Just posting this cause I think a surprising amount of people don't know this, and it's an easy way to save a lot of money, as I believe every state has the same principle in the law: Can I be fined for driving through a yellow light? Yes. If you drive through a yellow light when you could have safely stopped prior to the intersection you are liable to be fined. The penalties for doing so in Victoria include the loss of three demerit points and up to 2.5 penalty units. For the 2022/2023 year, one penalty unit is equivalent to $184.92. This means you can be fined up to $462.30 for going through a yellow light. If you choose to dispute the fine in court and lose, up to ten penalty units can be applied, translating to a $1,849 fine. If you go through a yellow arrow, the penalty is doubled (that is, five penalty units can be deducted).
Totally, if it is safe to do so, you should stop for yellow, I always check my rear view then decide. Howeverrrr, I once was naughty and slowed down for a yellow turning left. Because I slowed down to make the turn from 60kph, my rear tyres did not cross the line and I got flashed! This was in sydney, $460 fine i think it was, and 2 demerit points.@@Ramroll_

Some of these drivers need to grow up imo thinking it’s real funny someone is getting pulled over by the police. Whenever I see it, I just drive past silently grateful that it’s not me. I’m not speeding, not drunk and not on my phone and never have been. No one suspects there’s going to be a Highway Patrol car cruising the streets to catch somebody out. I’m sorry but I can’t take some of these dash cam drivers seriously.
Same... I can't stand speed cameras or highway cops trying to be smart arses and hiding around bends or in bushes... but I love those motorbike cops targeting mobile phone use. And the mobile phone cameras seem to be pretty accurate too (which surprised me - I thought they'd be wrong more often than right). I wish we had more motorbike cops.
Not to piss on your confirmation bias cornflakes, but as the third largest city in Australia, what do you think the odds are of Brisbane *not* appearing in any such video?
Ive been driving for more than 17 years. I got tickets twice; one parked on the edge of a yellow lane and one parked close to a bus stop. Both times I wasn’t aware of 😅
I work on the road and we had just finished putting our reduce speed signs out when someone decided to speed through fast than the original speed and the new road work limit. He was quickly followed by an unmarked BMW 😂
@nunwrestling people are aware of this but practically it's not always possible Trucks that are long going 90 Other vehicles going 85 when you over take then end up speeding up to 105 for some reason as soon as you are half a car length in front of them You can't just do it on 100 when others make it impossible to do so and you are already committed to the overtake Yes speeding kills but so does oncoming traffic if you take 10 years to get past a truck
Also, the cop signalled, and the car blocked him, as the bike speed up, and slowed down, the car matched pace, effectively blocking the bike. It was not letting the police get in.
Looked to me like the cop was pissed that they were text-driving but might have gotten away with it. Im guessing they picked the phone back up so the 2nd cop pulled them.
7.28 if the dude that got pulled over in that clip finds this dashcam footage he will get off. It may be bad practice to go through a yellow. But his wheels were over the line before the light went red. Keep it up guys. We love the vids.
Its funny how so many people laugh at speeding drivers getting caught and say things like "Suck Sh!t" even though they probably speed themselves, and would tear up if they got a ticket.
It looks like the motorcycle cops thought they own the road and could just merge into a lane without indicating. But the driver chose to die on that hill and not let them through without a siren. An idiot, but respectable.
One of my ultimate pet peeves, where it makes my blood actually boil is when a vehicle does not know how to either move or stop for an emergency service vehicle ! Like what more do you possibly need to move? If you hear sirens and flashing lights and sometimes a freaking horn MOVE to your left, slow down to 40km/h and if a cop car is going slowly behind you it might actually mean its for you so where it is safe to do so park on the left. Also to all the people hating on coppers, if you dont do anything wrong you wont get a fine
In NSW, you only have to slow to 40 if the emergency vehicle is stopped on the side of the road (depending on the road speed limit): "When passing a stopped emergency vehicle with flashing blue or red lights: if the speed limit is 80km/h or less, you must slow down to 40km/h. if the speed limit is over 80km/h, you must slow down safely and move over. This includes changing lanes on a multi-lane road, if it's safe to do so.
What would you prefer? Being pulled over by a plod, or getting a letter in the mail 3 weeks after you've done something on the road? Personally, I'd prefer getting pulled over on the spot. At least you'd know immediately what you'd done wrong, and also you have a remote chance of talking yourself out of a ticket. A letter after 3 weeks does NOTHING to prevent chaos on the roads.
I got done twice in a year - both in spots that have low traffic, no pedestrians, and both in a transition zone from 60 to 80 (two different spots in Port Stephens NSW). It took weeks for the tickets to arrive so I had no idea I'd been done. But after getting them I'm now so damn careful. That was 15 years ago and never got another one. So they do work- maybe not on everyone. But what shits me about mobile speed cameras is they are almost always in places which don't really matter if people do a few ks over the limit. They're never in spots where say kids could be killed.
Absolutely heartwarming. Would love to see so many more of these videos. Would love it if all of the videos on the weekly wrap up had some pretty red and blue lights at the end of them.

7:21 I dunnoooo, 4 wheels crossed the line! I know he had plenty of time to stop though.
Just posting this cause I think a surprising amount of people don't know this, and it's an easy way to save a lot of money, as I believe every state has the same principle in the law:
Can I be fined for driving through a yellow light?
@@Ramroll_well then, I knew that you could be fined for not stopping at a yellow when it genuinely is safe

Tesla safety cams all look like that as they are designed for the computer to analyse the road first.
Joy to my heart, especially the flogs getting $1000 fines for being on there phones, makes my day 😆
Same... I can't stand speed cameras or highway cops trying to be smart arses and hiding around bends or in bushes... but I love those motorbike cops targeting mobile phone use. I can't really understand what's going on. Was the car trying to deliberately pace the cop to stop him from changing lanes or what?

It was lovely to hear the older ladies call the policeman police rather than cops.
is it not legal to overtake on broken lines? or was it cause they were speeding?
Wondering that myself.
It'd be speed achieved and clearance from oncoming vehicles, providing the line breaks permitted crossing at the given moment
Yea overtaking still has to be within the posted speed limit. I feel like many people aren't aware of this
@@nunwrestling Right! Although most people do anyway, it is illegal to overtake faster than the speed limit
@nunwrestling people are aware of this but practically it's not always possible
Trucks that are long going 90
Other vehicles going 85 when you over take then end up speeding up to 105 for some reason as soon as you are half a car length in front of them
You can't just do it on 100 when others make it impossible to do so and you are already committed to the overtake
Yes speeding kills but so does oncoming traffic if you take 10 years to get past a truck

On the phone
100% on their phone.
hwp was pissed off because they STILL hadn't seen them and/or pulled over. as a motorbike commuter, very familiar with this lol.

@@PublicVoidFoo Yeah, you can be in the right but it won`t help you :(
surely there has to be nothing worse than people laughing in your face as you get pulled over hahahah
Don’t celebrate ppl getting done for going 5-10kmh over Australia’s absurdly low speed limits. The traffic laws here are an embarrassment
Morons who freeze in the middle of the road instead of stopping where safe should have their license taken. 10:15
In Australia...
the Green light mean 'Go!',
the Yellow light means 'Hurry up, mate!',
and the Red light is just a 'suggestion' to stop :))
If you stick to the road rules you get neither.
