There are three top a cappella groups in the reactors' world - Pentatonix is one of them. The others are Home Free and Voiceplay. They all have their own style and are great in different ways. Please add the other two groups to your list (not to rank or compare them, but enjoy all three). Really enjoyed your enthusiasm for the discovery, we'll enjoy following the journey. For a more traditional singing style and larger group, Voctave does excellent work too. They have all been lifelines to many of us through the past couple of years.

Why stop at 3 Say 20. Since the difference between Pentatonix and the second is bigger than the difference between the 2nd and the 20th. Sorry but Pentatonix are in a class of their own. No disrespect. I'm not talking about quality since that's subjective and if you like Homefree and Voiceplay in the same way i totally understand and respect that. But international stars and small bands can't be put in a top 3 as if they somehow rank close to each other.

Pentatonix has 10 years of songs for you to explore and I can confidently say that you can pick any song and it'll be great. They're probably best known for their seven Christmas albums, with originals and creative takes on standard holiday songs. They also do covers of pop songs from a variety of decades and styles, from 40's swing to Motown to K-pop, and "Evolutions" and medleys that combine dozens of songs into a 4-minute track. They also have two albums of original songs, with all group members contributing songs in their own style. And most of the group members have side projects and albums.

This was their first music video! They recorded the song and the video on Kevin and Avi's apartment. They spent $400 on the video and they won a Grammy!
If you want to see Mitch's range, check out PTX doing A Ha live at the Star Vista in Singapore (Avi blew out the speakers with an "omfg how low is that???" note at the beginning, then Mitch proceeds to go completely off the chain. It's from a fan's phone, and they're an absolute legend for getting this once in a lifetime performance and uploading it!
There's also Superfruit, which is Mitch's and Scott's side project. Their cover of Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked is just crazy (and shows off Scott's higher range too!). And with Superfruit, you always have to watch to the end, because there's bloopers (if you want to see them be complete goofballs, the Yoga Challenge video is just off the charts hilarity and Mitch over sharing a wee bit). They also have original songs, that are so much fun!

If you like Mitch, Carol of Bells is known as the song where Mitch doesn't breath. Aha! Live at star vista Singapore is another good of Mitch.
Some other great music videos are Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence, Mad World, Imagine.
What you should really do is watch all of their Sing Off performances from 10 years ago when they first got together. Every one of them is Live and shows how talented they were in the very beginning.

To perfect this sound, Mitch and Kirstie admitted in an interview that they have many, many days that are 12+ hours long. That was a huge factor in their choice of a bass to replace Avi. They needed someone who was familiar with acapella, and the amount of work that sound takes. Matt Sallee had just graduated with his degree in vocal performance from the Berkelee College of Music in Boston. He had years experience with acapella. And he’s done great since he joined the group in late 2017. And by the way, they made this video in a kitchen closet for $400!

Mitch is the guy with the very high voice, you’ll continue to be amazed by him (all of them, but especially him), Scott is the tall blonde, baritone. Kirstie is the girl (that’s how she used to refer to herself, she’s a lot more than that obviously) she’s the soprano. Kevin is the amazing beat boxer (arguably the most talented, he can cello box, sing, play drums, piano, rap etc..) Avi (Ah Vee) is the bass, he left the group in 2017 (under the best, most amicable circumstances, he creates also solo music) Matt is the new bass since 2018, he has a different bass voice, but he’s absolutely amazing, has a perfect smooth singing voice and he is the most joyful individual ever, he’s a great addition to the group. Second, they did this without ANY special effects, auto tune, or instruments. Not only that, but they recorded and edited on an iPad in their closet and kitchen for like $400. Third, their is another video of them performing this live with nothing more than a couple microphones in a hotel conference room for a handful of VIP fans. They pride themselves on being able to perform all of their music live and completely acapella. Lastly, they actually won their first Grammy for this remix of several Daft Punk songs. I'll help you out.
So you can wrap your head around it, in the video at 4:31 where they are all in separate boxes, they are, in order:
Scott (white hair/eyebrows)-- Mitch (brown short hair) -- Kirstin (face makup/blue wig) -- Avi (moustache/goatee) -- Kevin (black eye visor).
I hope you watched to the very end of the video when they saiy "HEY!" They are, from left to right:
    1. Mitch Grassi (tenor lead and backing vocals) in the teal shirt with black stripes (back row)
    2. Avi Kaplan (vocal bass, vocal percussion, bass lead and backing vocals) in the black button-up shirt wearing the hat (front row)
    3. Scott Hoying (baritone lead and backing vocals) in the black V-neck shirt (back row)
    4. Kevin Olusola (vocal percussion, beatboxing, backing vocals) in the brown collared shirt wearing a necklace (front row)
    5. Kirstin Maldonado (soprano lead and backing vocals) in the black tank-top wearing earrings (also, the ONLY GIRL)
In September 2017, Avi Kaplan, the group’s original bass, left the group amicably and was replaced by Matt Sallee (not pictured here).
Pentatonix have won three Grammy Awards: they were the first a cappella act to win Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella, doing so in 2015 and 2016,[17] and Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2017.
So now you see them in makeup and costume and what they look like in real life. Those ARE their REAL VOICES, the singing style with voices ONLY, no instruments is called "a cappella", and they are all friends with 3 originally from Arlington, TX.

Um, they have done imagine dragons. .
Just to let you know, PTX occasionally uses instruments. If they do, it's front and center. They do a lot of different genres. Rap, hip hop, Christmas, country, rock. Originals to blow your mind. If there's a Christmas song that you hate, check to see if PTX has a version. It's not Christmas without PTX and pentaholics listen to PTX Christmas music all year long. Enjoy the eargasms. Considering that you just got hit by the PTX 2x4.

Very well said! I love Christmas music but because I have been in choirs all my life there are certain songs that i struggle to enjoy because of overexposure... yet ptx has made versions that i adore of those songs. I think my fav Christmas song of theirs is their silent night in the church. It is so amazing and moving and i love all versions of silent night but theirs is beyond amazing.

But I’ll say again, you need to watch Mitch(the guy with the voice you like!) and Scott doing a fun & beautifully sung live version of the song “Defying Gravity”! You’ll know it by the bad green face paint and witches hat on Mitch..and the blonde wig on Scott.😆 But the vocals will literally blow your mind! Their beatboxer. Kevin Olusola, is called "the human 808". He is immensely talented, and smart! He gave up a medical school program at Yale to join PTX. His solo work will drop your jaw. He uses a looper, makes an electric cello sound like a hard rock guitar, plays keyboard, and sings in multiple voices, making a song sound like a full band...all by himself. Check out his cover of "Down", by Marian Hill. Oh, and he speaks 5 languages, including Chinese.
All 5 of them are unique, vastly talented, and genuinely nice people.
This video was filmed in a closet in an apartment, and recorded in the kitchen of the same apartment when the venue they had booked fell through. It cost just over $400 to make.
You can't go wrong with any of their vast catalog.

I got teary eyed just watching you feel what I felt every moment they sing. I just wanted to give you a hug because you look so moved and lost at the same time. It's 7 songs by Daft Punk, the French EDM duo (recently retired), put together in a DJ style mix.
They did an original EDM song : Love Again.
In terms of crazy/impossible, they did a version of Bohemian Rhapsody that was recommended by Brian May.
Do you like Imagine Dragons? Try Radioactive. They got some help from a dancing violinist.
Their Havana has excellent atmosphere so you just get sucked into the mood.
Lots more. When Christmas comes around again, they have 4 or 5 albums of that. Some traditional, some modern, some originals.
Just for fun and to get your mood jump started, their original "Sing!" is so much fun. Watch for the cameos.

I sincerely love PTX, and it’s more than their unparalleled vocal abilities.
First, I like that they consider themselves a band whose ethos is to give their fans real (unprocessed) music from the studio and on stage.
Then, no bad words or songs that offend anyone.
Lastly, when thanking their fans from stage the frequently tear up.
They are the embodiment of what’s good with humanity.

I'm so glad you've enjoyed Pentatonix sound! This featured a medley of the band Daft Punk's biggest hits in a futuristic groove you can't possibly ignore. They started off in my country, USA, on an a cappella competition called "The Sing-Off"; they themselves being a collection of singers, musicians, & overall homebodies trying- no, succeeding in 'making it big'. I find it fun you thought of Imagination Dragons with this group because they did a cover of Imagination Dragons' song "Radioactive" & feature violin artist Lindsey Sterling in their video- a very apocalyptic take on the feature, plus you get to see some of Kevin's roots (he was your beatbox extraordinaire) in sound AND cello!
I know they have done some original work, mostly on their separately released albums, though their unique approach to 'remixing a cappella' is enough to be original in my book, so take that as you will. Another couple of recommendations I would suggest are: "Video Killed the Radio Star" which they performed on the competition The Sing-Off, which really planted them on the map of creative minds... & their take on "Somebody That I Used To Know"- a more direct approach to their covers & the versatility shown in each of their members.
Side fact: first time viewer, will not be the last- I love seeing your excitement. Point blank, a first reaction never gets old & it doesn't matter how soon or late something comes out; when it's this good, it's timeless.
