that quick recovery from the voice-break Liza had at 3:45, proves how proper vocal training can save a performance when your voice eventually does give in a little. it didn't throw-off the rest of her performance and she even laughed when it happened. There is beauty in imperfections.
@@elenaandrew8414 yeah she actually does this on purpose in most of her performances. It's honestly one of my favourite parts. It's not a voice break, it's art.
@@traccinrameka4864 Liza's a good actress, but there are somethings you cannot fake that convincingly. Just before the cough, she was belting her heart out. The cough was real, stuff like that does happen to even the most well-trained singers. It's happened to me plenty of times. It's known as a "strained cough" or "irritated larynx". She was belting (singing loudly with projection and power) and growling and stylizing her (animated) vocals. This kind of vocal cord-flexing in such a short-span can cause a tickling sensation on the throat and a simple quick cough, or a clearing of the throat, can reset the cords. In contrast, Pavarotti is smooth, his voice is relaxed even when he's belting, he didn't smother it with style, he chose to keep his voice clear and concise. Liza's a performer-and-a-half, so if she does do this regularly on purpose, then it's clear that she overloads her voice on purpose for the cough to come out naturally.
Surprised how powerful Liza is. Not opera, but nevertheless, compares well with the gr8 one. Better than the other rock-stars that I've seen with him. Maybe it's her signature song though.
@@KajiVocals everyone is always allowed to their personal opinion, however wrong, erroneous and mistaken it may be. This was performed in 1996 when Liza was only 50 years old and still somewhat still at her peak. ( Nope, she was not still in her 30's or 40's as when she had sang this song then, but she was still singing this song wonderfully and great as only she could do. While she was trying her very best to lovingly relax and encourage him, she purposely lowered and quieted her normal electrifying delivery so as to not to over power him. His performance is almost embarrassing because he obviously out of his league in this Broadway/show music but he technically sang this song very well. Liza voice did not begin to become shot until the early and the middle part of the 2000's. 🙄🤔😳
This was the funniest performance of Luciano Pavarotti and Liza Minelli, they were great ! I just Love Love both in this presentation !!!!! ❤️💋🌹❤️💋🌹❤️💋🌹❤️💋🌹❤️💋🌹
In addition to his greatness of song Pavarotti was a true affictionado of music and he loved singing other styles with other singers. The more it contradicted with his singing style the more fascinating it was to hear the duets. My favorite is with James Brown but they're all wonderful rather incredible
I enjoyed immensely listening to the most beautiful song "NY NY" performed by Liza Minnelli and the unforgettable Luciano Pavarotti. Michael Farkash - Israel. N
When they put two icons of the music world together, on the same stage....you'll get...a wonderful thing to watch and to listen to. Stage presence, artistic attributes, voice, elegance, recognition around the world, you know who they are, and art at its best.
@@healedrock3481 Liza was in cabaret too, won an Oscar for it I think. And she's the daughter of Vincente Minnelli (Hollywood director) and Judy Garland (Dorothy from the wizard of Oz) so she has some amazing genes! I somehow ended up backstage at one of Liza's shows a few years ago and watched her from the wings. I grew up around opera singers so I'm used to belters but the power of Liza's voice is phenomenal! She would deafen you if you stood next to her! And she's such a tiny person too - 5ft3ish. She's fabulous! I adore Pavarotti here he is so SO far out of his comfort zone bless him
"Pavarotti; the entire world missed you" The famous Sole Mio will never be the same like the one that you sang for thousands of times. The haven choir now have you as their new tenor. You are my favorite tenor
S U P E R !!!
That was soooo cool. Pavarati was finally loosening up towards the end with his body, of course his voice always in pitch, but don't think he sings in English much so he was lookin at the sheet music all the time, and bless old Liza's heart she was so sweet to him, like "hey you're a great entertainer too, come on, they love ya honey!" Looked like he had fun in a stiff kina way.LOL. Great.
There isn’t many people who can stand up to Pavarotti in a duet. I guess Lizais one of them. BRAVO!
Celine Dion?
Liza Minnelli is the gift here. No one could have made Luciano more comfortable . That, my friends, is the true entertainer.
Truth
what a load of rubbish

2 brilliant performers together. I love Pavarotti's facial expressions.... they are hilarious. And Liza is pure genius... AMAZING
Liza is so vivid so energetic and looking just happy and smiling so much :))))))
Liza has the same voice power and projection as an opera singer! What a talented lady!
Judy Garland's and Vincent Minelli's daughter!!!!
Aaaaa well.. here Pavarotti is singing popular, not opera.. so he is not singing with his real technique and projection..
She does not. Not at this stage. This is when her voice has already deteriorated.

Un duo irrepetible. En estos tiempos de tanta mediocridad musical, es un placer oír a estas dos magníficas voces.
Two of the most talented people who share the same stage and you get a perfect performance ❤️💖🙌🙌
