The stumble off idle can be needs go down on the main jets or recurve the distributior….. I would do away with the carb and use the Holley sniper bolt on efi ….very nice though!

Valid point. It can also be other factors such as cam Lift and duration which has a direct corelation to vacuum. If this is a conventional Mini distributor, it will be advanced through vacuum. This Engine seems to be moderately modified, so more than likely the cam profile is no where similar to OEM (Stock). One of the methods to improve low RPM drivabilty especially on non computerized(Non EFI) engines with aggressive camshaft profiles is to increase compression ratio. For this reason most after market camshaft will state the compression ratio needed to optimize the cam performance. Mini owners will know that the mini cylinder head is one of the limiting factors of the engine and increasing the compression to high levels requires alot of custom work to piston valve pockets and cylinder head compression chamber size, which therafter force the owner to fuel his car with an octane higher than pump gas. So it is a lose -win situation when it comes to these engine. You want a little more HP but it comes with sacrificing low RPM drivabilty. This is what we do as gearheads 😁.
I do agree with you as it relates to purchasing the Holley EFI it would have assited greatly in this area. But You know, nothing not nicer than a mini sounding choked up at low RPM then suddenly scream out. Especially when coupled DCOE carb straight cut gears. It brings back that time era. @@shaunspence8740 thanks for the indepth and very informative information. It does have a fearly big cam and a 45 weber so in low rpm it does brake up a bit but once it clears up it gone!!

One should interview George Sherwood. He can easily be found in Jamaica, Mountain View Ave, between Deanery Ave and Friendship Park Road. 1st noted 1275 S was known to disgrace many Fords and others at the old Palisades track back in the 60s by an ex-pat dueling guy like Cornell Doyen's yellow Lotus Elan or Eddie Lea's E type Jaguar. Memories of days gone bye.

A car like that need the full twin head conversion. Did he bought the mini pickup from Victor Brown or is a different one. Victor was the only person I know who own a brown mini pickup.

Try this.
To resolve the stumble, you need to add the fourth progression hole to the weber. Side drafts come with only 3 holes, you will get stumble from idle up to about 1500, 2000 RPM. The fourth hole will fix this, but you have to be careful about the size and location of the hole. I used to own a 69 S in Jamaica. Now in Florida, own a 1983 A+ block 1275 CC. Not a racer, but a nice looking fast road. Straight cut drops, Holbay racing tuned 45 weber, 1.5 roller rockers, free flow exhaust with Porsche Boxster rear tip, Pertronix flame thrower non-vac advance distributor, 12" revolution wheels, riding on Sheffield suspension springs and gas shocks.
I know George from 13 Belmont road, my 69 S used to be there in the 70's. I know Trevor from Harbour view. How com they did not tell you about the weber progression holes.
BTW - Now, I also own a few other cars. 72 MK1 Ford Escort, with twin 45 webers. A 74 1/2 MGBGT fast road, A 1980 911 Porsche, 1984 Alfa Spider, 2004 BMW mini Cooper S, and a couple of Corvettes.
