Thus far the best video on the Hubad drill I have seen after closely examining many different places for a clear and concise demonstration set. Thank you for the information and guide. Respect, BK
Tyus, great point! It really depends on whether the initial contact is passive (a static block, fixed in space) or if it is doing something else. If you are entering or destroying for instance it is much less of a "bad hand" than a traditional knifehand block. There is always a chance however, no matter how well trained that we will need to use a standard blocking cover until we can transition to something else. This movement can represent that as well.
I highly recommend Progressive Martial Arts in Queens. Guro Nick Sacoulas is a full instructor in Sayoc Kali and a longtime instructor under Guro Dan Inosanto as well. His Panantukan is excellent.
Joseph Marana guru Nick is amazing...I met him at the GM attilo balintawak and inosanto seminar in queens. his jkd is top shelf and also ray longo here in long island is another phenom who I trained under in the early 90s.
Very interesting I train in Tang Lang Kung Fu and we have similar technique but slightly different. We enter as an eye poke and the secondary move you do where you come underneath and clear his hand away @4:08 but we can either trap and strike or qin na/joint lock depending on the situation. The slight difference is that we "stick" to the opponent so we don't parry away and lose contact. I just wanted to share because I thought that it was cool that there was a similarities because I've wanted to learn Panantukan because it has some principles and techniques that my art doesn't have like the limb destruction or at least as far as I can tell and this only proves in my mind that this is an art that I need to learn.
one can put a foot in front of a door to wedge it and it works pretty well...but if the force is great the wedge wont hold or maybe your foot will be crushed. I studied under paul vunak and my uncle was european director in pekiti tirsia kali...so i do know some concepts. Thank you for the video. About weapons i only know one thing : Weapons are deadly - but they are not organic. To master something and defend against something that can have any shape and material is for myself a waste of time.
Nice vid. A non martial arts comment...the U.S Flag is hanging incorrectly. The stars should always be located in the upper left corner regardless of it hanging horizontally or vertically. It is a common mistake.
in ilongo "higot" - means (noun) a sting, a rope. ( verve) to tie with a rope or a string in ilongo "hubad"- means to untie in tagalog "hubad" means to undress in ilongo "lubad" -means to escape or to get out from a submission hold or choke
..the success of the wedge maneuver depends largely on being able to match the incoming force...this technique wont work for someone weaker but does have validity if the power projection of both parties are similar.
Thank you for this tutorial, i like the "wedge" style more agressive counter to the angle 1 vs. somekind of bad "bongsao" you find in many other video tutorials throughout youtube...now just for the fun never thought about reversing the role? what if the wedge (eye-jab) initiates the attack and the angle 1 is a defense move?
I always have a hard time with this particular version of hubad because it just seems like "bad handing" one of the first things you learn in Sayoc not to do. The other versions I use but this one I just can't do it. What's your view?
Como los filipinos olvidaron rápido la herencia española....con la independencia solo cambiaron un amo por otro pero los USA aparte de ponerle cadena los llevan con bozal..... Nota el video es bastante instructivo
i hope you are taking no offense in different opinions...if you feel uncomfortable about my comments you can remove them. Peace and happy training to you!..
the body though doesnt change ... and therefore i use my time to develop strategies and control over the body of the opponent. However i do believe in knife training and self defense against SIMPLE weapons that can be found anywhere. Trying to find ways to defend yourself against all the man made weapons in the world would be a waste of time as anybody can invent something new any time. knife in the shoe...hidden shin guards with blades...etc...endless.
But for a common Filipino "Hubad" means get naked and it is very effective especially when you tell it to your wife or husband to start the rock'n roll of love ahahahaha😅😆 just kidding it is actually my favorite drill because of its aggressiveness.
Hubad does mean all u said but in the Filipines words don't have one singular meaning growing up their and moving to the US I know my roots husband is usually used in the sentence "mag HUBAD ka na " Translation : take youre clothes of already usually used by mothers telling their children before baths or etc....... but HUBAD also can mean naked and all else u said just depend on a sentence so never say a filipino as just one use it in a sentence to clarify what it means in spcertain sentences like in French

Excellent explanation!
Awesome skill
Thank you for your input. The "wedge" in this case depends on the position and angle, more like a doorstop.

Great thought! There actually is a drill that Guro sometimes teaches that works exactly on that principle. Maybe I'll post it!
Excellent

Great Job!!
Very well done!
That's how Vu taught me,"raise, slap and hit"

Brilliant instruction
Good stuff!!!
Thank you! I appreciate the info.
Great sensitivity job.
This drill may also be useful when someone is trying to undress you and you need to clear their hands away from you!

thank you very much for your videos. I really, really apreciate it a lot.

I think, it's called hubod.

When is he going to fight in a bare knuckle bout?

Drizzy - I found that out the hard way. Much to my embarrassment. HAHAHAHA!
0_drizzy hubad is a visayan word. meaning to untangle.
higot is to tie. also a visayan word. hubad in tagalog is to be naked.
I have some feedback for you that applies to all you videos. You talk way to much. Please stop rambling and show us the information. Thank you
