    Thank you for making this into a 4 minute video, there are like 50, 20-30 minute videos out there of people who won’t stop talking about themselves and I honestly just want to make the Jam, even when I look for text based ones it’s like someone is writing a biography of their personal lives and how they grew up on a farm or how they do this and it feeds their kids for months, way to much fluff for something you managed to pull off in 4 minutes.
    Your video is right to the point and I thank you for it.

    These people who kept saying "that's way too sweet" or "there's too much sugar" CLEARLY never made jams before. You know those jams that you've been buying from the supermarket? It contains a LOT more sugar than this recipe. In fact, most traditional jam recipes contain more sugar. If you're all health conscious and stuff, then don't eat jam/jelly. Simple as that. Stick to fruits.

    • @andreciagl
      @andreciagl 3 года назад

      health conscious individuals do not have to refrain from eating jam/jelly. The amount of sugar however can just be lessened to 1/4 cup.

      @@andreciagl then reduce it yourself. Why would anyone bother complaining to someone who has put much effort on a video? 🤔 Go make your own recipe.

      @souls potat this comment is from one year ago. The new comments are better now, but when I comment on this video in the first place, it's all the "it's too sweet" comment. I mean, I don't get it. Why don't you just make your own reduced sugar video? 🤔 You can always add more pectin and reduce the sugar. Why watch this vid just to complain about it?

    I’ve been fighting with wasps that are sucking my grapes dry. I decided to cut all of them a little early so the wasps wouldn’t get them all. Some were sweet with a little sour to them. I was trying to eat so many grapes. Thought about making wine, or juice but seen your video first and that’s what I’m doing now. Making some jam 😋

    I tripled this recipe using 12 cups of grapes, 2 cups of sugar and 3 Tbsp lemon juice. The bag just said table grapes and they were reddish. Full of water so I had to cook for 77 minutes, stirring constantly and it was reduced in volume 4/5 before it wouldn’t slide off the frozen plate. It is delicious but not low sugar since I only got 8 (4 oz) jars. Still it is no pectin and will make again. Processed in boiling water bath 10 minutes so it will keep unrefrigerated. I processed some orange jelly and the recipe was 10 minutes in boiling water bath.

    Amazing recipe! I always forget how to make jams, and I’ve been wondering if it’s fine to just blitz it all in the blender. Well, seems this answers my question! Will be using green grapes and other leftover fruits like cherry. I like that it’s 1:4 parts sugar to fruit, since I typically don’t like too much sweetness.

      Eat the seeds. They're fine and softened. I make mine from Cabernet Sauvignon. She ruined it by adding sugar. Use some pectin. Why do people need sugar in everything? It overpowers all the flavor.

    What's your thought on using artificial sweetener such a Splenda a lot of people like doing that stuff but there are diabetic or have problems with sugar and personally I prefer the non-sweet my mother's diabetic I've just gotten used to it but she does a lot of canning as well she's been making apple butter and now we're working on pomegranate but we use Splenda and Pickton in the way she does hers and I just have thoughts on yours because Hearts don't need refrigerating after she's done

    • @fixitsamo
      @fixitsamo  7 лет назад +2

      I agree with you. Added sugar contains NO essential nutrients and contributes to all sorts of diseases. That's why my jam recipe is quite low-sugar compared to traditional recipes.
      I do not consider myself a pro but making jams without sugar will not gel the same unless the amount of pectin in the fruit is high or unless you use no-sugar pectins (gelling agent). Please correct me if I'm wrong...
      Unfortunately sugar is a powerful preservative. Jam/jelly with higher amounts of sugar hold their quality and last longer. Small jam batches lend themselves to more rapid water evaporation and I think in this case you can use artificial sweetener or reduce drastically the sugar amount but you may need to cook the jam longer so that the proper concentration can be reached. I will test a strawberry jam next time using Splenda :).

      I'm not an expert but I want to share my method! If you have a glass jar then you can sterilize it by pouring boiling water into it wash it completely with hot water and set aside to dry up. Or you can put it in the microwave and heat it. Use the jar when it's completely dry not even a drop of water should be inside. Fill it with hot jam and put the lid tightly then you can preserve it for months in the fridge. I made one mistake once by taking out the jar for too long till it was at room temperature so better put it back in fridge quickly after you use the jam. (Pardon my English!)

      I mean woah some people might only need it for two weeks which in the refrigerator like that I’m sure it’ll last a long time if you wanna have it in a cool storage for a while that is different. Also the lemon brings out the natural pectin i prefer not using and letting the fruit sugars and sugar do its thing taste better to me but if that’s what you prefer 🤙🏼
