    Fantastic video. I own a big rock and am already starting to experience the issues you mention, with only 7 battery packs through the truck. But $600....It's just too much to put into one of these things. There are so many other RCs at that price point that don't have these issues.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Год назад +2

      Sure thing. I have another video about this stuff.
      Not so sure about other rc’s not having issues. I think they all have issues but just different ones and you have to own them to really know because RUclipsrs aren’t going to tell you why not to buy something. They’ll all have affiliate links below trying to sell you something new every week. They know you love watching cars jump but not watching them repair it. Or simply toss it and get a new one.

      I think the Arrma 3s line is a decent value. I had to sink a lot of money into my 4X4 Stampede to make it reliable on 3s.
      Traxxas Maxx seems to come up quite often as the recommendation for a high value, durable truck.

    If you add more stuff in the future, could you hold the name of the products on the screen a little longer? If so, it helps when clicking back and forth for quick searches!
    I'm pretty much aligned with your thoughts on the big rock, but I'm a couple chapters behind. So thanks for everything!

      @@Funcentric I did! I know there's a lot of upgrades that are necessary. It looked like everyone is saying "upgrade as it breaks" 🤷‍♂️ so that's what I loosely planned on. The servo seems like a big one, but I really want to wait till it goes before replacing it. I've seen videos, but still not 100% confident in tearing open something that isn't broke yet...
      Plus it was hard to find one with 23teeth. There was a bit of negative feedback on the first one available on Amazon. Still not quite sure where people find parts for these things.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Год назад +1

      @@ransom8006 the reason for replacing the servo before it breaks is so that you’re not caught off guard and to reduce downtime. If you have other things to entertain yourself and drive the car locally, then you don’t really need a backup in hand.
      However if you drive out to meet folks to drive or this is your only rig and you’re super into rc, then it can be a big drag when the servo dies “unexpectedly”.

    Put some plastic weld or some putty or rubber under the front of the moter to keep the plate from bending. The moter flexes so the plate bends

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Год назад +1

      Yup, exactly. Yeah I tried the putty thing but my issue was that it was just a pain to remove and reapply every time I removed the motor or needed to change a pinion or spur. I had used the putty for putting up posters on walls. Dollar Tree has it in blue.

    Thank you. Though you don't advise it, the Big Rock seemed to be the best beginner car for me, so I got one. But I also don't mind spending money on my toys. It looks like the Typhon will be me next car, so I am following your path it seems. Your information will help me stay a step ahead. Thanks again. Question: when you say x many batteries to describe your run time, does that mean recharges? Or actually buying new batteries? And how long does one battery last? I am using the same brand of 5200s you're using.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Год назад

      I’m referring to charging the packs and running it in the car that many number is times. Basically the number of packs that has been used in the car. Run time is about 20 minutes ish. Depends on how aggressive and what terrain. I don’t run it that far down

    The slippers are just irredeemable on these. Especially at the current pricing it’s just unacceptable. Much better off with a hoss for less than making these truly 3s capable.
