Some one made a fanmade alternative version were the titans, mantalope, tempters, and rock crushers survived and became sentient species. It's called all other tomorrows.
Fun fact, there's a semi alternative continuation called 'All Other Tomorrows" which is basically what could've happened to the species that went extinct which i would highly recomend
I WAS LITTERLY LOOKING AT ALL TOMMROW'S LORE LAST WEEK!!!! NUX! I wish for you to take a look at and analyze & the lore of "I have no mouth and I must scream" I've been on a path of horror the past few days 💀
Theres a video by Wendigoon about “I have no mouth and I must scream.” Nux needs to react to that, its some of the most fricked up and horrifying stuff you will see anywhere in scifi but its also a very good read/watch. Some very light spoilers here as I am planning on giving like a semi understandable synopsis without spoiling anything. The remnants of humanity “interacting” with a vengeful machine god crippled by humans before its birth.
Fun fact: there is a theory out there that the Astromorphs became so intelligent and technologically advanced that they invented time travel and as they evolved and thier intelligence grew, they viewed other species as lesser, (and how you remarked in the video that the Astromorphs started to look like the Qu) they evolved into the Qu
I heard a more complicated theory, where the asteromorphs go back to time to revenge the qu, but found out that they are the qu. So if they don’t torture people right now they will never exist. So they with suffering was torturing humanity just to prevent time paradox
There're so many sci fi stories that are unique like this. Like 'Humanity Lost' for an example. It imagines a world where humans are the ones destroying the galaxy, not aliens. Curious Archive has made 2 videos about it and I'd recommend you to check it out. 5:08 I remember reading about an invention that could fully automate care of infants: feeding, changing, and rocking all done by one nurse pressing some buttons. But it turned out that even if all their physical needs are met, without human interaction and skin contact newborns tend to just stop thriving and start dying so they stopped development pretty quickly.
Why wouldn't they just mix the machines care with SOME Human interaction? Like I doubt a mother or caretaker wouldn't want to touch the baby atleast once a day.
I've always appreciated the bittersweet beauty of All Tomorrows. It's like in spite of all the qu put humanity through, they survived, evolved and took back the stars. And even after they've gone away, the universe continues; life continues
Speculative evolution is an extremely underused fictional concept. It is applicable to all sorts of fiction and can add so much diversity to any world. How a creature bends to its environment for its survival, how a creature bends the environment itself to thrive and how creatures bend others in interactions over centuries and millennia is simply a wonderland of creativity waiting to have ideas thought up from it. It is literally the spice of life.

I love All Tomorrow's. Led me down a crazy rabbit hole~ They even have alternate timelines for the species that didn't survive to see what they would've become if they managed to survive with the others.
There's also "all other tommorows" which is an alternative version where species that died in all tommorows actually survived and evolved into new forms.
There’s a pretty popular theory that the reason they don’t know what happened to humanity is because they unlocked time travel - after all, when you’ve mastered space, that’s where you’d want to go next. So - long story short - they became the Qu by going back in time.
Brains are unbelievably expensive, biologically speaking, so ideally a critter is only going to be as smart as it needs to be. Sentience, let alone sapience, is by no means a guarantee.
