Thank you so much for that short tutorial ☺️ my Nina recently gave me her Olympus, and I remember playing with it a lot as a kid. Glad I wasn't too rough with it, cuz it still works! Getting it ready for a trip I'm going on and I'm so psyched to use it. The battery and film were easier to find than I thought, too.
Brilliant little camera! I have the same one, bought it many years ago off ebay very cheap, when I first bought a digital camera, so I barely used it and it got left in a drawer until very recently when I found they are fast becoming a cult classic and fetching very good money! So I loaded up a battery to test and it works fine still, trying to find a film locally was pretty much impossible but luckily I found 2 unused rolls at home, long out of date! I'll test it further with film and process the images, I'll have to make a video but ultimately I'll be selling it.😎👍 Also have one of the earlier non zoom ones in black that I bought brand new way back in the 1990s but I can't quite place it....⚠️🤔
Yeah these little cameras are made like tanks! I’ve never found an Olympus clamshell camera with battery corrosion and most of the 100 or so I’ve tested show at least some sign of life! I love flipping these! You should fetch about $90 for yours! Let me know if you make a video!
@@TeddyJuras Battery had been left in and long gone flat, film 36 exp was installed, unfortunately I had to rewind it, quite possibly there were some frames left on it? like you say no corrosion, maybe because the water tight seal is so good? Will make a video and let you know
I have one of these and had it repaired since it's not switching on. However I was told that they cant repaor the LCD but its already working. The flash button and timer shows its icon when pressed but the "E" indicator isnt showing. I was told that it should still be able to shoot however I'm worried about the fact that I cant see how many shots I have left. Is there any other indicator or ways on how I can find out if I already took all the shots?
Oh no! Could be battery issue. Make sure you are using a new battery. Also Try cleaning the silver tabs where you put the film. Use a qtip and white vinegar. Last use a dummy roll of film to test next time. Hate for you to lose another roll of film! 👍
hey! i just got this camera, thanks for the video. I got my film developed and mostly all of the pictures came out unfocused :( i know that the solid green light means it’s in focus, so i went and checked and i noticed when i’m in darker indoor lighting, it always blinks and can’t focus. is this normal? or should i start searching for another camera
Hey mya! It’s a great camera! I’ve not actually developed film from this one but most cameras are going to struggle finding focus in dark environments. If it does catch focus it’s imperative to hold the camera very still for at least a second sometimes longer. The shutter will be open longer in dark environments and any movement can cause focus issues and streaking. If camera has red eye reduction the pre-flash can help with focus too. Hope this helps a bit! 👍
Sounds like a bad flash? If film advances, rewind works, and it takes photos but flash not working… you could sell for $50+. Do some comparisons on eBay to see what going rate is currently.
I have questions that why is the mju ii with the larger the zoom lens, the cheaper it is. I read some reddit topics and it said zooming will make the quality of the photos go worse, but if i have a olympus mju ii zoom 170 and taking a pictures without zooming then the quality of the picture equal to a normal mju ii? I considering buying a mju ii zoom 170 so hope you can answer those questions for me. Thank you.
I’m not sure about lesser quality when zooming. Definitely will perform worse in low light as you zoom in. But you will always get a higher quality image from a prime lens vs zoom lens. It’s a trade off. Better image with fixed lens but less creative options.
It won’t make it that much worse, the standard mju ii is very overhyped in my opinion, I’d go for zoom any day. I personally love longer focal length as opposed to a short fixed one
Hey came across your video from a google search, just found this camera in my moms old boxes and the camera is seriously untouched. It had a battery in it for who knows how many years. I wiped it down and bought a new 123 battery and the camera won’t turn on. Do you have any suggestions on what to try? The contact points for the battery looks good. 😞
Ugh not a good sign. These cameras are like little tanks so I don’t come across too many that aren’t at least turning on. Try taking some white vinegar and a qtip to clean contacts. Also play with clamshell a bit to make sure it’s sliding all the way open to turn on. Otherwise that’s all I got! Good luck
@@TeddyJuras I’ve just tried all your tips unfortunately to no avail, thank you so much for the response By the way! It’s such a shame because on the outside it’s in nearly mint condition, I think it was used once or twice. 😪 I also stopped by a camera repair shop and they said there’s nothing they can do as the parts aren’t available. Maybe it got hot in the attic and it damaged something internally at some point.

Hello! What’s the differences between this one and a 140 deluxe?
I believe deluxe just adds quartz-date. Where you can put a time stamp on photos. I’m not sure 💯 but maybe someone else here knows? 👍
Hi! Love the video. How do you turn off the flash for when you don’t want it to fire?
Hello thanks for the feedback! The little lightening bolt button on top will turn off the flash. 👍
Very helpful thank you!
Glad I can help! 👍
any trouble shooting ideas for the film not catching?
Hmmmm I don’t. First thing is to make sure the advance is working? If so I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be catching. 🤷♂️

No way to visually tell… however you can just keep shooting until the end of the roll and the camera will automatically rewind itself at that point! 👍
I just bought this camera and my film automatically rolled back at 6 exposures. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thank you!

Do you need to adjust
For the ISO? Or does the camera do it automatically?
It’s all automatic. 👍
I have this camera the shutter blades won’t open any idea on how to fix this?
Oh no! I don’t have a fix for this sorry. It’s a parts camera when I come across one of these. 👎
@@TeddyJuras I've figured out it's only opening when I press the shutter button halfway and all the way. Only when the flash is on does it not open
@@TeddyJuras do you have a rough estimate for what I can sell for your correspondence is much appreciated

Ugh sorry to hear that! So frustrating. I’ve had mint cameras not work too. The worst. 👎
Can it record videos
Lol no it’s a film camera.
