Next to walking or orbiting the moon, I would want a skylab mission the most. Despite all the technical challenges, it sure would seem like a lot of fun.
Very interesting interview with a lot of details that the average layman like myself never knew about. Captain Kerwin also explains things in a simple manner...Best wishes, Sir!
I am glad Deke got an even better flight than a Mercury mission. Now, if he had died during a Mercury mission............... that could have ended spaceflight.
They got out from under the Challenger accident said in 1999, but oops they did it again a few months later - The space station? Taught us you could spin a banana in zero g towards your mouth to eat it while Russians ,who we are currently at war with, dine in next door- Training for long duration trips to Mars? - The ISS has proven that after the months it would take to get there, Astronaughts will not even be able to walk for weeks after landing on Mars - After Space lab NASA should have designèd rotating centrifugal force gravity space ships built in orbit, with attached landers and food and fuel reserves landed or orbited at Mars in advance- Quite an Armada but after a minimum exploratory mission, perhaps a moon base could be built to construct even larger Armadas conserving fuel to launch larger ships and payloads from bases built on the moon under ground - Whatever, just get us to Mars like NASA promised us by 1984 - And beyond Mars theres that astroid belt with all its treasures in minerals, diamonds, gold - Unless of course that would be Claim Jumping due to some alien planet already owning our solar systems mineral rights - Afterall, we seem to be dragging our spaceboot heels on all this, begging the question of humanity having been confined to low earth orbit for any manned expeditions - PS - AI robots aren't going to do the job and any job they are built to do, our species may not enjoy very much.
What a sharp guy, to be able to relate that narrative so well after so many years.
The truth from a first person perspective is quite easy to remember.
Just brilliant. Lucid, real and engaging. Much respect for Dr Kerwin, his achievements, and his contributions to our world.
Dr. Kerwin also did a great job as capcom!
Thank you! Role model for Humility and Decency.

Great men, who knew the great America.
Do astronauts ever blink their eyes? Anyway, what a fantastic video. Enjoyed every second of it!

Wonder what happened to his rusty stethoscope?

Space stations teach us more than spinning bananas Why aren't you working for NASA if you are so much smarter? Oh yeah, you think STar wars is real.
