      It's all about the rhythm. The biggest part of playing guitar - lead or "rhythm".

    I like your wisdom, Sir, you always present something clever. The topic also is key, rhythm is the heart of the matter, so to speak. Thank you.

    Cool lesson. I'm going to utilize this with some styles I don't commonly play. Thanks!

    Hi Mark. Great stuff as usual.i was wondering where you got that backing track .cheers Jon I am looking at your course advert here and on you're email

      Thanks Jon. BTW, this comment got blocked by RUclips (probably because of the word "a-d-v-e-r-t" being used. I made the backing track myself in Band in a Box.

    Great technique.
    Since I'm already well adverse to the I,IV,V progression, I'm going to apply to a few other common progressions like the ii,V; or I,vi,ii,V, and try to focus on those root notes and chord tones to help tie my improvs to the rhythm.

    Nice solo, nice lesson Mark. I wish I could commit to the workshop but life pulls me in so many directions these days it seems daunting to think I could attend to something like that consistently. The yellow arrows complaint is a new one. WTF 😂 I think somebody needs professional help and I'm not talking guitar here lol

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  9 дней назад

      Yeah, I know what you mean. It's hard to find the time sometimes.
      Regarding the arrows ... yeah, I have no idea about it. First I've heard about it.

      Next time start by having about 3 or 4 yellow arrows and finish with a bunch. He'll really lose it 😂

    Sue Foley says the same thing...and she should know.

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  7 дней назад +1

      Absolutely. Sue's the best. Listen to just one record of hers, say "Big City Blues". She does such a variety. You've got to build your rhythmic vocabulary to do that. It's not about the notes.

      @MarkZabel I watched a TrueFire lesson with her, and she kept saying right hand,right hand ,stamp your feet.

    Nice backing but too much information. Already what is there implies what you should do. There is a risk of falling into the patterns and licks that one expects should be there. Just thinking. Good to see you as always Mark. Cool riffing.

    So what are you saying I'm not getting this lesson at all. You want the lead solo lines to sound like "Rhythmic stabs" Rhythmic punches?

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  9 дней назад +1

      Simple lesson: take time to acclimate and sync with the rhythm. Get your body into it. Resist the temptation to analyze it theoretically or to just start soloing. Take as long as you need to let the rhythm truly sink in before you start.
      This is very much different than a "here's a bunch of information for you" lesson.
      Funny thing is, as a teacher, 80% of the people I teach know enough theory and where the notes are. 20% really feel rhythm effectively. Yet almost no one thinks it's important other than to understand how to count.
      Bottom line: music is a physical experience.
      Hope that helps to clarify things for you.

    The single note/chord is stuff you can play when some one else is soloing.

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  9 дней назад

      Yep. Make a practice of doing that when you practice. Take time to NOT think scales/melody/chord tones for a while. Let the rhythm envelope you and get your whole body into it.

    For the love of God, please don't start with the yellow arrows. I'm getting so many yellow arrows in my feed that they've become meaningless and I've had to ask RUclips to stop recommending yellow-arrow-channels to me! We like you. We don't need yellow arrows to be convinced. Please stop.

    • @MarkZabel

      White arrows then? I chose yellow because of the contrast and thought it went well with blue.
      Also, not all the thumbs I'm testing have yellow arrows. You were apparently lucky. I'll see how each one does and act according to data.
