Great advice and also if you see a dog coming your way you can try and distract her. I got a click -r and my dog responds to it and calms down. X. You are doing a great job xx❤
Be stern with a deep voice. The mother disciplines her pups with growls. I found that’s a good attention-getter for dogs. It’s something they understand. Higher voices when they’re good…lower when they’re not. It worked on our dachshund!
OK--here's my experience with a reactive, rescued dog. Fear aggressive of ALL dogs--a nightmare on walks, until...I hired a dog trainer for an afternoon, who had her extremely well-trained BIG dog with her. That dog didn't react to my Isla in any way, just stayed calm. (Also learned how to hold a leash LOL) Problem solved from then on. Like magic. Thank you for taking such good care with dear Bonny. You will get there. Bless.
As some guy on the Internet, I’d take this with a pinch of salt. When we were training our dog he was aggressive af with larger dogs only when on a leash. The trouble with that is finding out the hard way that’s not the issue. We tried him off with a friends dog and he got loads better. She’s landed lucky with her new life though, looks well happy 👍
You are exactly right when you said Bonny is being protective. Her coming out of her shell is a good thing and being female she feels that she needs to protect the pack. She will settle down when she understands there’s no threat. She still needs more time to adjust to her new environment and you are treating her so good. Don’t be afraid to talk to her sternly when her behavior warrants it. You have to let her know you’re the leader of the pack. Still love the way you maintain your boat. 🐶
Back Cabin. Tonight I joined in with a big dram of Laphroiag single malt Scotch. Bonny is gradually .earning. Keep at it patiently. I learned something I did not know about, how to use treats to get a dog to 'touch paws'.
Heidi hello from Australia. When I was a new dog owner I was given a really good tip about dealing with nervous dogs facing a larger dog. It was the owner should get in front of their dog and make themselves big thus telling their dog they were in charge. Then if the larger dog actually approached you could shepherd them away without raising the temperature. Remember that as Bonnie is on a lead she cannot run away which can increase her nervousness.. Nicola
Hi Heidi, I am Zip from Hagersville Ontario Canada and we talked about Tom and I know exactly where you are coming from. But I was not fim enough with Tom and with him 135 pounds for the past two years, he is two now. It would have been better for him and me if I had been more firm with him and loves me doesn't hold it against me I have to be firm with him. Just like a child, in fact all of us we have to know boundaries, so does dear sweet Bonny. And I totally agree she is of the mind set with big dogs I will get you before you get me ,fear. What you could do is sit with Bonny from a very comfortable distance from a big dog and talk to her play with her. She will still be aware the big dog is there but by interacting normally with her, she may become a more comfortable. And you doing amazing job raising your fur baby. Zip from Hagersville Ontario Canada 🇨🇦. Sorry it was so long. I just wanted to help if I could
Thank you and yes we do try to be at a distance and treat her but on the narrow towpaths she launches and almost knocks the dogs over 😂😂😂 hopefully we will get there soon - thank you 😃
@TheNarrowboatPirate Maybe when are on the narrow pathways and you see a big dog, slowly and gently scoop her up and tell that is safe so doesn't need to be scared and just walk by the big dog and say hi to the owners of the dog. It is just what will work Bonny .I hope that best for Bonny and I totally agree with seeing a behavioral specialist and can't wait for their input.
Heidi, you are wonderful. I love your channel. I own the male version of Bonny, and I’m here to tell you that leash aggression is quintessential French Bulldog behaviour. My little man is Adolf Hitler when he’s behind a fence or if there is any tension on his leash. When neither of these restraints exist, he’s a proper little gentleman. I suggest 2 things, but know first that she’s not really aggressive, it’s just fun to start shit. The hardest part of this exercise is controlling yourself. If you are tense, she will know😊 1. Find a nice old big dog and with its owners consent, 2 Let her approach on her retractable leash with ZERO tension on her leash. All will be well. She is beautiful, as are you.
I am so proud of you for spending so much time and effort to acclimate Bonnie to the world. You and she both will be happier for having done so. Good luck Heidi.
Hi Heidi, we also have a small and reactive dog. She's trying to protect you, that's why she's in front of you. Keep her on a short lead and behind you and she'll come to realise you're the protector, not her xx
Hi me lil Piratical Darlin,Bonny and you and are getting along like a house on fire ,she is so responsive now and ,you never stop smiling.......and me too., Lovely vlog Heidi dear ,I hope your weather stays good and you can continue with lots of dogwaks together.Take care of the both of you . See you next time, good luck with your DJ nights, Bye for now luvz ya both lots andLots. XXXX
Really enjoyed watching your progress with Bonnie, Heidi. I adopted my own Bulgarian Rescue, Chip, 7 weeks ago and we’ve had similar experiences of fear aggression developing with larger dogs. Hd my first session with my behaviourist last week, who quickly realised Chip is extremely food motivated and used that to our advantage. Turns out saying his name and shovelling small treats into his mouth is more appealing than barking and lunging at the big dogs! Anyway, I’m sure your behaviourist will figure out the best route for Bonnie, but both me and Chip are watching on and rooting for you!👍
Aww, lovely Bonnie. When we adopted our Spud (half pug/half potato) he used to have a go at everything. My partner would fret and gather him up on the lead and get stressed and consequently Spud was worse. I have a well socialised Jack Russell and that helped a bit but luckily I have a dog walker friend and she has 5 bombproof dogs so we took them & Spud out and just stood and chatted for an hour. After a while when Spud was bored sh*less we let him off lead quietly and that helped massively and they just had a bum sniff (the dogs, not my mate 😉) and all was fine. When we met other dogs we distracted him with ball/treats and after a few weeks he was 99% cured. Now he’s relaxed, my other half is relaxed and it’s not a chore taking him out. Good luck. 😊
Hi Heidi, I have a Labrador, 2 years old. She’s so loving and joyful but she became dog challenging in the last few months. I tried all sorts but eventually resorted to a professional dog trainer. She was amazing and made a big difference. I watched you tube videos and read books but seeing it in action worked well, a lot of it was around the way I worked with her. She is fear reactive and not a very confident dog. Bonny is beautiful. I was the same. I want my Poppy to love life to the full too. She is getting happier and you can see the difference. Love your videos, we bought a little narrowboat too, you were one of the inspirational you tubers. Xx
bryanbadger6841 is so right with his comment! As someone who has had 5 rescues each with their own difficulties you have to be very stern till Bonny gets it. Seems harsh at first but it will only take a couple of those. She will learn quickly that your not to be messed with when you say NO! As always Heidi wishing you and Bonny all the best. Deb
Very much enjoyed the video, thanks! So glad the GoPro survived its dunking. I'm also glad you're going to see a behaviorist for Bonnie. My corgi boy Trav went nuts over big dogs. I think it was him protecting his girls (me and corgi Emma). I tried different things over the years, but nothing ever helped. I hope you can overcome! One thing I might suggest, kindly, is trimming Bonnie's toenails. They do look long. When they're long they can cause the feet to splay when walking which can lead to tendon and ligament issues. If you're not comfy doing it yourself, you can have a Vet do it. Just don't cut the quick! They never forget. Ask me how I know...
Another lovely vlog. Lo❤'ve you guys. Have a lovely time. See you next week. 118 degrees here in the Sonoran desert. We are expecting monsoon monsoon any time soon.Everywhere becomes a ghost town so we all RIP in shade out of the heat. We like Bonney lose our social skills and become pirates on survival mode. ❤ from Arizona 🇺🇸.
My dog, who just wants to say hello to every dog he sees 😍, is very fond of treats and when he hears the crackle of the plastic of the typical supermarket treat bag he knows something is afoot. So I used that as an attention getter when I saw another dog approaching and he got his treat if he was a "good boy" passing the other dog and sometimes even if he wasn't. 💡 Obviously this only works with food centred dogs and once they are calm enough not to forget that there may be a treat coming but it may be another tool in the box, if you'll pardon the phrase. 🤣
Thanks Lovely Heidi, it's great to see that little Bonny is getting better at adjusting to a more normal life and to boat life with you. It's all down to you, so well done and yes Bonny is the perfect first mate Pirate Dog. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Oh Heidi , I came upon your videos by accident and now I'm total hooked . I just love your free spirit and how much you've added little Bonny to your great adventures keep up the great entertainment of videos ❤🐶
Wow! What a difference a week or so makes! Bonny's doing really well under your tuition, and I love the "paw" you've taught her 😍 I think the others have it right about her reactive behaviour - it's partly fear and partly protective, - once she works out that not every big dog will try and hurt the pair of you, she'll be an even better little 1st Mate for the good ship Rum Wench! Good to see you both looking so happy together, surely a match made in heaven! Richard x
You and Bonny are so lovely, you're doing everything right and I'm sure with the behaviourists help it will all work out. Thanks for the fantastic vlogs 💖
I have no clue about training dogs. But in the correct spirit of RUclips, ignorance won't stop me from adding my three hapenth. I heard that pulling back on the lead makes the dog feel vulnerable and scared because they feel that whatever you are pulling them back from is dangerous. Instead check with the other dog owner and if they agree, walk over to the other dog. That I hear lets you dog realize that the other dog is not a threat. I wonder if holding Bonnie back is like someone pulling you away from a conflict. Anyway so nice to see you, Bonnie and your friends living a lovely lifestyle on the water.
Hello Heidi, You ae doing well with Bonny, she will settle gradually. Remember Pirate Ships were not built in a day! Perseverance is your watch word! Glad the camera survived the swim too! Be good (well fairly good anyway) John x
Heidi you have to be top dog or the dog takes over. Bonnie may have a bit of fear aggression with bigger dogs, I had a dog with similar problems, a behaviourist advised to use a small metal container put a few marbles in it, so when Bonnie barks rattle the container and it should distract her, when she stops barking reward her. Another method was to have a spray bottle with water and you squirt it on their head, seems crazy but it does help. You need a method to distract Bonnie to focus on you. I'm sure you will master it. 💚
I saw a sign today " Drinking rum before noon makes you a pirate not an alcoholic." and I thought of you. Loving your videos, best wishes from Cape Town.
We passed your boat today and all got very excited 😂 sadly we didn’t see you and Bonny or we would have said hello! You’re one of the loveliest people on here and we love seeing your new relationship with bonny it’s just beautiful 😍 what a lucky girl she is to have been rescued by such a wonderful human ❤
Bonny is not fearful of big dogs, she is protecting you from what she believes could be a threat. A fearful dog will bark and then find protection for themselves. A protective dog will bark and pull forward toward what they believe is a threat - this shows an alpha attitude. Find an owner of a large, well trained, dog and let her slowly interact with the large dog. She will gradually understand that they are not a threat to you or to her.
Fair play to you, recognizing fear as a prompt for behavior seems feasible. The socializing stage is a crucial one and learned early. Tricky to mend later . All the best.
Hi Heidi my uncle was a dog trainer and he always said to walk a small dog with a larger dog and after the walk they realise that they are no threat ive had this a few times snd it works and she could also be protecting you 😉. I think you are doing the right thing in getting advise. I dont think she will be long beford she is comfortable in any environment . Take care both of you and im looking forward to your next video 😊❤ Kind regards Heidi xx
Hope socialising goes well, my Heidi inspired Rottie is very social, but I, of course, have the opposite problem, people and smaller dogs are scared of him. I just keep him on a short lead and talk calmly to him, keeping him calm helps others. Buster is an oaf and being a large dog at about 19 months is very energetic and excitable, he had no food manners, no recall and the word 'NO' meant bog off dad, he was so bad that he would grab the food out of your hand or off your plate. He now waits for his dinner until Grace (Lab) gets hers, you can eat your dinner without fear that the next fork full is going to disappear before it reaches your mouth, leave a sandwich unattended while you go for a wee, and he has really good recall now, been hard work the last 4 weeks but worth it.
Just like a pet parent to arrange play dates for their "kids" --- ... she is definitely coming along bit by bit. She will calm even more as her body adjusts to being spayed and I know that you are not going to be an indulgent pet parent who tolerates misbehavior. You do have to be firm with Bonnie - establish control from the start and that will actually help Bonnie know that you will protect her and she is safe. You don't really know her past and she is still working on knowing you, gaining more and more trust in you, and learning where the boundaries lie. She is VERY smart so, like any really smart kid she is going to test the waters and challenge you a bit here and there to see where the boundaries lie. Thanks for saving a space on board for me this week ... I will definitely be hanging out with the two of you next Thursday. Argggggg!!!
My Levi, would love Bonny, he’s only ever known the boat and the towpath, loves plying ball 🏀 and with other dogs. We were at Tixall wide last year! Like it there!
Hello Heidi! Wishing you and your gorgeous Bonnie a wonderful life on the canals. She’s picking up fast and bonding with you nicely. You’re one happy pirate since Bonnie entered your life. Life is more meaningful now isn’t it..👩💼🏴☠️🐶🏴☠️💕
Had a rescue dog (I loved her!!!!). Took her to a behaviorist ... two things she said ... one, when I first come into the home, I let the dog lick my face which means I'm the alpha ... two, do NOT give her treats until she makes eye contact which also means I am the alpha. Other stuff too, including what you said about we humans need to learn how to talk dog, and act dog, since we may be part of the problem. I'm still behind in your vlogs. I'll catch up! :-) Woof!
Hi Heidi, great to see Bonny coming on so well, I have a very layed back greyhound which i am happy to let them meet if you fancy? I often find that letting them walk together works well because they copy each other sniffing. Simon xx
I have a little chihuahua called Chico he barks at any unfamiliar face or animal. He does this because he is frightened so I'm sure he does this hoping they will back off thinking he's a big lion and not a tiny dog. I calmly say "Chico they're friends" I've repeated this so much he now stops barking much quicker. It's not stopped the problem but by me calmly saying "Chico they're friends" he quietens down much quicker. I'm hoping one day he won't be as frightened and won't bark but as long as my calming command helps stop him worrying and it stops him barking I see this as progress. Good luck, she's a little darling and I'm sure she and you will be just fine x
@@TheNarrowboatPirate it's so easy to pick them up isn't it, we'd do that with a child and because we love them. I think some professional advice would be good but in the meantime keep trying to let her see your close by and she's safe and give extra praise when she is calmer but continue to install in her that what she's currently barking at isn't there to hurt her. What we have to be aware of is they don't think everyone are friends, hopefully no one ever attempts to get aboard your boat uninvited and in that instance you'd want her to bark and act accordingly. Keep doing what you're doing give her reassurance on the towpath and with professional advice on dog training hopefully I can learn more from you 😍 good luck Heidi and I'm so glad you're both enjoying life together.
An amazing life you are giving her now Heidi, she is doing great, how matched you both are 💕 just stop showing them chips!! 😍 Have a great week, love to you both, much love, Kay, Dave and Bubba 💕 x
Hi Heidi and Bonnie, I think you're doing an absolutely fantastic job with Bonnie! I would suggest that when you're on the towpath with Chico, let Bonnie off the lead too. I know you think that she may suddenly encounter a big(ger) dog but if she's off the lead she's more likely to copy Chico's reaction than feel the need to defend you (because she's on the lead) If you notice in the final clip of Bonnie on the lead by the bridge, barking at that big black retriever, the retriever wasn't on a lead and completely ignored Bonnie and if Bonnie wasn't either I don't think there would have been a standoff from Bonnie (Ooh argh! ☠️) I think you're scared of Bonnie being by big dogs, which Bonnie picks up on, not Bonnie, which is perfectly understandable because you love her so much😘🐕 If you choose to keep her on the lead in these situations, try Caesar Milan's method of giving her a treat of three, not all at once, as a distraction and keep doing this until her reactivity subsides. You and Bonnie really are doing remarkably well in such a short period of time! Keep up the fantastic work! Don't get despondent! Hope this helps. Pirate Dog Walker ☠️
Thank you, great advice here 😄 I do use treats a lot as a distraction … I am letting her off her lead more and more however she does leg it to big dogs and head butts them and barks in their face 😂😂 I’m scare one is going to turn round and attack her one day … hopefully the behaviourist will help too but the treats definitely keep her distracted 😄🏴☠️❤️
my friend and i are cruising from burton towards stoke from mon, we have 3 super friendly giant dogs, his girl grew up with 2 frenchies she would be perfect socialisation, well look out for you, craig and rich, Dabbler and Reflection
Great to see you and Bonny enjoying the sunshine 🌞 Bonny is really coming along, keep up the training and hard work it will all pay off in the end 😊 keep smiling, thank you for sharing ❤🌈
Almost met one of my heroes!!! Passed you moored up a little north of the Tixall wide (didn't know it was called that) over the weekend. Shouted ahoy but you were out. Never mind another time Heidi. Love the videos. Enjoy and good luck.
Thanks for the vlog Heidi !! Love them. Bonnie is so cute !! Lots of small dogs can be reactive to larger dogs, with patience and kindness I'm sure she will be just fine. In her little world she may be trying to protect you !! Xx
We have 2 rescue dogs. Definitely unknown history and a work in progress. Good luck with Bonny and please let us all know how her behavior training is going.❤
Sa glad dat Bonnie tis do'in sooo good,,, slowly she'll leave all those habits that are not the best behind as she learns how you both meld together 😽🍀 I get kinda giddy when I see that you've posted a new vlog✨😸❣️😺 please give her a BIG cuddle an kiss from "The Aunt from a land down unda" (Australia) ❤🇦🇺❣️🦘😺
I'm sure you've gotten tons of advice - but here's mine! I think you are 100% right that it is fear aggression as Bonnie doesn't do the same with small dogs. First, I'd really like to see you get rid of the retractable leash. When Bonnie is pulling forward and barking the only thing pulling back does is encourage her to pull harder. Short sharp jerks are much better. This gives Bonnie the opportunity to respond. It becomes her choice. As soon as she turns her head or hopefully comes back to you, reward, reward, reward. To stop the barking, the Positive Reward approach is to redirect. Ideally, I'd like to see you turn your back on the large dog, showing Bonnie there is nothing to worry about. Redirect her by, and here is where basic obedience is so important, getting her to sit, down, shake hands or whatever you have trained her to do. Reward her with a treat or praise or whatever you normally do as a reward. Repeat every time she reacts to a large dog (or anything else threatening. She'll soon learn to turn to you for reassurance rather than barking. You are already doing the right thing by socializing her as much as possible. Just keep in mind that dogs aren't great at generalizing and getting her OK with one large dog doesn't mean she'll be good with all large dogs. I'd find a non-reactive large dog to work with. I'd volunteer mine but we're on the Ashby at the moment. Have the big dog sit or preferably down and with a loose leash (did I mention I don't like retractable leashes?) walk Bonnie towards the large dog. Let her set the pace and determine how close she comes. Reward her steadily while approaching the large dog. Gee, this is good! I get treats every time I see a large dog! Patience, loose leash and don't force her and you'll come out good in the end. Did that sound rude? Don't be rude! :)
Hey Heidi, I know what you mean when it comes to lubing your box 😊. My lady June's engine is even older than yours. It has to be hand cranked to start it. Her boats engine was made in 1913 and has two cylinders. It's such a simple engine but it runs well and sounds lovely.
@@TheNarrowboatPirate June's is water cooled but it's an old motor. Her narrowboat has a wooden hull too. It's a really old boat but it's lovely. It used to be horse drawn until 1913 when it got its new fangled diesel engine. It was a two year job to restore the boat to a livable state. June bought it as a sail away and her dad helped with the renovations and restoration. It's named 'Whole in the Water'.
Dear lovely Rum Wench 👍👌👏 Oh WOW! I'm gobsmacked respectively blown away and definitely very impressed. Amongst all your other talents, you are a Disc Jockey additionally! I absolutely love music too. 2) The ditty was simply great. 3) You teach little Bonny well. She has definitely learned a lot. 4) Very nice to have friends like yours. Congratulations 🎉. I'm always happy to see people (and dogs) having fun together. By the way: There always come positive vibes with your appearance/videos. Again I smiled during the whole video. Thank you for being yourself. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all involved humans and animals.
@@TheNarrowboatPirate You're welcome, it's my pleasure. 2) With every video I watch, you are becoming a more interesting gal. At least in my opinion respectively for my personal kind of taste. The DJ work/fun makes you even more adorable. Or is it admirable? No, it's definitely both! ;-) Thanks for replying and especially for giving a heart to my comment. As mentioned I always and totally appreciate both very much. Sincerely yours.
Have you ever thought about using a car camera set up on the front of your boat ? That would give you a clear view out front of the boat for a 12V hook up.and a length of wire. handy for those long bends.
I don’t know anyone who has one to be honest … not sure if I could wire up as my boat is 57 foot long - much longer than a car so I know the wireless ones wouldn’t work 🤔 and i don’t want a big long wire running all around the inside of the walls
@@TheNarrowboatPirate I was thinking more along the lines of the cheap ones that come mounted in a rear view clip on mirror. They are cheap as chips and really easy to install, Mine as just plug into the fag lighter on the dash .
@@nigebkk yes someone did a video on one but due to all the steel and the boat being 60’foot it didn’t work from front to back 😩… to be honest once the front is at a bridge hole we can see anyway it’s just all the overgrown bushes that create problems 😄🏴☠️
Cracking grand that ditty! And I saw Rosie and Jim in Bonnie’s bed! Hey!! Good on ya getting some help with the barking at big uns…. Bonnie is looking great. Well done.
Another great vlog. I am surprised that the Stones has lasted so long (mind you, it is really a winter mixer). If you want to get any more the shop 'Savers' usually has it at the lowest price. Glad to see Bonny is coming on so well. Mum gets lamb bones from a friendly butcher to keep Boy's teeth clean. Last time I saw her I got a bag for £1. A lot cheaper than Dentastix, and you know what is in them (lamb bone!). For Bonny I would ask the butcher to cut them down to the size of a large new potato. I have found out the gatehouse at Tixall was used as a prison for Mary Queen of Scots in 1586 (according to Wikipedia). It is a lovely part of the world, and I have photos when Mum, Jay and I were there on an early morning, with gentle wisps of mist on the water.
Ahoy! Since making and editing this video, little Bonny has come on so much, each day that passes she is more and more confident and settling in to her new environment. She loves the outdoors and is becoming the perfect first mate!

If you are tense, she will know😊
1. Find a nice old big dog and with its owners consent,
2 Let her approach on her retractable leash with ZERO tension on her leash.
All will be well. She is beautiful, as are you.

I love the way geese always eyes boaters 😊😊 you should think they know by now
I am so proud of you for spending so much time and effort to acclimate Bonnie to the world. You and she both will be happier for having done so. Good luck Heidi.
Thank you ❤️😄🏴☠️
It is so sweet to see how much you and Bonny already love each other.
See you next time, good luck with your DJ nights,
Bye for now luvz ya both lots andLots.

Thanks Ralph, I hope you are both well xxx
You are right Heidi , she feels she needs to be leader ..you have to lead , think boss , relax and just be in control she will step back for you xx
Sat on the cut, supping n scoffing curried chips. Is there a "greener" word than envy Splendiferous !
Anyway, I’m sure your behaviourist will figure out the best route for Bonnie, but both me and Chip are watching on and rooting for you!👍
Thank you ❤️🏴☠️
Aww, lovely Bonnie.
Good luck. 😊
Thank you …. I’m hoping she will get there …. She comes across as really aggressive and she is tiny 😂😂
Xx
Aww brilliant, yes it’s fear aggression with Bonny too but I’m hoping we will get there slowly 😄🏴☠️
bryanbadger6841 is so right with his comment! As someone who has had 5 rescues each with their own difficulties you have to be very stern till Bonny gets it. Seems harsh at first but it will only take a couple of those. She will learn quickly that your not to be messed with when you say NO! As always Heidi wishing you and Bonny all the best. Deb
Thanks Deb 😃🏴☠️
Glad to see that Bonny is adjusting so well. I know that you will succeed in making her more comfortable. Be well and stay safe.
Ooh get yourselves in the shade 🏴☠️
Hey Heidi, well, that's about it, just hey! lol.... Take care and see ya next week. Oh, and thanks as always.
Didja saaay joggin' or dogging..... 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 j/k 🤩😍😘🥰
😂😂😂
My dog, who just wants to say hello to every dog he sees 😍, is very fond of treats and when he hears the crackle of the plastic of the typical supermarket treat bag he knows something is afoot. So I used that as an attention getter when I saw another dog approaching and he got his treat if he was a "good boy" passing the other dog and sometimes even if he wasn't. 💡 Obviously this only works with food centred dogs and once they are calm enough not to forget that there may be a treat coming but it may be another tool in the box, if you'll pardon the phrase. 🤣
That’s how we working at the moment … she is very treat driven 😂😂
Thanks Lovely Heidi, it's great to see that little Bonny is getting better at adjusting to a more normal life and to boat life with you. It's all down to you, so well done and yes Bonny is the perfect first mate Pirate Dog. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thanks Stevie 😃🏴☠️
Great with some canallore 😂🎉
😁
Oh Heidi , I came upon your videos by accident and now I'm total hooked . I just love your free spirit and how much you've added little Bonny to your great adventures keep up the great entertainment of videos ❤🐶
Aww thanks so much for watching 😄🏴☠️❤️
Wow! What a difference a week or so makes! Bonny's doing really well under your tuition, and I love the "paw" you've taught her 😍
I think the others have it right about her reactive behaviour - it's partly fear and partly protective, - once she works out that not every big dog will try and hurt the pair of you, she'll be an even better little 1st Mate for the good ship Rum Wench!
Good to see you both looking so happy together, surely a match made in heaven!
Richard x
Thank you so much!
You and Bonny are so lovely, you're doing everything right and I'm sure with the behaviourists help it will all work out. Thanks for the fantastic vlogs 💖
Thank you 😄🏴☠️
Reaction to other large dogs was the same for me. Us a special word like LOOK in attract your dog back to you and give a treat.
Lovely 🤪!!!! Heidi and Bonny Many Thanks for Brighting Ginger Dog and my Day !!!!
Much Love 😘!
Thank you 😄🏴☠️
You are such a great Mom to Bonny ❤️🏴☠️
“Motherhood” suites you well! Truly enjoy your channel.
Thank you! 😃🏴☠️
Thanks Sheila 😃❤️🏴☠️
So glad the gopro survived the dunking
I saw a sign today " Drinking rum before noon makes you a pirate not an alcoholic." and I thought of you. Loving your videos, best wishes from Cape Town.
😂😂 cheers
Nowt wrong with keeping your box lubricated 😃😃👍
We passed your boat today and all got very excited 😂 sadly we didn’t see you and Bonny or we would have said hello! You’re one of the loveliest people on here and we love seeing your new relationship with bonny it’s just beautiful 😍 what a lucky girl she is to have been rescued by such a wonderful human ❤
I went to visit my parents as it was my dads birthday 🎂😄🏴☠️ sorry I missed you
Little Bonny It's amazing how well she has taken to the new life.
You're going dogging 😃😃👍, loving you more 👍
😂😂
Bonny is so sweet. Good luck with the training of both of you. Ha…ha….😂
😂😂
Heidi your such a scream kid, your blog and little Bonny makes my day
Bonny is not fearful of big dogs, she is protecting you from what she believes could be a threat.
Heidi out with her mate going "dogging". After she had to get to her mooring while trying not to be "(over)taken roughly... From behind!"🤣😆🤭
😂😂😂
Lovely scenes from the river at dusk...many thanks x
Fair play to you, recognizing fear as a prompt for behavior seems feasible. The socializing stage is a crucial one and learned early. Tricky to mend later . All the best.
She’s got LDS just like my little Jack Russell. LDS = little dog syndrome. It actually very interesting to watch her act.
😂😂
Don't give up Bonny will learn it takes time.
I won’t - she is the most amazing, loving dog - she just needs to get socialised .. she is progressing every day ❤️
Hi Heidi my uncle was a dog trainer and he always said to walk a small dog with a larger dog and after the walk they realise that they are no threat ive had this a few times snd it works and she could also be protecting you 😉. I think you are doing the right thing in getting advise. I dont think she will be long beford she is comfortable in any environment .
Take care both of you and im looking forward to your next video 😊❤
Kind regards
Heidi xx
Thank you 😄🏴☠️
Hope socialising goes well, my Heidi inspired Rottie is very social, but I, of course, have the opposite problem, people and smaller dogs are scared of him.
Thank you I loved that ditty very clever! Bonnie is coming along nicely!
Argggggg!!!
Thank you ❤️😄🏴☠️
My Levi, would love Bonny, he’s only ever known the boat and the towpath, loves plying ball 🏀 and with other dogs. We were at Tixall wide last year! Like it there!
Thank you 😄🏴☠️
Thanks for the bit of history. The scene of the moon and shadows was beautiful. ❤😀🇦🇺
:-) Woof!
You are getting there Ann 😄🏴☠️
Hi Heidi, great to see Bonny coming on so well, I have a very layed back greyhound which i am happy to let them meet if you fancy? I often find that letting them walk together works well because they copy each other sniffing. Simon xx
Aww that be fab 😃🏴☠️
I’ll be in touch soon, we will arrange something soon xx
I do try to calm her and often pick her up which I know is the wrong thing … I’m hoping the behaviourist will help 😃🏴☠️❤️
Thank you 😃❤️🏴☠️
Great to see Bonny doing so well. Love the paw trick.
Beautiful spot there with the wide canal.
Thanks!

Thanksfor posting.
Thank you 😄🏴☠️
Hi Heidi .Thanks once again for a great video .Wee Bonnie seemed to now have her sea legs. She is going to be a great little pirate for you
She is gorgeous ❤️🏴☠️
Thanks for another fun video. I'm really enjoying watching Bonny
Thank you very much 😃🏴☠️
Hi Heidi and Bonnie, I think you're doing an absolutely fantastic job with Bonnie!
🌹Thank you very much for sharing be happy take care you 2 love lilo
Glad your camera is working. Bonnie is gorgeous I hope she gets better socially soon. X
Luv to see how well Bonnys doing😊

Almost met one of my heroes!!! Passed you moored up a little north of the Tixall wide (didn't know it was called that) over the weekend. Shouted ahoy but you were out. Never mind another time Heidi. Love the videos. Enjoy and good luck.

@@TheNarrowboatPirate You're welcome.

Lol Heidi tried Kracken the other day, after watching your clips. OMG WOW, I absolutely love it you have crated a monster lol. Wow that is nice
Cheers 😂😂
Brilliant - thank you 😄❤️🏴☠️
Looks like you have that magic touch, your camera still working.
Hey Heidi, I know what you mean when it comes to lubing your box 😊. My lady June's engine is even older than yours. It has to be hand cranked to start it. Her boats engine was made in 1913 and has two cylinders. It's such a simple engine but it runs well and sounds lovely.
Mine is 2 cylinders, aircooled 😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate June's is water cooled but it's an old motor. Her narrowboat has a wooden hull too. It's a really old boat but it's lovely. It used to be horse drawn until 1913 when it got its new fangled diesel engine. It was a two year job to restore the boat to a livable state. June bought it as a sail away and her dad helped with the renovations and restoration. It's named 'Whole in the Water'.
Amazing ❤️
Dear lovely Rum Wench

Oh wow I didn’t know that but that’s amazing ❤️😄🏴☠️
