DCI RUclipsr here, I’ve stood in front of countless DCI hornlines, both as a member and as a fan. BUT There is nothing like standing in front of a HBCU hornline…those bands do something that is just different. Those ripping mellos, blasting sousas, and screaming trumpets… INSANE.
I would say top aura for 2024 was CHANCE IS EVERYTHING by Bluecoats. If you haven’t see it, then watch it. That trumpet echo part literally puts tears in my eyes

I remember my freshman year (1993) at FAMU when Jukebox came to FAMU. the 5th was intense. I was in the M100 and we played every song in our book and the Jukebox was still going after we ran out of songs. It was my first time seeing The Human Jukebox in person and I was literally blown away (pun intended). Old school Southern was the unstoppable.
Honestly my brother, The Southern University's HUMAN JUKEBOX aka #GOAT 🐐 💙💛 🏆💪🏾 didn't play PERIOD!!! Dr. Isaac Greggs and his staff created a blueprint decades ahead of other bands that have adopted and profected their style and sound in today's social media age. Rest in power Doc and Mr. Knighten! 🙏🏽 Dr. Lawrence Jackson's brilliance along with his staff, expanded the Jukebox and continued their dominance! The young Jedi Knights, Haymer, Simmons, and Dr. Taylor (Big 3) hit the ground running with their dominance until Haymer and Simmons departure--what you young bandheads now call "Old Southern" 😅 youngsters today🤦🏾♂️but SU is still SU under Dr. Taylor, Kenneth Collins, and Cedric Todd! We just need more upper & lower brass like in 2014 to '19!!!

Uh sir I agree with about SU but which band was in OutKast’s Rosa Parks video, Drumline, performed with Peter Pablo, Lil Jon and the Eastside boys? Which band went Louisiana and waxed SU pointer👉🏾Morris Brown
my definition of AURA is........ when you see someone doing something that makes you feel cool IF YOU WERE IN THEIR PLACE. its an egotistical self-projection onto someone else's achievements we are never happy for THEM we're just full of good chemicals the moment we imagine ourSELVES in their place while THEY'RE the ones being cool in that moment which means.. AURA doesn't actually exist its more of a subjective achievement feeling and if its subjective in nature then objectively it doesn't exist like 'time'
I like how you gave the DCI bands love. They so slept on. A lot could be learned from them
They ain't slept on they more populat than other kinds of marching band
the thor's hammer sound in the beginning was absolutely insane

Back in the day? 🤔 When you say old Southern, the Southern I knew that was untouchable was 2002 SU. THAT band was the one.
