👀
No one can beat Avi on his overtones or his resonance.
To my ears, he was the king of the group vocally.
Oooh, if you're on a "getting too impressed by ptx" binge, you should listen to Scott covering "I should tell your mama on you" and immediately after listen to his song Lose Us with Rozzi!
Actively watching you become a pentaholic in real time has become my new favorite hobby. Your reactions are so genuine and heartfelt. Thank you!
My recommendations:
Sugar plum fairy: never except classical music to sound so interesting.
@@gingerjohnson1095 let it go is also great! Yes, especially hip hop goes broadway part 1&2 with bloopers in the end are just masterpieces.
Such a great reaction! And yes, I'm always baffled as well over them. I highly recommend their cover of The Sound of Silence 💕
❤️❤️❤️
Always got goosbum when i listen to them. And my favorite Pentatonix is the sound of silence . Love watching to your video réaction 🇨🇵
